He hasn't made any team look bad yet, he has done nothing. He has two points at the WHC while a Bruins player has three and he was a free agent signing and has proven himself at the pro level. People get a bit excited a little to early. Let's wait a few years til he makes the NHL, he is not making it next season.

Yes I am Bruins fan, big deal. Until this guy proves something a the next level, we should lighten the excitement a bit. We are not talking McDavid, Matthews or Eichel here. He looked out of place against Canada and yesterday was better but competition was lesser. Let's see what he does tomorrow against Finland. Personally I hope he has a successful career, but I usually wish that for all these young players, but to read some of the "scouting reports" on here, if I had not watched the games myself I would be wondering why he wasn't selected first overall. Watch some of the NHL playoffs and ask yourself how he would make out there, not very well, he has lots of growing to do. He is probably two years away from playing for the Jets, when you take into account what they already have.

he turned pro and will get a real chance to stick with the Jets next year (and looking good to be penciled in already)

so yeah...you seem to not know what you're really talking about.

He didn't sign out of college to play AHL, he'll be on the Jets next year.
I'm a Bruins fan as well, albeit one who lives in Winnipeg, so the Jets are my second team. I have no issue admitting the Bruins dropped the ball here. This kid is going to be something, and while you're right, the hype is a bit much, I expect he'll round into an offensive threat, capable of 30 goals and 60ish points. Given his comparables in the NCAA I don't see why he couldn't have a Larkin type impact without the stout 2 way game.

Agreed. I think Connor will have to start on the 3rd line. Our top two lines might be....

Laine-Little-Wheeler
Perreault-Scheifele-Ehlers

And then they should still have some nice offensive pieces for the third line. Aside from Connor, they will have Dano, Stafford, Armia, Petan, Burmistrov all looking for a third line spot. Then guys like Thorburn, Copp, Lowry, and maybe Lemieux looking to fill in the forwards. Competition for the Jets will be stout all the way around.

Jeez ... You understand we Bruins fans, get excited for what some of our prospect have done this year? You understand no one has even come close to achieve what Connor did and still do this year? Can fans be excited about him too? Talk about homerism ...

What are the chances this kid makes the Jets next season?
Picked him up in my deep keeper league but wondering if it's premature.

He wouldn't be hurt by spending some time with the Moose but I'm 90% confident that he wins a spot with the Jets out of camp.

He's likely penciled in, but it will be a very competitive camp with lots of your talent. There will only room to keep at most 3 waver exempt forwards not named Ehlers. You'll effectively have Laine, Connor, Petan, Copp, Dano and a couple others all competing for 3 spots.

Wheeler
Little
Schiefele
Perrault
Stafford

EHLERS
Lowry
Burmistrov

Above should be in.. 8 players

Connor
Laine
Copp
Armia
Petan
Dano

2 of the above will not make the opening night.

Unless either Laine or Connor really craps the bed, they should start with the big club.

Thorburn ( is the 13th forward , is is good in the locker room you know )

Lemiuex
Lipon
Kosmochuk
De Leo

Ahl, they should get a couple of games with the big club . Unless they light it up during the pre season. Lemiuex is the only one with potential to do that.

Peluso ( Ahl for sure )

Wheeler
Little
Schiefele
Perrault
Stafford

EHLERS
Lowry
Burmistrov

Armia would not clear wavers so it's very likely he's on the roster. I guess he could wind up in the press box, but IMO Thorburn and Peluso will be the 13th and 14th forwards.

That leaves 3 spots for
Connor
Laine
Copp
Petan
Dano

Interesting, I would prefer to trade Stafford than send down 2 of Petan, Dano, or Copp.

I'd prefer that as well, not just to make room but I think he has some value but we may need his contract to make the 25% minimum for an expansion draft

Really unfortunate that he was injured at the World Championships. He looked really good prior to the injury. I know it is day to day, anyone know what the injury is? Presumably nothing that will affect his preparation for the NHL season.

I wouldn't bet against Brandon Tanev being on the 4th line. Almost guaranteed; he suits that role perfectly.

I'd definitely bet against Tanev being on the 4th line, and would say he's almost guaranteed to start in the AHL.

Skilled guys like mentioned above: Connor, Petan, Dano etc. won't be competing for 4th line minutes. The roles are clearly defined, and then you compete against your 'weight' class for those spots.

None of the above are 6-8 minutes a game, energy guys.

Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler
Laine-Little-Perreault
Connor-Burmistrov-Dano/Armia
Lowry-Copp-Dano/Armia

That's not including Stafford who, barring a trade, is basically guaranteed a roster spot, and also has Petan sent down along with assuming Thorburn is finally not a regular on the team.

Players who fit your bill of 6-8 minute energy guys such as Lemieux and Lipon could also prove themselves to be above him in the depth chart. Also, the Jets have shown they have no problem playing skilled players such as Petan and Armia on the 4th line.

Tanev is unlikely to even play 200 games in the NHL. He looked alright in 3 NHL games this year but those were basically given to him to get him to sign with the Jets and the we were in the middle of the tank. He could see some time in the NHL next year due to injuries and maybe he completely proves me wrong, but as this point he is a colossal far cry from being almost guaranteed to be on the 4th line to start the year.

Hes injured? I thought he was a healthy scratch for a couple of games.

All great points. Many I agree with.....we'll see. I say, Tanev on the 4th line.

Kyle looked NHL ready to me before his injury. The only question to me is he needs more filling out. His speed and instincts were noticeable. Jets fans have reasons to be optimistic. Add him to Scheifele as impressive Jets players this WHC.

he has been injured.

hopeful he plays tomorrow against Canada for a shot at the Gold..a lot to ask for a kid to step back in after missing a few games to play in that pressure cooker.

he looked as solid as you could expect playing against men for the first time. Connor will be in the NHL next year with the Jets.

4th lines get 6-8 min when you put players like Brandon Tanev on them. The Jets have the talent of ice a 4th line capable of playing 10 min a game. Currently we are looking at something like Armia – Copp/Burmistrov – Dano. With what the Jets have, Dano fits that line better than Tanev does.

Yup, preaching to the choir, but......we'll see. Competition will be fierce. Let the best 'men' win.

Call it a 'hunch'......Tanev on the 4th line.
