Lemieux was really liked by the Jets last draft and when he ws still on the board they made calls about moving up to get him , but they didn't have a second and he of course went at the top of round two.

He was targeted by Chevy in the Kane trade and he was adamant on his inclusion. Chevy made comments that the fans in Winnipeg are going to love him for the way he plays and his intensity and that he always finishes a check .

Having the Barrie / Hawerchuk connection likely helped in them initially liking him and also in having him be part of the package they received for Kane.

Lemieux made some brash comments about expecting to make the Sabres but I doubt he's going to be a problem child as some have alluded to after the comments came out about not signing there.

We'll see how his year is next season but he's a ways away to be sure.

He had an attitude about not going in round 1 and then an attitude about not making the NHL 3 years before he will be ready to the point where he wasn't going to sign with the team.

It bares watching.

When you send him down after camp next year you might get a call from daddy.

Highly doubt that , I don't mind a prospect being borderline cocky , part of that is just some swagger . Winnipeg , no offense is not in the same situation as Buffalo is as an organization . The relationship with Hawerchuk is also something to be considered , he's not only part of the Jets past , he has been coaching at player development camps .

Chevy really liked him , and then made sure he got him the second time there was an opportunity , I doubt we have any concerns. His dad was despised unless he played for your team , sure Brendan will have pretty much the same aura about him.

Seen plenty of Lemieux live...he can be a really good player, but my God is he selfish. He takes the stupidest penalties and just seems to think it's all about him. If he can get his giant fat head through the doors of the NHL and start thinking "team" he can be a valuable asset.

He didn't show any of that attitude while with the Jets in pre-season. Quite the opposite. He was very disciplined and willing to take a hit to make a play.

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree I guess.

I really liked his game and attitude in pre-season. Coach Maurice did, too.

I really hope he turns out to be the star of that trade, his numbers are insane. I just hope he's not an Evander Kane carbon copy.

Me too. I see something changing in this kid though. It's like he thought he needed to be a goon like his father to make it. And is finding out even he has more skill then he thought. Like a lesser Max Domi. It's too bad for Buffalo that he didn't find it out sooner.

He scored 41 goals last year and 27 in his draft year. He's not all of a sudden scoring goals.

Claude was a lot more than just a goon though, as much as it pains me to say that. He had some legit skills. He'd be suspended right out of the league in today's NHL but he was a fan favorite in his heyday. Wouldn't be surprised if Brenden was the Draco to Claude's Lucius, revering his dad in all respects, but is realizing now that pro hockey organizations don't tolerate those antics anymore.

That's my point. He's always had the talent. If he can drop the gooning he can and will be an NHLer I think.
