Meh. When Laughton was gone to the WJC I caught a pair of general's games and Dal Colle was invisible. Not only did he not produce but he literally did **** all in every other aspect of the games.

Obviously it was a small sample size but it put me off on him. His scoring tools and abilities are sweet but whenever I watch him i leave wanting more from him.

as a flyer and laughton fan I have to say he does not depend at all on Laughton.

Dal Colle is a stud winger, and is going to put up 40 goals next to tavares.

Am I wrong to compare Dal Colle to Kesler?

I believe Jake Virtanen is more Ryan Kesler. both players depends on their physical play, awesome powerful shot, speed and size, and their back checking abilities. Those were his attributes heading into the the 2003 draft. Dal Cole is more Ryan Getzlaf

Thx for the reply!!

I never said dal colle was a product of Laughton.

I said, that every time I watch him I leave wanting more. Not a huge fan.

Understandable.

I am the same with Ritchie right now. Watched him twice, closely, over the weekend and hated what I saw.

Sample size does wonders though. Dal Colle is a very decent player - I would take him over everyone, save 2 guys, in this draft.

Im not sure if you're serious but there is almost no chance he would put up 40 goals in the NHL next year... As of right now there is 2 players who have 40+ goals this year and there might be 4 or 5 who hit the mark. Nathan MacKinnon has 24 goals and is a much more dynamic player than Dal Colle

I am not even sure he plays in the NHL next year let alone put up 40 goals...

Where do you see that he said he'll put up 40+ goals next year. I'm sure he was talking as in the future that he'll be putting up 40+ goals with the help of Tavares. If he really meant to say that he'll put up those number next year with the help of Tavares then he seriously delusional. Those he know at the moment theirs only two players with 40+ goals which are Perry with 42 goals and Ovechkin with 50 goals. We should see a couple more player's reach the 40 plateau but no more then 5 more.

Give him a couple years and then we could revisit this argument.

You know what, that was a honest mistake. I thought it said "next year" and not next to. My faults!

You may not have said it directly. But you quoted and replied to a poster who said that MDC's success is not a result of Laughton and then you proceeded to explain that you were uninpresssed in the two games where you saw MDC play without Laughton. If you weren't trying to imply something to that effect, you ought to be clearer.

Rather than lead with the Laughton bit, you could have said in the two games you watch of MDC, you were not impressed.

To which I say, only two games? I would encourage you to watch some more. There are plenty where he is the best player on the ice.

Anyone knowledgeable on MDC and or his junior team have any thoughts if he will remain on the wing, or play centre next year?

He did play centre before but was moved to the wing correct?

I'm just wondering if based on the roster (I don't know enough about the roster to know who might be back, coming up, etc), if he gets moved to centre next year or not.

Or is it a skill-set thing, and he's much better on the wing?

Thanks.

I've watched muuuch more than 2 games. I was just offering up my thoughts on MDC being a product of Laughton and used those two games for that certain argument

I think it's a toss up.

Depends if the coach has someone fit enough to play 2nd line center.

Van Sompel has played a bit of Center these playoffs and has looked very comfortable. Wouldn't be surprised if they changed his path from a undersized skilled dman; to that of a shifty 2nd line Center.

If that is the case than I think they move Cassels up to 1C and have DalColle remain on the wing. (which seems likely, by the way these 2 have been playing together for these playoffs)

I think Cassels is capable enough now to take on the work load once Laughton graduates.

If MDC is back, and I think he will be, I think he stays on wing. Gennies will be stronger that way with Cassels and Sterk as top two centers. Harding will be third line center.
MDC hasn't played with Laughton in a while except pp. With Laughton out other teams can put top damn on MDC. He is gonna be a good one. Not a true power forward like a lucic because he doesn't hit much, but does go to dirty areas. Btw in playoffs MDC has 14 points and Laughton has 7. Just one of those guys who is a pure scorer.

I know if the Islanders draft Dal Colle, they probably will want him to stay a LW

+1. In my head, he's already an Islander. Barring a lottery win, I don't see it playing out any other way.

Agreed....

Assuming Reinhart Bennett and Ekblad go 1-2-3 I think the Isles Alsmost have to pick Dal Colle...

The only way they dont is if they Fall in love with one of Draisaitl Ritchie or Ehlers...

How good is Cole Cassels?

Guy was drafted in the 3rd round last year.. but put up surprising numbers. Posted 1.2 ppg over the regular season and now has 12 points in 7 playoff games.

I know he's a got a bit of a mean streak, and has some grit/sandpaper to his game too...

Is he just a product of playing with MDC on his wing? or does he actually have a shot at the NHL?

thats why he wouldnt be picked:laugh: Its a perfect fit IMHO...

Im already in love with this kid....I just hope I dont get my heart broken

Nah, Pulock and Reinhart were perfect fits too and they were picked. I have a feeling he's a Garth Snow player, especially since they almost never draft Europeans in the 1st round. And the one they did draft didn't work out so well.

3rd pick is the weird one.

If EDM is picking there, and Ekblad is gone - Anything could happen. Same can be said for FLA - they may want to pick a big versatile winger (Dal Colle, Draisaitl)

I still think Bennett slides a bit. 1:Reinhart/Ekblad 2:Ekblad/Reinhart 3.Dal Colle/Draisaitl 4. Draisaitl/Dal Colle 5. Bennett.

I think 1-2-3: Reinhart/Eakblad/Bennett 4/5 = Draidaitl - MDC....I think anyone of Bennet, Eakblad or Reinhart might go 1st overall depending on the team that's drafting but i dont see MDC or Draisaitl going before Bennett.
