The Blackhawks looking like a dreamteam out there.

Do you believe in Santa Claus? It simply won't happen, Rangers have to improve dramatically to win the cup. Hockey is a team game, I'm sure Lundqvist will do his part, loosing when being outplayed doesn't make him a bad goalie.

Winning games while being outplayed won't happen on a regular basis, not even with Lundqvist in the net.

I fully expect the Canadians to win next game and then we have a series.

It's a good thing that the Rangers have been an elite possession team for the past two seasons then. They are 5th in 5v5 score adjusted Fenwick differential per 60 minutes 2012-14 and 2nd in the East behind Boston, miles ahead of teams like Pittsburgh and Anaheim.

1. LA (+11.32)
2. CHI (+8.39)
3. BOS (+7.09)
4. SJ (+6.75)
5. NYR (+6.33)

...

14. PIT (+0.10)

...

17. ANA (-1.06)

...

24. PHI (-2.83)

...

29. TOR (-13.22)

The King is playing great! There's no doubt about that, but even if we win the cup this year, his contract will be a huge issue for a while.

As it was said numerous times during the middle of the season, if the Rangers let Lundqvist walk, it would be a huge initial issue, but after after tanking for 5-7 years, we would be a contender!

You do realise that Hanks new contract amounts to the same cap hit his previous contract had due to the increased cap next season.

18 playoff games and hes given up more than 2 goals just 4 times, all of which were losses. Since getting pulled in game 6 against Philly he has a save percentage of .939, gaa of 1.83.

Still waiting for that first shutout. Lets hope we get one on Tuesday night.

For those who are interested in the Rangers / Henrik's performance since 06/07.

Obviously, Henrik is going on a TEAR. It looks like (I didn't realize this - Henrik actually had better stats two years ago. However, stats aren't everything...)

06 - 07: 10 GP | 92.4% | 2.07 GAA (Thrashers [4-0 W], Buffalo [2-4 L])
07 - 08: 10 GP | 90.9% | 2.57 GAA (Devs [4-1 W], Pitt [1-4 L])
08 - 09: 07 GP | 90.8% | 3.00 GAA (Wash [3-4 L])
10 - 11: 05 GP | 91.7% | 2.25 GAA (Wash [1-4 L])
11 - 12: 20 GP | 93.4% | 1.82 GAA (OTT [3-4 W], Wash [4-3 W], Dev [2-4 L])
12 - 13: 12 GP | 93.1% | 2.14 GAA (Wash [4-3 W], Bruins [1-4 L])
13 - 14: 18 GP | 91.1% | 1.98 GAA (Flyers [4-3 W], Pitt [4-3 W], MTL [3-1 TBD])

This will probably be an unpopular comment but... I thought Henrik had the best playoff performance outside of 13/14 & 11/12 in 08/09 despite putting up the worst numbers of his career. I just remember watching those games and saying "how the hell are we still in it... Oh yeah, Henrik." That caps team was an offensive explosion that season and it looked like they were playing an AHL team.

Anyways, it looks like since that series, Henrik's stats have been unbelievable, especially when you consider how talented people felt those teams were during those years (not very...) It's hard to pin the Rangers not going deep any of those years on Henrik or call him a 'choker' for that matter. Chokers don't have ~2.05 GAA over 45 games against the leagues best in the east.

I agree completely re 2009. That team was a bunch of overpaid blobs and Lundqvist. Hank was masterful in those games, but you could only be like that for so long against that Caps team.

Also, the first goal in game 7 for the Caps was disgustingly lucky. And it still bothers me to this day, damn it.

pretty fitting title on this thread for tonight's game...

I've no doubt Lundqvist will bounce back thursday.

defense in front of him and Talbot were atrocious tonight..

Still, Hank let's in 2 bad ones...

Talbot didn't look that good but again... .defense made sure he wouldn't win...

I'm not gonna be mad that Lundqvist **** the bed once out of three games in Montreal. If you told me before this series started that we'd take two out of three at the Belle Centre I would have been elated.

Win it in game 6 on home ice boys. Send em off with an ole chant. ;)

Between this and a less than admirable performance against the Devils I think round 3 has become a bit of a hurdle that Hank needs to clear. And he needs to do it in game 6.
