Any chance he drops to the Leafs at 7? It seems like he's exactly what they need, a big center, given the comparisons to Getzlaf I've seen.

0 chance he drops past the top 5. Islander fans are in love with him and they need a top winger badly.

Meh. When Laughton was gone to the WJC I caught a pair of general's games and Dal Colle was invisible. Not only did he not produce but he literally did **** all in every other aspect of the games.

Obviously it was a small sample size but it put me off on him. His scoring tools and abilities are sweet but whenever I watch him i leave wanting more from him.

This was my analysis as well. Elite talent, but he always left me wanting more.

He won't get past the flames or islanders

If Florida ends up picking 3rd because somebody leaped over them in the lottery, they are another team I can see who might like Dal Colle. Carolina is also another team that might make a good fit.

So yeah very unlikely he drops past 5th, even less likely 6th(Vancouver) or 7th(Carolina). 8th(Toronto) is a longshot

Does MDC draw any comparisons to recent prospects?

Nothing that really rings a bell that recently, but from my viewings, hes a Marleau clone. Plays a reliable 200ft game, great foot speed and shot as well. Im a fan of Dal Colle, but just from my limited viewings, he left me wanting more.

This guy is the full package for me. Purest goal scorer in this draft, lethal wrist shot, great skater, big body that he isn't afraid to use, he does it all. Wish their was some way he could drop to the Canucks but that just isn't going to happen. He is one of those players I watch and think there is no way this guy isn't going to succeed at the next level, too talented and has so much passion. Some team is going to be really happy come draft day. #4 is the lowest I see him falling.

I believe Jake Virtanen is more Ryan Kesler. both players depends on their physical play, awesome powerful shot, speed and size, and their back checking abilities. Those were his attributes heading into the the 2003 draft. Dal Cole is more Ryan Getzlaf

Quite a difference in penalty minutes between Getzlaf and MDC in their draft year

I really hope someone takes Bennet and DC before the Isles draft because I don't think either player are gonna have NHL success.

I disagree.

I want Dal Colle bad.

If Bennett fell to 5th(he won't) we should be counting our lucky stars.

Agreed, Dal Colle was clearly one of the best players on the ice at the top propscts game, had a monster season, excellent skater, NHL size, 200 foot game. He's a top 6 player for sure

I see mixed reports on his skating. Your saying excellent as do others but there are others who say not so good. Which one is it?lol

This kid has everything the islanders love in a prospect/player

High character high hockey sense/IQ and great work ethic.

I wouldn't say excellent. He's a notch or so above Draisaitl. The fact that he's so good one-on-one disguises his skating as a singular tool. He has great agility, and can control his body well in motion and with the puck on his stick.

His skating doesn't really affect his play (of course every prospect wants to improve etc). He is extremely good in traffic.

That's a fair comment, I wasn't trying to imply that Dal Colle skates like Matt Duchene but i thought he covered a lot of ground in that game so maybe that's excellent for the CHL but just above average compared to his future NHL peers

Thank you. After seeing the way Tavares Improved his skating from his rookie season I'm not as worried. Skating with the right help can be improved. Would love to see what Dal Colle could do with continued development and eventually playing along side a skilled center like Tavares and/or Strome.

Is his shot really as good as they say? Thank you again for the scouting report.

Don't his lack of PIM disturb some of you? I usually look at it to see if any fight in the dog. Over course of long season he should have ruffled a few feathers.

Out of the top 5 prospects, Dal Colle is the one who I have the most confidence in being a all-star type player.

Best package of skill in the draft. 1st overall consideration.

Yes. He has the best all around skillset. This guy has the hands to take you on one-on-one, vision to make high end passes, shot release to surprise goalies and the best part is he does this all draped in coverage. Not to mention the fact that he battles like hell for the puck in the offensive zone.

Some dogs don't have to fight. Judge this kid's competitiveness by how bad he wants the puck and how hard he'll work to keep it. Exactly what you want out of your offensive star/top 10 pick. MDC separates himself from the pack with this trait. He's going to be a machine when he matures.

no one here seems concerned with the second half of his season:

before new year's:

38gp, 27g, 35a, 62 pts, +9

after new year's:

29gp, 12g, 21a, 33pts, -1

He's at 2PPG currently in the playoffs and his team has moved on to the Conf Finals with him 4th in league scoring with 1,2,and 3 less games. Doesn't that count as second half?

At a closer look, January was really his only down month. Off the top of my head, people weren't impressed with him around WJC time.
