You are predicting a 80 mil cap in 4 years? In the last 4 years the cap went up 4 million!

Probably 2.

Then retire and move to Florida and leave the team that Gillis suckered with a crippling cap hit. Actually that would look so good on Van. Except Gillis would be smart enough to amnesty him if they didn't lose him by the end of next.

well firstly, the cap went from 64 mil to 70 mil this past season. Obviously it got put back though.

4 years I'd say a 72-75 mil cap.

but he'll likely retire in 5-6. so yea it'll be around 80 mil by then.

Why are ppl so eager to throw our few assets at luongo. Just wait until he is bought out this summer or next, then get him for free or sit pat.

In fact they understood exactly what he was about to do. Bring a player in on a ruinous contract in order to save face. ie. He put himself before the team.

So what happens if they now trade for Luongo anyway after having fired Burke...?

There is NO WAY Van will buy out a player at that $$$$$price! Quit the absurd comments about buying out players like Luongo and Bryzgalov, it would be a very large amount of $$$$$$$$$$$$ an owner would have to pay and that will not happen.

They'll have no choice once they see that it is stupid to have a 5mil backup goalie taking up their capspace. They'll basically have only 59.9 mil cap space with him sitting as backup.

Please please don't trade for Lou. Gosh we don't have a #1c and MacKinnon is actually in sight. Why do people hang their heads on us getting Getzlaf? Seriously I could bet all I own that we won't get him. Lets just get our #1C the way most teams do it. Draft.

I have a question for Leafs/Marlies fans re: Frattin.

I can see that Frattin did not see any PK duty with the Leafs, however, the AHL does not track TOI stats. Has Frattin killed penalties at that (or any) level? How effective is he at it?

No matter what we do this year.

100% we will not be getting mackinnon. maybe not 100%, but 99% if you include the lottery.

Columbus is getting mackinnon, maybe NYI.

Now monahan, drouin, maybe even jones, there's a slight possibility of getting those guys if we get off to a bad start.

He's pretty solid in his defensive game, he can do so if he was given the option. I dont think we use him in the AHL, we already have scott, d'amigo, hamilton and zigo usually in that area. Kadri and Frattin tends to jump in and out thee.

Thanks! He is certainly an intriguing player.

God bless the optimistic fans here. However I remember how our small run and gun team, performed for Carlyle and his defensive 3 men infront of the puck defensive system. We're not big, it wasn't pretty. We scored very few goals. This will not be a good year. Thankfully it will be a short one.
