Unless he's improved his wheels in the last couple of weeks since I last saw him play, I don't think he has Marleau's speed or smooth skating ability.

I read in some articles he's more like a Bobby Ryan. Doesn't have Marleau's speed.

I thought so. Every highlight I've watched of him never really showed speed. I can see him having similar stats to Marleau through his career though, especially if he plays with Tavares.

He's got good high end speed; just not an explosive first step.

The main reason he's considered such a good skater is because he has excellent agility.

Much more of a playmaker than Ryan IMO.

I thought he looked pretty quick on his first goal last night (of course I acknowledge that it was an OHL defender he beat and not a NHL one).

I don't think he's a slow skater. The poster asked specifically about being as fast as Marleau, and I don't think he's as fast a skater as Marleau is.

I always thought MDC looked like Malkin when I've watched him play. Not because they both wear 71, but because they both have that tall guy with a short stick look and both can be pretty shifty despite their size.

Seriosuly, saying he isn't as fast as Marleau is no insult. I don't think there are five skaters in the entire NHL who are faster than Marleau.

Bobby Ryan is basically a slower, worse defensive version of Marleau with better hands. So if that sounds like Dal Colle, than Ryan is a good comp.

He plays exactly like Malkin IMO. I don't really see any Bobby Ryan or Marleau similarities at all.

If he somehow miraculously (in your case) gets past the Islanders he's going to Vancouver. If he goes past 6th in this draft then there's something wrong with him.

Hed probably have to show up to all of his interviews smashed or something for that to happen.

And even then I think Van would still take a chance on him because we are that desperate for top end prospects.

Other than Reinhart, nobody in this draft fits NYI draft profile better than Dal Colle according to current information.

Hockey IQ - check
Character - check
Skill - check
Size - check (will need to fill out, but has a nice frame to work with)
Intangibles - Oshawa General and the Isles seem to love their ex-Oshawa players in Tavares and de Haan
Positional Need - check (could return to center and the Isles like versatility in their forwards)

I'll be very upset if Dal Colle is available and we don't take him.

Don't forget the best General of them all: Tony DeHart. :sarcasm:
