Same assets? Obivously you take Luongo. Is that even a question?

Maybe if you actually think Luongo is going to get vancouver a package anywhere close to Gardiner+.

The guy is signed until 2022, lest we forget.

He isn't, but why wouldn't you want to double your chances at the most important position there is?

How many goalies with "Potential" ca you have? We have Reimer, Scrivens., Ryas and Owuya.

If you're going to get another goalie it must be a proven one for once.

Gillis on Luongo: Been a lot of discussion with other teams. Says multiple opportunities to do something with Luongo, if choose to do it

trade scenarios: "I haven't talked to anybody about taking a portion of his contract. Everything is on the table."
The new CBA has added to the interest in #Luongo.

Feels no pressure to move Luongo unless its a deal that improves the team.
Luongo's contract is not an issue in a trade. Lots of interest, but looking for specific players that can help now and down the road

Canuckleheads are blasting their pants off with these tidbits of BS posturing over on the main board.

I'd be ok with getting Lou if it we manage to land a couple of top tier UFAs in the off season, atleast then Lou's short timeline would have some real meaning to it.

If we had landed Parise/Suter, i'd be all in on Lou.

If say, we land Getz and Perry, once again i'd be all in on Lou.

What we are now and where we are headed, no thanks on Lou even if what we trade is reasonable.

Wouldnt getting Lou make Perry and Getzlaf wanna come here that much more.

We have to get them before luongo and also wait and see if VAN just buys him out. If we don't get perry and getzlaf, we'll be stuck with a goalie who won't be enough to keep us in the playoffs for the next few years.

They won't buy him out. How much value he has is highly debatable, but he certainly has some value.

Judging by Nonis answers to media, I get the feeling Luongo won't be a Leaf. I guess anything can happen though.

This is the first real test Nonis will face...and if he passes this trial I will be 100% on his side for it.

This comes down to patience.

Jonas Siegel basically ripped off my thoughts on the matter in his latest Luongo article.

I am in the "Later" category.

I think he's definitely been in talks with Gillis, but Gillis is still asking for too much. Sounds like he's asking for too many young valuable pieces.

Things could change this week, but I don't think Luongo is coming here. Gillis is asking for far too much

Shouldn't come as a surprise, ever since the presser when Nonis stated he was more patient than Burke. I just checked in to see what the guys who were saying this was done and done by noon today are saying now.

It ain't happening dude.

I am sure he will be thankful for that.

What happens if he doesn't pass your test?

Only two interested teams, and neither of them have that pressing a need for Lu. A position of strength if I've ever seen one.

Everybody knows the Canucks are screwed in this situation. Luongo pretty much has to be traded. He's not gonna sit on the bench for 4 months, and neither will Schneider. They've clearly chosen to go with Schneider so Luongo is now totally out of the picture. They have no leverage with Luongo so when a deal does happen, I expect a very ****** return for the Canucks.

They can forget Kadri or Gardiner. If I was Nonis I would give them MacArthur or Connolly and a pick or prospect. Take it or leave it because anything more is barely worth it considering the situation up in Vancouver.

I was on the main board last night and they claim that they have no cap issues for next season....looking at cap geek they will have a lot of tough decisions moving forward.

Can they buyout Ballard? I still don't fully understand buyouts. Can teams only buyout players that they signed themselves?

I will lose all respect for John Shannon if leafs don't get Luongo. He's been pushing it non-stop for weeks. In fact, according to him, today is the day it's supposed to happen.
