Heavily reported that AK has alot of social anxiety and self conscious issues..

What better place to play than in Hollywood

Really? That’s too bad. Sounds similar to what Johan Franzen battled during his career.

Ah yes, Manhattan Beach, where the Kings are always complaining that fans just don't leave them alone and are recognized anywhere they go in the big city.

Lol wasnt talking about the fans....more so at the culture of Hollywood and LA.

What exactly is the culture of Hollywood and L.A.? How exactly does it relate to the Manhattan Beach lifestyle that members of the Kings actually live in?

I'm definitely rooting for the kid at this point - hope he pans out and has an awesome career in LA. He does seem a little awkward in his interviews but I won't try to read any more into it than that.
Yep, just makes me think higher of him actually, i now wish the Ducks had drafted the guy.
All he needs to do is just focus on hockey & not care what anyone thinks or says and not let anything get in the way.

I don't think his personality off the ice will have any bearing on his success at the next level. Some guys are introverted off the ice but are completely different on the ice.

Of far greater concern is his perceived (real?) issues of having a low motor and low compete levels. If those are red flags at the junior level, how is he going to fare at the AHL let alone the NHL levels? He has time to prove the scouts wrong but he appears to have a big hill to climb.

Could be worse, he could be playing in Canada where he would become a celebrity(ie Toronto or Montreal, hell even Edmonton can be much tougher then LA)

Development isn't linear, you have no idea if he will succeed or not and especially not because of skill and "being good."

sure but get off this “ attitude issue train” that pure speculation and bullshit and not warranted because you dont know an facts on this

move on

I said nothing about that, I said that you're wrong about automatically excelling because you're "good" and "skilled." Just blatantly false.

Worst case is the Kings got themselves their own Josh Ho-Sang.

I mean, really worst case is they got their own Pavel Brendl or Alex Volchkov, but I don't think it makes sense to plan for the black plague.

Alex Semin vibes maybe?

Some people need to be shown that it's ok to try new things and fail repeatedly, otherwise they get stuck perfecting the one thing they know they're good at. Semin was more broken down than encouraged, but he still developed an elite defensive game as a result. As long as hockey media doesn't get a enjoyment out of beating this kid down over perceived shortcomings, he should be fine.

I guess don't let him go full bongos in a fight either.

Daniel Sprong 2.0 ? A 2nd round pick like Kaliyev that also possessed a accurate cannon of a shot & plays a game focused on his shooting ability. Its been said people think he's cocky or something that rubs coaches the wrong way. Sprong fell out of favor with his coach in Pitt and was being scratched in Anaheim for quite a few games for no reason, could there be more to Sprong than just his performance like with Kaliyev ?

Understand your point but I dont think you understand how crippling anxiety can be. It's a health issue and a risk to clubs picking him. I'm pulling for the guy and I hope he battles through and becomes a NHL player.
I probably understand better than you think, as I wonder if you've ever actually known people with such issues and understood their circumstances and what kind of people they are on the inside. I'd much rather "risk" this kind of a player than go for a player with far less talent than him.
As someone who has extreme anxiety & very mild autism, i admit i saw maybe a tiny bit of myself in watching Kaliyev at the draft(his mannerism, eyes, nerviousness etc) but that doesn't mean he has social anxiety or aspergers. If i were to imagine what someone with Aspergers(mild autism) would be like as a hockey player well i think i'd be narrowly focused on one area of the game such as scoring goals and not as focused on defense/skating.
There a few advantages someone with Aspergers would have in hockey: May have super high tolerance for pain, may be unaware they have an injury. Could eventually develop a intimidating effect, meaning if someone on other team disrespects a player with aspergers they might go Tim Wilson on them if they feel triggered. Being super focused on one area of the game means they could master it at a very high level such as scoring a lot of goals.
When someone with anxiety plays a extremely active sport like hockey all that exercise creates endorphins in the body which help fight off anxiety & stress, thus Hockey is better for anxiety than Baseball for example.

Anyways someone like that would benefit from being drafted in the 2nd round over the 1st, less pressure in living up to where they were drafted.
That's a pretty fair assessment. However, it doesn't mean they'd only be focused on one area of hockey, they could be super focused on hockey itself. But there might be more care and direction required. Of course, you can't say for sure what exactly it might be, but I don't think that that's so important. What's important is that you have a very talented player who might require a bit more care and direction and obvious things explained.
