who has more pro potential, Motte or Compher? I know Motte is small but is he Paul Byron small, or Brendan Gallagher small?

Potential, easily Connor. He is two years younger putting up better points and has the draft pedigree you'd expect from a high end draft pick. Even before this ncaa season, it was obvious to anyone who watched him that he had high end offensive talent

You do realize his question was about Compher and Motte, its pretty clear Connor has the most potential.

holy ****. Over 2 players and it drops right on the tape

Liked how he was looking straight at the goalie to freeze him, and made the "no look" saucer pass. Shows high end hockey IQ and offensive instincts.

My bad, read that wrong but it was late. Out of the compher and motte I'd probably lean towards compher. Similar numbers but compher is bigger and put up better numbers in his draft year. Pretty close though.

Is it too soon to say Boston should have taken him with one of their first round picks?
No, but the topic has been beaten to death and you can just as easily fault the Stars, as I'd probably take all of Boston's picks over Gurianov, and i'd probably take Connor over Crouse, Zacha, and Meier, and is on equal footing with Rantanen, Werenski and Barzal. The only guys I'd clearly take over Connor are the top 5 and Provorov. Granted guys like White and Konecny would also be challenging him.

In terms of offensive potential? It is Motte and it isn't really close. Connor and Motte lead the way offensively for that line. Compher is more likely to make it to the NHL and I see him becoming a solid 4th line center that can chip in some offense, play solid defense, agitate the opposition, and be a main stay on the PK.

I agree with this. Motte absolutely has higher offensive upside but Compher is an NHL lock in my mind.

Kyle Connor just extended his scoring streak to 20 games off an assist on Compher's goal and it's still the 1st period. It seems like he's way too good for NCAA competition at this point and if he doesn't make the Jets next year he should definitely be in the AHL

I'm on record saying Connor was the steal of the draft, before the Jets even picked him .. I still don't know what Boston was thinking (sorry in advance for nagging but I have some huge qualms about it).

As I said during the draft, the Jets had another very good draft.

NHLe is flawed, especially when trying to apply it across conferences in the NCAA. Plus its a raw projection tool that doesn't make an attempt to take in other factors.

Agreed.

But any way you slice it, Connor is having a sparkling draft+1 season. He's easily leading the NCAA in scoring as a freshman, after dominating the USHL for a couple of seasons. With the recent success of grads from the USHL (Larkin, White, Boeser, etc.), it's pretty clear that Connor's performance at that level was noteworthy. Some draft analysts recognized that during his draft year (Hockeyprospect.com ranked him at #5 overall, and Button ranked him at #6). It's not as though he came out of nowhere.

In Connor's current 21 game point streak in the NCAA: 21g 24a (2.14 ppg). It doesn't take an NHLE analysis to know that is outstanding production for a college freshman.
