No one seems to know precisely when NHL-NHLPA MOU will be signed other than expectation it'll be "sometime" today.

Good and hopefully we can get some more info on this possible trade. I'm losing my mind over this, taking way too long lol

Want the truth?

The best thing this team can do is let it tank, dump at deadline and draft high, waiting for the free agent season to use the $$$ clout.Luongo is a playoff band aid.We have to ask ourselves,do we want a cup,or to just maybe make the playoffs?

The only ray of light is Gardiner and Reilly, plus Finn/Blacker etc on defense. By the time this team is ready to contend Lupul,Liles,Phaneuff,Grabovski and possibly Kessel will be gone.Burke built a frankenstein, when the only real way to build up is through the draft. This team is garbage and we need to flush, sell assets and rebuild through the draft or we will be waiting a long time.

The new rumour is Bozak,Kadri and a 2nd rounder for a franchise future crippling contract.Let the Canucks choke on it,we are weak at center already and if you trade Bozak,Kessel will walk.

Same - it'll be great to watch him ride the bench and get poisonious

Let's hope they buy him out in the summer. I don't think they want to waste their chance of not having to pay his cap hit when he retires by buying him out. If we don't show any interest for him, then I see them holding luongo until 2014 summer, where all buyouts have to be used by then. After all this, if luongo is nice, we can sign him at a 2-3 mil cap hit since he'll be making money from vancouver too.

He received another gesture of public support — whatever those are worth these days — from the board’s point man, Anselmi, Wednesday.

“Bryan and his team are also in the midst of a building process,” Anselmi told the audience at Burke’s auto da fe. “As long as we continue to see progress, that’s what we want in the process.”

Colangelo is in the last year of his three-year deal, with a team option for a further year in 2013-14. That’s still up in the air.

“I’ve never brought up my situation (to ownership). It’s never been brought up to me,” Colangelo said, shrugging.

What’s the promise going forward? Colangelo isn’t offering one.

“A successful year would be making sure we take another step forward in the process of building a basketball team.”

The opaque nature of that statement gives you some idea why Bryan Colangelo has a job, and why Brian Burke is looking for one.

They like saying sports is a results business. That’s not true. There’s no business that has a higher tolerance for failure. What it is, is a messaging business. Colangelo’s signal talent as an executive is the ability to explain what he’s doing in a way that makes sense.

Out in the real world, where results actually matter, they wait to see how something’s turned out before they decide whether it works or not.

2 reasons why Luongo may not be skating today: 1. Just wanted a day off 2. Trade's done and doesn't want to risk injury .... Let's go with 2

interesting.

Doesn't mean anything for sure. We've seen this a million times with other players. But, it's fun to speculate.

Luongo not practicing today with team...interesting. I bet a deal is done and they don't want to risk injury. Can't officially be announced until tomorrow.

I don't know if this has been posted or not. After reading it you'd better hope that you get a cup out of Bobby Lu or you are in cap hell for a long time.

" It turns out that the damage from any retirement is not all that bad for Toronto, as the pain is mostly incurred by Vancouver since they had him during his $10m-salary season." "Of note is the drastic change in penalties if the player retires with 1 year left to go: the manageable amounts for Vancouver balloon into the full $6.05m cap penalty for the '21-'22 season, while Toronto enjoys a $1.7m cap "bonus" in that same season"

the penatly isnt bad. Plus you have the option to just sit him on the bench or use LTIR which has the same old rules.

it's really not gonna affect us much, especially with an 80 million+ cap by then.

Did they sign the damn MOU yet!? I want some trades to happen.

I swear this has been a really long week.

They have to write it all up and then sign it. It takes a while. However, by tonight or early tomorrow morning, we should be good to go

Yeah so elite that the Canucks cannot wait to get rid of him. I would be more concerned about that cap hit down the road.

that's just called proper asset managment. Montreal did the same thing with Halak when they got price.

no point in having two top goalies, would you rather trade the one thats 26-27? or 33?

I'm not worried about a 5 mil cap hit for a couple years when there is an 80 million+ ceilling down the road.
