Listing to Nonis on TSN about the goaltending and it sounded like he was looking to upgrade but he's not going to pay the kind of price that Van city is looking for. I do like the sound of this ride out with what u have if it works great if not wait till the off season or the trade deadline if the deal is there. :handclap:

That is the way I read the situation as well. I'm fine with that. Overpaying and losing our youth, good prospects or picks doesn't get this team to where we want long-term. I'm fine with being patient.

I'd rather not trade for Luo so Vancouver can be in disarray. And then when they don't win a cup a cup and all of their top players are old/gone I can laugh at the pathetic fans. Gilles doesn't control the field here. Luongo's contract is ****. Taking it would mean Nonis has gone bananas. I'll do it for Connolly , Lombardi and a second. Then later flip him for a 1st and a prospect.

That was a joke. But still please, no Luongo
Yah because this is a video game and all

GM can talk all he wants about being in no hurry, but all I know is every interview with a Canuck, all the chatter, is Luongo related. Major distraction.

Does Gillis actually think any team is going to give him anything of value and bail him out of a bad contract he signed? If so lets unload Komisarek and Connelly for other teams top prospects!

Franson , MacArthur and a 2nd 2013 = Done deal !

I think this is a very fair deal for both sides! They get a guy who can potentially be a top 4 D, they get a secondry scorer in Mac, plus they get a 2nd rounder too. In return we get an elite goalie who is a borderline HOF'er, not too shabby.

The only hand Vancouver has is IF a starting goalie goes down on a contending franchise. He will be able to get value.

These are the only teams that IMO would/could trade for him besides T.O.

Boston - Rask is overrated, has had injury trouble and can blow up.

Jersey - If Marty goes down, Lu could step in and they wouldnt miss a beat.

Chicago - Crawford is either hot or cold and that act might get old.

San Jose - Vet team that needs to win now, with a GM that likes to make deals.

Tampa - Still close to home for Lu and if Lindback fails that owner has deep pockets. Lu also is a Stevy Y guy from the olympics.

Washington - They have felt for a long time they are a goalie away from the cup...

Edmonton - Not sure they can/would spend the cash but a goalie on that team would be a HUGE difference.

Luongo is a top 10 goalie while Komi is trash and Connolly is nothing special. Luongo has a great cap hit (compared to other goalies of his talent level), but yes, horrible term, and it carries some cap penalties down the road, which drops his value. He still has some value though.

Completely disagree with Boston. Rask is the real deal IMO. and injury troubles? huh? not the last time I checked.

Other one I disagree with is Washington. They will give Holtby the chance he earned.

Edmonton will probably give Dubnyk a chance and I'm sure Nucks would prefer Lu not to be in their division

Agree with the rest, although IIRC Yzerman said he isn't interested in trading for an older goalie.

Lol seriously? Okay I'll play along

Boston - Rask is the real deal and if he goes down they won't deal for a guy with a 10 year contract.

New Jersey - heh maybe, only because Marty is close to retirement

Chicago - no ****ing chance. This would have been like Habs a few years ago dealing either Halak or Price to Boston if they needed a goalie.

San Jose - Vancouver would and should want him out East. It would take an overpayment IMO

Tampa - I'll agree. I've actually said this before.

Washington - Holtby..? I heard he's pretty good. Still think Neuvirth has potential too

Edmonton - see Chicago. This would guarantee one of your biggest rivals to be an absolute powerhouse. If I was Vancouver I'd ask for at least Yakupov. That would still make Oilers a big threat.

Rask isn't that good... We overrate him because Raycroft was soooo bad. Not only do i think he is NOT the real deal, I think Boston is going to run him out of town. Rask is nothing but a good backup.

Chicago & Edmonton would have to overpay yes. I'm saying they might make a call though.

As for Holtby... He has been good but who knows.... The year before Riemer looked great down the stretch the same as Holtby... Caps feel they are a goalie away and can afford him.

The bottom line is that the ONLY hand Van can play against us is there is interest from other teams.... Maybe not much but it's there.

Are you kidding me? Rask has been amazing every time he has been given a chance by Boston to play. Why is he only a good backup? If Rask was only a "good backup" as you say, why do we still hate the trade? No one would talk about that trade if Rask's potential was just a "good back up".

there's no way they'll trade him within conference, much less within division

the leafs are the only team that give division teams players to kick them in the ass for the next decade

Is Mike Gillis being intentionally see stupid?

He says the Luongo contract is great because we can't do frontloaded deals anymore...did he even read the CBA?

If Luongo is such a good goalie, why are you trying to trade him and start a relatively inexperienced goale?

this is bad. no changes
we're going to have to watch this inept group again :(

This is the sort of thing that makes me believe fans wouldn't accept an Edmonton type rebuild. We don't need to make big changes, we need to stay the course, keep our prospects, our picks and continue to build this team up. One big move isn't going to change anything, it actually will kill any type of farm system we have.
