Both pretty equal for different reasons. Really liked White and wanted him with Winnipeg's 2nd pick in the first round.

Glad we got Connor though. Wouldn't change a thing.

Connor was better at the draft and is having a better year since so why would anything have changed?

White is a centre, which is obviously a more valuable position. He is also better defensively while being quite good offensively too. I think it's pretty even at this point.

White is more of a sure thing IMO. Connor seems more boom or bust. Elite skill level and great vision with the puck. But there are only so many top 6 spots in the NHL. White seems like a guy who could fit in pretty much anywhere.

I like Connor's ability to process the game faster, so I'll take him by a smidge.

White was a C at the draft, so no changes there. Both players have stepped up their game in their freshman year. In fact Connor is on pace to have perhaps the best freshman year in NCAA history. The only way to suggest some sort of change in order is to say Connors performance is an aberration while White’s reflects his real ability, but this isn’t really reasonable because it could just as easily be the other way around.

Meh. It’s becoming increasingly apparent that for prospects distinguishing good players from good defensive players doesn’t work. Smart skilled players with good attitudes can learn how to play good defence but good defensive players won’t suddenly become more skilled. Draft for skill and develop defence is the way to go.

I don’t think you should draft to have different types of players on lines 3 and 4. It’s better to figure out what type of players you are looking for and draft those. Some of the ones that fail to become top 6/9 will still end up filling other roles regardless. Lack of focus on what you want means you are prioritizing nothing, which is a good way to end up with a bad team. This doesn’t mean you ignore the best player available, rather it’s part of your process of figuring out who the best player is.

The jets aren't deep enough, sadly, to have anyone block him from getting a top 6 spot fairly soon, within 2 seasons at the most..

His point totals are insanely high but so are his linemates'. However, Motte and Compher never really produced at an extremely high rate before this season whereas Connor led the USHL by a pretty big margin his draft year. Should this be a bad sign that his scoring is a product of good chemistry or a good sign that he has the ability to make those around him better? Pretty limited footage of him out there so it's hard to tell

Not many players with elite skill level and great vision bust, especially when they have produced those offensive numbers so consistently through development years. Add that to the fact that he is going to have decent size (6'1", and apparently works hard off the ice) and I think he has a low "bust" potential.

Was leading the team in points on the 2nd line still at just a bit over a PPG, then once he got put on the 1st line with Motte and Compher, all 3 of them just took off. So he definitely benefits from better linemates, but it seemed like he ended up being the missing catalyst for that top line to really take off. Definitely a good sign on his end.

Freshman Hobey Baker candidate? Supremely skilled - he's a future top offensive producer.

That CCM line is really putting their mark on the NCAA together. I like Compher's game as well.

1G 1A last night for Connor against Wisconsin. Up to 46 pts in 26 games on the year.

Same scoring pace as Eichel last year. He might make it a tough decision about whether to sign him for next year. I think the Jets are now accelerating the integration of young players with their remaining vet core so I could see them promoting Connor to get his development started at the NHL level.

Have to think this kid will get signed. I think him splitting some time between NHL and AHL next year would be the most beneficial for his development.

During the 2013-14 season Gaudreau, Hayes and Arnold all finished in the top 6 in NCAA scoring for Boston College.
