I might go overboard sometimes but I should have proved time and time again that I don't get my information from either iltalehti/sanomat. I am not really even in Laines inner circle but I do know him. I know a lot people in hockey partly because I played until B-Juniors not too far ago and my work takes me back to it. I have Liiga wide VIP access so I go and see a lot games and meet a lot people and hear a lot talk. I know personally half of the people who were in Team-Finland WC. I know Lauri Marjamäki really good. Last week I was eating sushi with 3 players who just came to Tampere from Karjala tournament. I play golf with the guys. I have been at 2 NHL players weddining.

Maybe I shouldnt have revelead even this much but I really dont like people name calling and saying that you are talking bs.

IMO you should have said in the first place that; your source isnt Finnish tabloits..

Also, posting that kind of proof, doesnt mean much these days.. As there werent anything that would really proof the other person being Laine. Would you take such picture granted, if someone posted similar pic ? It's kinda hard to proof anything, if you want to stay unknown.

Surely no one wants to be called "liar" It's just a choice, wether you stay behind your alias or step out and reveale yourself..
 
If u know player stay classy because knowing player doesnt make u player. Good if you know Laine but priding with it is bit awkward as well as posting private whats app conversation imo

It really cool if u know Laine, I would like to know him too, but aint it bit weird to get too proud about it?

That said if you know him its bottom line cool and if convo was big group its not that big deal so lets get over it

Strictly speaking that link to that Article is not out-of-place artifact in this thread, and it also tell the story not leaving important facts out of it's scope. It's narrative is very good written Finnish (that is not always the case with Finnish tabloids, you know). At minimum YLE's sourcing standards aren't based on random screen shots of alleged private discussions.

My sincere attempt to get the thread back on track. :)

I just think it is reasonable to remember that just because someone is good at putting black into the cage far more in depth reviews could be torn out of that character. Especially when the source should be somewhat ambitious it would be better to critically review whether those hype pieces's hold more resourceful point of view instead of just contributing to yet another Dingo phenomenom which consumes the kalekales of Tampere. While everyone surrounding Laine hype tries their best to benefit personally.
 
That Article reflects very well also the history of the Laine Hype, exactly because it uses only sources that are/were part of a media-induced public collective consciousness.

I'm Laine fan myself. I do not benefit from it otherwise then getting joy from it.

Very well two games ago, but looked a bit tired in the second game of the back-to-back in Colorado. Still, he whistled a hummer off the bar... beat the goalie clean.
 
Not surprising, we expect even the vets to be tired during this ridiculous stretch, let alone a kid in his first year in the NHL.

Only another 5 games until our first two day break since the heritage classic
 
Ye maybe so. I still cant help feeling that sure he is a world class finisher but he does more harm than good in the overall play.

Why does it always feel like the jets get thrashed by the schedule and travelling in the first half of the year?

Oh ya, those 11 goals and 5 assists have really hurt the jets overall. That hat trick against the leafs to almost single handedly win us the game was just brutal, i don't know why the coach keeps him out there when he detracts from the overall play so much. Jets would be in a much better position without him on the team with all the harm he does. :sarcasm:

I agree, maybe they should try sending him to AHL to see if he comes back and isn't an actual liability in the lineup then. He can't just show up here and there and score a couple when his corsi numbers aren't right there with the vets!

You can downplay the guy's overall performance as long as you want but as long as Laine keeps actually producing and feeding those scoring chances to others, I'm sure no one in the Winnipeg's coaching staff cares.

Or did you even watch the game?
 
Really harmful guy, indeed. Especially for those players and fans who are so damn advanced statistically. He displays near complete negligence toward everything underlying preferring visible stuff. That young AHL-bust have certainly no decency in NHL-OZs. :sarcasm:

A splinter in some statistically oriented minds, pals. :yo:

Ye overall was a bad use of words. Point is his finishing is obv very important for the team but the rest of the game he doesnt match up to in first hand his linemates and second, the team. Yet.

I would argue against that. Especially being a rookie at 18 he hangs with the team quite well. In some games in some moments he might seem to be a couple steps behind but this is expected by a rookie and it does not last for long even in those games. He's quite defensively sound too, probably since he played for Tappara back in Finland.

He is obviously not an liability to the team otherwise he would not play in the first line (granted the team has many top players injured).

If you base your opinion mostly on the last game i could kinda agree with you as he did seem abit tired in that one, yet he still produced alltought not as much as he usually does.

Now im just an casual viewer and im being extremely nitpicky here.

On another note Laine used to be both a forward and a goallie untill the age of 12, does anyone know if he was good for his age as a goallie ?

while I see Privates Vasquez and Drake together with their Smartguns.
