Imagine being a player that is getting limited playing time, but your results are better than the players getting all the opportunities. You know this doesn't go unnoticed.
Like who. Who is getting limited playing time and is remotely as good as csw.

They had 2 or 3 incidents of very long O zone time. Did a great job of keeping the puck alive. But got very few, if any shot attempts, much less quality scoring opportunities. Credit to both teams there. But no Jets goals. They really need to find a way to start scoring. A little more offense and the team D is good enough with the good goaltending we have been getting.

I think the end result was very fair. Both teams were basically identical last night.

Ehlers and Laine.

CSW is not good. CSW is losing their game. They don't make the team better, they are making it worse. If you score 5 but allow 6, it's flashy and all, but it's losing hockey.

CSW is losing now and they were losing last season. Last time CSW was something you could call remotely good was 17-18, and that's long, long ago.

As stupid as it sounds, even ELL has been better this season than CSW.

Ehlers Little Laine
Ehlers Roslovic Laine

Imagine sitting on the bench during OT when the coach runs the same two guys for almost the whole OT. He even goes so far to avoid playing you that he takes a time out so that he can rest the only two guys he wants to play.

Yup. And I think NJD are better than their slow start. Goaltending has been their problem. It wasn't last night. Not a bad team. Plenty of speed.

Didn't I acknowledge that its a negative aspect of Maurice, that he should change it up? Its not going to stop us from being young, being rookies, being new to the speed of the game, having a lack of chemistry from players learning to play with each other while battling against the best players in the world.

Nothing is fixing that other than time and experience.

I get the frustration, but the heights some try to portray this as is absurd.
The main frustration for me, and why I think it’s a bigger deal than those who downplay this as a “restructuring year” is that it’s pretty clear that Maurice is not the guy who is going to bring long term success to this group. And if the mindset for this season is that there’s nothing he could have done to make this team respectable, then he’s going to be given slack that he doesn’t deserve and we’re not going to be able to move on. Coaches with his track record don’t last six-plus seasons. Even if I agree that the roster is far from ideal.

Jets get blown out in ANA, carried by their goalie in SJ, won by a hair in Vegas and then drops a dud to a terrible NJD team.

Calling it like it is.... This is a bad team.

Bow out for Byfield!

I don't agree last night was a dud. I don't agree that NJD are a terrible team. Goaltending has let them down. Since it started coming around they are 4 -1 -2 in their last 7.

Jets are having a lot of injury issues so far - maybe including Buff. There are certainly some holes, but it would be nice to be healthy for 2-3 games to get a better picture of just how many and how bad.

We have way too many good players to aim for Byfield. It will take a very long odds lottery win to get there.

We're kinda over glorifying Niku's play a little here, guy had some good games but he also had games where he was crap in his own end and didn't exactly look totally NHL ready.

The myth of guys who have yet to play regularly and there actual ability is nuts!

He didn't look NHL ready last year. Close, but not quite. This year he has looked ready, in the play he has had. He is certainly better than at least 2 Dmen who played last night.

I see him settling into feeling like he belongs. Progression is looking very likely, if he gets more opportunity and gets into games earlier, more regularly.
Don't expect too much with our current regime running the 'pin-wheel'. Always lands on 55/26& ?
Anyways, I cheer Gus along when he does get some ice-time!

I more game and he is an NHL'er.

I think the fact Maurice has achieved a 114 point season and a conference finals tells me he is quite capable of leading this team to a cup.

Except this isn't the team he led to the WCF and he hasn't got this one or his best players playing like that one since.
The team has some challenges that Maurice can't control, but what he can control isn't inspiring a whole lot of confidence right now. I'm typically pretty neutral on Maurice but I'm unsure where he has this team headed.

Every bad player is capable of good games here and there. If Ben Chiarot is regularly on your first pair (hell, even your second pair), you’re in unbelievably massive trouble.

OK, I will certainly grant you the 1st pair. He might be a marginally serviceable 2nd pair guy if he has a good partner. That is he might be a #4, not a #3.

That was now three years ago and the team is trending downwards. Players like Scheifele who at one point was one of the rising stars in the league, are stagnating when they should be in the middle of their primes. This is the NHL, how many seasons do you think coaches should get based on the laurels of one (admittedly great) season?

I agree with you on a lot of topics but essentially every metric that exists shows that Chiarot is at BEST a bottom pair guy and likely not even good enough to be that.

To be fair, that season ended 18 months ago, that's half of three years.

But the rest of your post is agreeable.
