Why is everyone getting pumped up for Kadri. Every analyst states that the kid is a liability defensively, and is probably gonna be a AHL player for most of his career cause of that. I think he has all the offensive talent but, its true he is lazy in his own end and floats in the defensive zone. Toronto needs to trade for a true #1 centre. Stasny is a quality centre, in response to Roeper. Stasny wins face-offs and gels very nicely with Kessel as seen in the Olympics. Is he overpaid? Ya but I would like to have a kid who will play both ways and have a rhythm with Kessel already than pray that Kadri can even crack the line-up this year, let alone play 1st line centre. Carlyle is head coach and he preaches defense and Kadri doesnt fit the bill under that scheme, Stasny or ROR definately do.

What analyst says this?

Sportsnet friday night is one example with Millard, Shannon and May is one that comes to mind at the top of head. I'm not saying he cant change I'm just saying if there is a chance to trade him while he is a prospect and a centre is available, pull the trigger.

What analyst said that? More baseless statements.

Stastny is overpaid and overrated. Hasn't been close to PPG in 3 years, and that was his only year close to PPG. It'll be like bringing in another Connolly, but with a worse contract.

Trading for Luongo hurts the team. It throws away the possibility of drafting a franchise C in the top 5. Given our roster, we can't do that.

 Stop already with this nonsense. We won't trade for an elite goalie because we're hoping to finish last overall, not mention that with the new CBA something like 18 teams have a shot at #1 overall in the lottery?

14*

And tanking is still rewarded, its not 14 teams with equal chances, it's like the NBA draft lottery. The only difference this brings is that in the rare year a heavy underdog wins the lottery (like New Jersey in 2011), they will pick first instead of only moving up 8 spots. That's all that will change. Plus how often has that really happened?

What? What are you watching? Is he over paid yes but Stasny is way better than snadbag skates Connolly. Connolly does not win face-offs, Stas does. TC skates like he has cement in his pants, Stas faster. TC older at 31, Stas is 27. Points for TC 36 and minus 14, Stas had 53 and minus 8. Defensively Stas is better and and uses his body better, he has played with Kessel and they clicked together really good. So ya I would.

It doesn't matter because either way we won't finish dead last.

I dont think you guys are looking at this realistically. Kadri is crap defensively, prove me wrong.

Compare Kadri's +/- with the rest of his team mates and you can gauge if he is a defensive liability. Realistically, for his age he is not even close to horrible. He is actually defensively responsible. It is the odd time where he doesn't read the play right which jumps out at people who realistically just don't like the kid.

It's not nonsense actually, it's a very valid point.

What does adding Lou at this point in time actually do for us?

We are going to draft a player HOPING that one day he will be as valuable as Luongo already is.

3 years ago I would have agreed with you. But this is the exact type of thinking that got us to make the Kessel trade, and ****ed us out of a franchise #1 C and a franchise #1 D prospect, and has kept us stuck on a treadmill. Luongo is right for this team, but it is the wrong time to make the deal before we see what we have this year. Just like Kessel was right for this team, but Burke made the deal at the wrong time before seeing what we had that season.

PATIENCE.

If, a Toronto/Vancouver trade really has been worked out already, as some media people stated, we should hear about it anytime now. I would be moderately surprised if that were the case. I think the game of trade chicken may be played out for some time.

If we don't make the playoffs very soon, there's a solid chance that we will lose Kessel, and maybe someone else.
If we get Luongo and get into the playoffs, Kessel will be more likely to stay, other UFA will be much more likely to sign here.

What you're suggesting is blowing up this team and building from the ground up. But that won't happen.
