Can someone enlighten me on his agility and speed? He looked slow when I saw him but I wasn't sure if he was off or just looked slower because of his size.

He's always been a little misleading, because he's got such a long stride and he hasn't always skated his hardest, especially before this year. So I could definitely see how he would look slow on the wrong viewing. Can someone enlighten me on his agility and speed? Of course, Mantha has the assist on tons of those goals, so it's a give and take. I think that's really just how they work together. It's been great for AA, but I do wonder if it's really the best for Mantha. They don't do a ton of give and go, though; it's mostly AA going full speed ahead and Mantha getting him the puck. Maybe Mantha should be more assertive. Hard to tell.Mantha and Athanasiou have the same number of games played and points. Though Athanasiou has more goals.
8 pts in his last 4 games
11 pts in his last 7
13 pts in his last 10
The dude is catching fire
He's clearly a bust. Wings should move on from him. Jets offer a conditional 3rd for him![]()
is this kid going to bust?
Last year people were saying he was not scoring because of the rapids depth and now its because of a lack of depth?
ITT: A whole lot of denial. He just doesn't look like an NHL top 6 talent.
I can't see him being anywhere close to PPG
Any of you Mantha experts care to comment on his recent play?I think we are pretty informed. He was not that good last year and has 2 goals in 13 games this year to go with 7 points. YOur definition of "on fire" needs work. I would wholeheartedly agree with the above poster that he has not been that "good".

He's playing well, and my comments weren't stat watching it was calling out the excuse that was being used, which was true at the time.Any of you Mantha experts care to comment on his recent play?
The two big ones I'd go
MTL-Juulsen (Leafs need a RD prospects, and I'd say there is no clear BPA between him, Scherbek and McCarron)
Ottawa- White, I think he might be the steal of the 1st round due to injury/health problems, looks like a top 6 center with legitimate #1 C potential.
Divisional rivals
Bos-Zboril, followed by Senyshen who I think people are overly critical of due to draft position.
Buf-no idea, team has a ton of young talent but they are all in the NHL
Detroit-Mantha, he still has skills and is probably a top 6 winger
Fla-Crouse, great speed/power game and will open up space for top line talents with his forechecking.
Tampa-Deangelo, like his upside.
Fair enough, you were still part of the group claiming all the reasons given for his lack of numbers were just 'excuses'.He's playing well, and my comments weren't stat watching it was calling out the excuse that was being used, which was true at the time.
edit: and I already complimented him this week.
Actually what I claimed was that last year people were saying he wasn't scoring because of depth and this year wasn't scoring because of a lack of help. Was more commenting on the irony of the reasons given. I have an individual opinion, and wouldn't say I was part of a group, i never bashed Mantha as a player directly. And the lack of numbers along with managements comments on him at the end of last year led to people rightfully questioning him.Fair enough, you were still part of the group claiming all the reasons given for his lack of numbers were just 'excuses'.
People were saying his numbers were bad because the team as a whole was completely unable to score. Which was true. The Griffins are now on a 13-game winning streak or something like that, they have turned it around as was expected and Mantha's numbers have skyrocketed as expected.Actually what I claimed was that last year people were saying he wasn't scoring because of depth and this year wasn't scoring because of a lack of help. Ummm, i quoted people who did.People weren't saying he wasn't scoring because of depth - people were saying he wasn't scoring because he broke his ****ing leg.
He's looked great since the preseason and hasn't stopped. The only difference is the points are there now.
Funny how no one here wanted to talk about point totals until it fit their argument. Now it's all anyone is talking about. Typical.![]()

Funny how if he was a leafs prospects he would get **** on, despite every single wings prospect treated as the next great one.
Don't take it the wrong way guys, we have a lot of Leaf posters who are programmed to feel better about their favourite prospect by crapping on others. It happens on our board all the time, from the old "Kadri vs. Frattin" **** storms, to the "Kadri vs. Colborne" crap fests, to the current "Nylander vs. Marner" threads where they are constantly pitted against each other by some.
Mantha is a phenomenal prospect who I've liked since 2013, no doubt the wings will turn him into a stud IMO.
