Hockey East and the big 10 are a LOT different.

the big 10, is for lack of a better phrase, ****ing terrible

Yea Connor has had the benefit of playing in a soft division on a great line and that certainly is helping his numbers out. Still really impressive for a freshman but there are some contributing factors.

definitely, not taking anything away from connor. He is a great player. But I try and scale back their production, even a Hawk prospect Motte on their line, who is playing great, i just know the Big10 is awful

I have no idea ...have all of the other top ppg producers played in good divisions?

I mean Larkin played on the same team last year right? It can't take away too much from production since Larkin is a stud in the NHL. Connor is also doing it as a Freshman which is rare no matter what division you're in. He's been a stud for several years in the USHL so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that he's now tearing up the NCAA

I don't think the Islanders would "regret" it in the long run even if Connor becomes a much better player than Barzal. I believe they said they only traded with Edmonton at that spot because Barzal was still available.
By that logic no team would regret their pick.

He's very good, but don't compare him to Eichel. They are the same age and Eichel's playing in the NHL this season and might score 60 points on a terrible team with terrible line mates while Connor's playing college hockey.

Connor's not the same level prospect, although there's a good possibility that he's a tier or two below, and is a Larkin level prospect.

No one said they were ? ? ?

I understand what you're saying but I believe that if you are choosing the highest rated player left on most draft pundits board, you will have no regrets, even if a player selected later ends up a better player. If you choose a player that is a bit off the board according to most and that player fails, you will regret it. This is what Boston and a few other teams did, in my opinion. Hypothetically, if Connor turns into a superstar and ends up better than Eichel, I don't think Buffalo will have any regrets about choosing Eichel 2nd overall.

Being a Michigan and Detroit fan I have watched a lot of both players and I think there is more than a good possibility that Connor is a Larkin level prospect. And I love Larkin.

The similarities between the two is incredible and I would not be surprised if they are both considered the steals of their respective draft classes down the road.

Are the Jets going to sign him after the season?

This is the 3rd amazing freshman season Michigan has had in the recent past, Trouba and Larkin being the previous two, and they both signed contracts.

Pure speculation, but I see him in the NHL next year. He is ready.

You might be right, but Trouba and Larkin both seemed more physically ready for the NHL than Connor. I think Connor seems less likely than either of them to jump to the NHL. On the other hand, it's hard to see how he'll be able to exceed his performance at the NCAA level.

Still can't believe how far this guy fell. I remember watching Boston cruise through their 3 picks and just laughing that they took neither Connor nor Barzal. Dallas and Boston seemed like two natural fits and they'll both be regretting it.

Agreed. Physically Trouba was far ahead of both of them. The biggest reason I think Connor is ready for the NHL is his play in the neutral /offensive zone. Consistently makes the "smart play", his skating is top-notch and helps him create scoring opportunities that just wouldn't be there otherwise.

When you look back at any draft for any team there is almost always a player left on the board who turns out better than the one they took. If teams were unhappy with a good player simply because there was someone who turned out better they would almost always be unhappy.

If the NYI get a really good player at 17 they will be happy with that even if the one at 17, 117 or 197 turns out better.
