Just wondering since I don't follow NCAA hockey too closely but won't it get tougher later in the year when they start conference play or is it not like College basketball and Football in that way?

you would be correct, some people don't even count interconference points because depending on the coach they may use it as an exhibition game. Also within conferences teams are more even and matched to play specific styles while out of conference there can be large mismatches.

Tonight Michigan (9th ranked) beat an unranked conference team however (Minnesota)

He is some kind of talent. He's taken every league he's played in by storm. 1-2 years till he's an NHL player?

I'm hoping the Jets can sign him next summer and get him into training camp as fast as possible. The rest is up to him as to whether he sticks or goes down to the AHL. If he needs some seasoning that is all but fine. Kid is extremely versatile though so I can see him making the roster out of TC.

I think the big question will be size / strength. It might be a couple of years before he's strong enough to be effective at the NHL level.

I think 1 more year with Michigan would be good for him. He will probobly be the "Go-To" guy next season when Motte and rest leave

yes and no. the b1g isnt a good conference in hockey right now. minnesota, wiscy, and msu are down. osu isnt particularly good. psu seems good. michigan is probably the most talented b1g team. ordinarily ud expect conf play to be tighter and more difficult competition but it wont be if the 6 b1g teams dont have good teams.

I liked Connor a lot pre-draft. Don't like the Jets but they have a good prospect in their system.

Not surprised at all to see him do well offensively.

Agree with this, though he might be a "go to" guy this season, if his productivity stays this strong. He's been leading the team in scoring basically since the beginning of the season. That's not that common for an NCAA freshman.

Im not concerned about some size at all. He has the speed and natural skill to make up for it. He can be a solid two way player if need to be though he shys away from physicality sometime but that will come with time in the Jets system.

Now an image of The Natural flashed in my head. Hope Kyle plays with a better hockey sense than Kaner does.

Other than speed, he isn't like E Kane at all. He's an excellent puckhandler, has good vision and is a good and willing passer.

I was at the game on Friday, and let's just say I believe Jets have themselves a good one. Just as advertised, excellent skating ability and offensive instincts.

Seems like maybe they're straying away from one dimensional players. Connors pretty much all offense, albeit a pretty good offensive player.

Wrong!

nki's detailed assessment of Connor - had him ranked 9th overall. Doesn't have really anything negative to say about him, even defensively:

In the defensive zone, Connor does a good job supporting the break-out when the team gets the puck, but he is also adept at defending without the puck as he displays solid positioning, both picking up men when the game is moving at speed as well as more stationary defensive settings. It is a rare sight to see him lose his man, as Connor displays good vision and remains in control in all three zones with and without the puck. His play style is smart and mature, rarely making any moves that don't make sense, Connor consistently takes smart angles, supports the play and gives off a feel of a natural on ice making it look easy and polished.

Personally i had him in that group of 12 players that were picked early in the first round. But that quality of his opponents made him fall.

Probably similar to what is going to happen to Jost and Fabbro this year

Colin White is currently at 23 pts in 16 games. So the two of them are head to head for top freshman.

Connor and White would have been a dream draft for the Jets. I liked them both pre-draft, and would have been happy with White at #17. Too bad the Sens snapped him up before the Jets second pick. I still like how the Roslovic pick is working out so far. He's had a strong freshman season so far (easily his team's top scorer as a freshman), even though he also wasn't good enough for the USA U-20 team. :shakehead

im so happy him and Tuch wont be at WJC... as far as being a Team Canada fan is concerned...

also, I am so happy I have Connor and Tuch on my keeper team haha

Connor is deadly
