Vancouver has just terrible prospects and their team has peaked. their time as a true cup contender is over.

The Leafs have a much better future.

Ya like I posted in another, it seems like Nonis is gonna do jack squat!!! I do not like this at all. We need to get a #1 centre and a quality back-up goaltender or Luongo.

Sounds like he's happy with a proper rebuild. You have an issue with this?

Apparently Luongo will not approve a trade until he knows Florida is out of the running for good. Has his heart set there, wife loves it and he already has a house in the area.

I can't see him going into the season without making some moves/tweaks. The rebuild will continue its course.

I'm guessing that the trade would only happen if the plan is to build for now. My prediction is that nonis is not stupid and will build for future. Imo luo will not be traded to Toronto unless it's almost for free in return to van.

This to me is why they will move Luongo at all cost if only to free up the cap space. I think they will try and load up for one last run.

Kassian is a much better prospect than Kadri. Kassian is a big body and skilled, very hard to come by.

Ya I really like what we have but there is a huge hole up front. Kadri is not a true #1 and this is a time where Nonis could take advantage of some teams and get a guy like ROR or Stasny. Is it worth trading Kadri and a prospect (not Reilly or Gard) for a young kid like O'Reilly? Absolutely! The kid is excellent in both zones and would gel very quickly on the 1st line.

If Nonis truly decides on a rebuild year he should deal off some extra forwards (Mac/Connolly) and let Kadri/Frattin see some NHL ice.

The Leafs forward core as is, is good enough to make them finish in the dreaded zone of mediocrity/bubble teams.

Stastny is not a #1 centre and is overpaid.

You have to be patient. They won't get a #1 centre overnight.

And Luongo's contract is terrible. It makes no sense to get him.

Imo, it's now Tampa Bay and Florida in the running, they both have decent youngsters on goalie with a vet presence, they would progress like Schneider.

I hate that term so much. Its completely subjective and relies on failure and good luck. There really is no such thing. Burke was doing a "proprer rebuild" and he got fired. Sounds like he just wants to make owners money. Again, where is this goalie going to come from?

Stevve Yzerman already said he has no interest in Luongo.

Its a catch 22 here as no team needs Luongo as much as Leafs, but Luongo wants to go to Florida more than any other place and has a NTC.

Will GM Gillis ask more from Florida because that is Luo's choice of destination and use the Leaf offer to raise his asking price to them.

I would not mind Lou coming here but i have 2 conditions.

1) We don't ship out any blue chip prospects, quality young players or 1rst round picks for him.

2) We do the trade in the off season and we have a solid idea if we are able to nab any of the big UFAs out there, if there are any. For example IF we know we are signing a Getz or Perry or even gawd willing both, then i might even entertain moving a 1rst or a blue chips prospect for him. If we had scored Parise and Suter, i'd be all in on Lou, and to hell with the price tag and contract.

I see little point at all in getting Lou just to catch a PO berth or have just a better shot at making the POs, at this stage in the teams development. And if we lose out on Lou in the mean time, well then it was just not meant to be.

We don't even know if Florida wants Luongo that much. I think it's makes no sense for them to get him personally.

And it doesn't even sound like the Leafs are as desperate to get Luongo as most think,.

We finished 3 loses away from 2nd last, this past season, i see no reason why this could not be repeated.

Why is everyone getting pumped up for Kadri. Every analyst states that the kid is a liability defensively, and is probably gonna be a AHL player for most of his career cause of that. I think he has all the offensive talent but, its true he is lazy in his own end and floats in the defensive zone. Toronto needs to trade for a true #1 centre. Stasny is a quality centre, in response to Roeper. Stasny wins face-offs and gels very nicely with Kessel as seen in the Olympics. Is he overpaid? Ya but I would like to have a kid who will play both ways and have a rhythm with Kessel already than pray that Kadri can even crack the line-up this year, let alone play 1st line centre. Carlyle is head coach and he preaches defense and Kadri doesnt fit the bill under that scheme, Stasny or ROR definately do.
