If your only contract to Laine is games from viaplay and interviews from Iltalehti. I forgive you for not knowing anything.

I mean if I only had those 'sources' I wouldn't either know anything.

But I know I wouldn't be yelling **** here that I read from Iltalehti - and claim that I know everything - Like you do.

Well we don't really have anything else to go by, but his games & interviews.

You shouldn't even be talking about that stuff here, without a reliable source it's just spreading rumours. "I'm in a whatsapp group" is not a reliable source.

Also - private conversations are just that, private.

Unless you provide the comments, everyone here will think you just got caught lying, again. I'm not saying it's impossible that you have Laine's comments on fighting in your whatsapp groups. But it's just a tad too convenient when you clearly use similar wording Laine did in an public interview but with misleading way. Then you suddenly have the comments in some all-Tampere hockey whatsapp group but can't confirm them. So we're now left with two choice.

1. A guy who's been caught before for intentionally misinterpreting quotes on this site, did not misinterpret the only public quote on the matter, but instead has a personal contact with the "correct quote" but can't confirm it.

2. A person who has a track record of intentionally mis-quoting did in fact, once again mis-quote.

I'll eat my crow when you prove that you were talking about some inner WhatsApp circles and not the only public interview on the matter.

There you go :D

And no, I have not been been misinterpreting any quotes, Like i said I happen to know a lot more than your Iltalehti writes.

I am waiting for you to eat your crow.

Props for delivering the message. Not sure why you posted personal messages on public forum though.

There still isn't any quote where he says he expects to fight soon. Nevertheless, you delivered and I apologize.

The misquotes still happened though. And I'm not sold on this one either.

Are you ****ing kidding me right now? I could post something similar with Laine saying he never wants to fight. That has 0% value. Even if it was true and that is Laine talking, that is a tongue-in-cheek comment he made to his friends.

While im not involved in this.. That pic doesnt prove anything.. Any of us could rename his contack as "Patrik Laine" And let him text god knows what.. And them claim; It's really Laine saying this and that.. Unless you can prove it, that number belonging to Laine.. Until that, it's just worthless pic. (No dont reveale his number.. Screen him saying something, and after that him saying the same thing on his Twitter account etc)

the game against avs was one of laines (and the teams) less good games. So many faulty passes but laines still got an nice crossbar but couldnt really get the momentum going. Even Scheifele was not looking good yesterday. He did not even get a shot on goal despite numerous PP's, im assuming coach has told him to play less selflessly atleast seems like it. i think this tight schedule is having its toll aswell.

Why do you have to downplay the jets performance as a whole when Laine didn't have a great game or didn't get any bounces? I thought wheeler and scheifele looked good last night, both scored actually. Petan was a buzzsaw on the ice, trouba looked solid in his first game back too. Another guy that I loved watching was Morrissey, but I don't want too go OT.. Back to back games are something that's probably tough on rookies, it's showed with Laine last night and the leafs rookies at different points this season aswell. Downplaying the teams performance though I don't agree with.

Laine doesn't use social media.

Anyways all I said that he will fight sooner than later and people ( or actually one person) attacked me saying I misquote Iltalehti :D

Do you know how moderated those interviews are? Laine has personal presentation teacher and everything he says is fully thought through before interviews. You really don't know what Pate is thinking from interviews because they don't present Patrik Laine, those present the image he is creating.

He is a superstar and a rookie so he can't go on interviews saying that he will fight the next goon he faces because then every goon is going to come ask him if he is ready for battle.

And no I wasn't planning on giving away his number on public forum. Last year a girl got fined for spreading Laines number after wjc. I was thinking if I even post the pic but there are over 40+ people on that channel so it really isn't a private convo.

edit. And I thought people would shut up if I did that but I guess it was the opposite :D

Thats fine, I did not mean to come off so harsh in my post. All i meant was that the team as a whole did not look 100%, they got an rough schedule. As you said back to back games tend to wear on the rookies. With that said some did play really good just as you pointed out but not the team as a whole in my opinion. Im a scrub when it comes to hockey aswell so i may not understand what i am actually seing. Last game against Dallas did set the bar really high which most likely affects my judgement aswell.

Exactly. Quite embarassing not recognizing that.
But most likely he believes that Laine will score 76 goals.

No that's fair. There were certainly a few players who didn't look on top of their game last night. No one is a scrub based on the opinions they formulate from what they see in the games imo. How someone perceives something is going to be different than how someone else does most of the time. As for the game he played against Dallas, thats more reason why the bar for Laine is so high. He's a finisher (pun intended), and is already a legitimate threat in this league. Didn't mean to call you out either, it was only the 3rd game Ive seen from Laine this season, so I could actually engage in some meaningful discussion

https://twitter.com/patriklaine29?lang=fi Who's account is this then.

Credibility of that 'proof' is near to ZERO.

Then...

For those who come here to accuse that we are down playing something. Haha.
It's obvious that last game was not best one either for Pate nor Jets. So, let's get over it!

Wow. Screenshotting something from a whatsup group. Thats pretty low. I mean, i get it, you want to bragg but m8, remember what Selänne did when someone from his wedding took photos and sold them? "That was the end of that friendship". Imo, we dont need more than interviews and games from him. Let him have his privacy and place where he can blow of some steam and just talk whatever he wants, not to be afraid that something he says in whatsup group goes public.

Its cool that you know him personally. If that message is in fact from Patrik. Still, would think twice if i were you. He needs people who he can trust around him in his private life.

it was only the 3rd game Ive seen from Laine this season, so I could actually engage in some meaningful discussion

Overall he's been great. A few bad turnovers. He seems to constantly adjust his playstyle slighty to improve for the next game. Sometimes it seems like there is no play at all and then *Bam* dude has beastly few seconds of play and its a goal. He really really has a nose for goal and you can almost feel it everytime he is with the puck when coming into the ozone.

I am really surprised how ready he seems for NHL and im still not sure if i even dared to expect this perfomance from him. But still its early in the season but sofar he has made more than an impression on me (even more than before that is).

His defensive game is very good aswell and he is usually the first one back in the d-zone on counters. This is an area of his game i think gets overlooked.

Laine is insanely highly skilled which he shows time after time.

Now i know this sounds like a huge tyre pump when im using so many big words to describe him but i got to say he has earned it.

The few gripes of his game according to me are small, such as loosing boardbattles sometimes or trying overly complicated passes (cross crease) sometimes. I dont think any of those will be a problem for long tho. I miss his slap shots tho. But since he seems to know what he is doing im okay with that.

Its easy to forget that he is only 18. First rookie ive ever followed so i dont know how often rookies make such impact on the nhl as i feel that laine is doing.

Whats your take on him out of what you have seen ?

Selänne's entourage is pretty well known in Finland at least. In the Sel8nne documentary it was revealed that it is the Finnish Flash who wants total obedience from his hang-around servants. Reject couple phonecalls and another won't come.

I don't know if it is totally healthy for someone to likewise identify himself through Laine at such a young age, smooching around while replying with smileys/emotes to his every comment drop but yes, he won't be the first or the last as long as success is involved.

;)

Above is the most ridiculous pissing contest I have ever seen on HFBoards.. Seriously guys.

And Teemu is a jerk to his friends, its like a cult circle, if you want to be in it you treat him as royalty - just like any other cool/popular person, just like they do, so Teemu also exploits it.

But we are here to talk about skills, potential and play of Laine. Now I didnt see yesterdays game, and only see one comment that it was bad game. How? Bad passing, decisions? How did he skate, did he get any hits? Did he look like he belongs out there with avg 8yrs older players etc?
He needs to be good enough even when he gets no points..

4 game scoring streak comes to an end with a very tough team on the docket. The LA Kings. Should be an interesting opponent.

Im not the most qualified person to answer but here is what i saw.

He looked tired for the most part. Did have some flashes and good passes aswell just that his game was quite big contrast from the dallas game, i dont think i saw him dish out a single hit in this one. Hit an crossbar of a really nice shot tho. He was by no means bad just not 100%. his whole line seemed to struggle getting any sustained pressure going and on the pp's (jets got quite a few) he barely took any shots. Perhaps the avs pk was really good i dont know. He still contributed and created some chances so nothing to worry about really. The jets as whole was alot on the defence this game.

But the PP thing seems as if the coach might be trying his options but im way too casual to really speculate into that.
Yes i'd say he belongs he just did not stand out as much as i have gotten used to by now. He was not invisible.

I don't think you're pumping his tires by any means, he's absolutely been deserving of the attention he's received around here. My take on him is that he's going to be one of the most dangerous goal scorers in the league, if not the best once ovechkin has slowed down. I don't mean to take anything away from him when I say this, but him playing alongside scheifele is only going to highlight the elite skills that Laine possess's. Of course that goes both ways, I'm sure scheifele loves playing with a sniper that has a skillset like Laine. I'm sure everyone knew he was elite when it came to putting pucks in the net but one thing that's impressed me more than anything was the way he protects the puck, he looks so strong on his skates. That's a quality that most players with Laines scoring ability don't have, and it makes him an even greater threat offensively. Will be interesting to see how he will play with more weight on his frame.

It is even more ridicilious how it all started. Someone was asking if Laine getting Gordie Howe hatrick is a good bet. Me answering that yeah and then someone who likes to selfmoderate me calling me out on misquototing iltalehti and doing that constantly.

I might go overboard sometimes but I should have proved time and time again that I don't get my information from either iltalehti/sanomat. Too bad I havent been on this forum for too long but you can check my history on team-finland thread. People were laughing at first but when I had the actual team/lines/linechanges/starting goalies before media they shut up. I even joked that media comes to hfboards to get the info published first.

I am not really even in Laines inner circle but I do know him. I know a lot people in hockey partly because I played until B-Juniors not too far ago and my work takes me back to it. I have Liiga wide VIP access so I go and see a lot games and meet a lot people and hear a lot talk. I know personally half of the people who were in Team-Finland WC. I know Lauri Marjamäki really good. Last week I was eating sushi with 3 players who just came to Tampere from Karjala tournament. I play golf with the guys. I have been at 2 NHL players weddining.

Maybe I shouldnt have revelead even this much but I really dont like people name calling and saying that you are talking bs.

Ehlers is the Key of the Line. IMO.

These guys elevate each others play. It is mistake break that line, unless absolutely necessary. What ever. It doesn't matter how good this or that player plays if the game is lost to the own goal. That sucks even from a perspective of Avalanche.

Yep most definatly helps having Scheifele there he is a beast. I think it helped that Laine has played some games with Barkov so he has some experience playing with an high level center. Too bad the Laine- Scheifele- Ehlers line seems to have been split up for now.

I totally agree on the skates aswell! i remember hearing how laines skating was his weakness and such but i have not seen that at all. sure his acceleration is not the best but he'll get there. His topspeed is very good allready tho! and yes strong on his skates and that long reach definatly makes it very hard to grab the puck from him.

This season will be awesome.
