Lucas Raymond, 19 years old, 22 points in 24 games

He and Seider have blown expectations out of the water so far. We’re a long way from being a good team but having these two to watch nightly makes the losses much more bearable.
Just goes to show you, drafting and development is king in the nhl. The odd trade or free agent signing is nice but your team core has to be on who you draft. It’s the only way to be successful in the nhl.

He's skilled but his hard work seems more noticeable, he has a crazy motor and seems to always buzz out there, sort of like a super grinder that knows how to produce.

Nothing special in the SHL, then goes to the NHL and does this.

Crazy.
He's always been special and showed tremendous offensive potential despite the low production. His NHL success doesn't surprise me at all. His mind for the game paired with his skillset and maturity was bound to breakout at some point. The kid is so polished and complete because that's what he was learning in the SHL. Stat-watching is a terrible habit for scouting, especially at the top of the draft.

Well, it is good to say this now, when he is producing, just saying. :)

I've been saying this for a long time, feel free to check my post history

It's easy to look at his stats and think his offense is lacking but it's actually pretty clear when you know what to look for when you watch him (in the SHL).

Nothing special is a bit too harsh. He showed lots of flashes. And he was great at WJC.

But yeah he's taken a huge step in his physical development, he's actually gotten taller, improved his skating etc. and it all makes such a difference. The IQ and hockey sense was always there.

It's not like his shooting percentage (14.7) is ridiculous either. It's only 19th among rookies. Looks really promising.

Very impressed with his game and performance. As a fellow Swede, who follows Frölunda closely, my expectations for him was low since I thought his developmental curve stagnated during last season. I’m glad that he is proving me wrong.
