This is not even funny any longer, at least not from a Stanley Cup point of view, Lundqvist is great but he can't score goals. Rangers will loose this series if not improving, Canadians outplayed them most of the game, they impressed me and they should be really, really angry now.

Goalies can steal a couple of games but stealing a series or even a Stanley Cup is extremely rare and difficult. Rangers have to play better if they want to reach the finals and MUCH better if aiming for a Cup win.

If Lundqvist gets human again next game and Rangers loose I'm sure a lot of people will blame him again.

News: Hockey isn't a one person game even if Lundqvist sometimes makes it looks like it.

If I were a Canadian I would feel pretty hopeful about next game. Therrien will probably say something like "You guys played absolutely fantastic, if you play like this the rest of the series I promise you will turn this around, just keep shooting.".

Lundqvist is my current favorit hockey player in the world, of course I'm enjoying this, especially as a Swede and having New York as one of my favorit cities in the world, but we have to stay realistic.

In the NHL we only have one team that the majority of all players in the world would like to play for and that is the New York Rangers.

Speaking of Swedes, Hagelin is due for a goal soon.

Anyone want to give Rod Gilbert a vote?

He's up there. Leetch was better at his position and won a Cup/Conn Smythe. If Henrik wins a Cup with THIS team, it's pretty much because of him. Hell, it's because of him we're even in the position we are right now and, couple that with probably 90+ playoff games since 2005-6, again, mostly because of him, and I give him the nod.

What? We've scored 10 goals in 2 games, bro. In Montreal. What the hell else could Hank ask for from his team?

Frankly, while he was tremendous last night, a lot of Montreal's chances were one and done. That isn't going to work on a goalie as good as Hank at this point in the playoffs. The defense is a big part of his great play. They let him see pucks and clear rebounds.

This run has been a team effort. Lundqvist has been spectacular, but there are no passengers on this team.

Define dream team, because this team has done some crazy **** recently. Montreal threw everything they had at us, and we weathered it. Going to New York down 0-2 and without Carey Price is a tall order, they came out with a vengeance last night.

3.7 GPG and 30% on the PP since Kreider came back.

Kreider makes this team so much better because they can actually run 4 lines out there that can score.

I just didn't like what I saw in the first period, felt like Lundqvist saved the game there on his own (almost) but I have been overanalyzing/thinking this I think. ;-)

I'm extremely excited and happy for both Lundqvist and the Rangers.

Having said this, if Canadians repeat dominant effort from first period they will be extremely dangerous and probably win the game. We can't count on Lundqvist stopping all shots.

coming away with a two victories in MTL is my only takeaway from those games. One would expect the Canadiens to have the Rangers on their heels a bit in that second game. The way they look at it, the Rangers took out their goalie and they're on home ice. They better come out strong. Winning in that environment is huge for them. And right now, I don't care how they came away with the victory. Two-for-two. Hoping the focus and energy is there for game 3.

you cant tell me you didnt expect to see what we saw. it was obvious the habs were going to come out flying. its also completely unsustainable.

it happens ALL the time in the NHL. team fires its coach, comes out flying for the first period the next game.

team makes abig trade, they come out flying the first period the next game.

again, its expected. its also completely and totally unsustainable for that team. that level of skating and possession and hitting is impossible to keep up for more than 1 period...its rare you see it for even 2 periods, and i dont think ive ever seen it for a full game...not unless the other team is just a flat out no-show.

i dont think the rangers were awful in that first period, i thought the habs came out and gave the rangers everything they had. it happens. rangers weathered the storm.

"weathering the storm" is a sports phrase that is often used for a reason, because that's exactly what that was, a 1 period storm. we came, we saw, we conquered.

Absolutely right Inferno. And beyond all those circumstances you mentioned, it should be expected when you're on the road in the playoffs, particularly in the later rounds.

The Rangers essentially played a perfect road playoff game. Weather the storm in the first, even things out in the second, go into 3rd with the lead and clamp it down, potentially weathering another storm in the last 5.

Having a great goalie helps, for sure, but that's the way it goes.

Yeah, echoing other's sentiments. I completely expected the Habs to come out like that. At this point in the playoffs, there are going to swings wrt team's outplaying each other. We're not gonna dominate every game for 60 minutes.

The team handled it masterfully.

The King is playing great! There's no doubt about that, but even if we win the cup this year, his contract will be a huge issue for a while.

As it was said numerous times during the middle of the season, if the Rangers let Lundqvist walk, it would be a huge initial issue, but after after tanking for 5-7 years, we would be a contender!

Rather Hank than Tank.

Going to bed.

Agreed. In the past, we've never had everyone in sync. We'd either have Hank playing spectacularly and getting no offensive support, or some holes in the defense, or the offense giving goal support but Hank and the defense a but shakey.

We final have the entire team supporting each other. Hank playing lights out gives net support, defense clicking gives defensive support and the offense scoring enough gives goal support. It's finally a mutual relationship.

Win lose or tie, all I know is that I've got to think real hard to find an athlete in any sport as focused and dedicated to performing his best every single game/match. Jordan? Nadal? Woods before the silliness?

I think we will have a tie tonight.

This is the best team Lundqvist has had in front of him.

The difference between this year and his previous seven postseasons is that when he gets a lead, he makes sure they hold it.

Let's not rewrite history, OK. Henrik had a couple of bad series and he knows he could have played better.

I don't think anyone can complain about his play this postseason. In 16 games you can count on one hand how many goals he's given up that he normally stops.

He's the Conn Smythe winner right now.
