I voted Barkov, Rantanen and Heiskanen. Feel really good about the first 2, Heiskanen is more based on how I expect him to be the type to age really well and have a nice long career.

I don't think any of them are necessarily slam dunks for what it's worth, though I do see both Barkov and Rantanen making it without too much difficulty.

I think Barkov is a lock, Rantanen is almost a lock. Heiskanen is the next most likely.
Aho ends up like Elias, perpetually waiting for his turn that may never come. Saros would almost need a miracle to even have a hope.

I'm not sure why Aho is viewed as better than Saros.. he has one of the hardest workloads among active goalies while he hasn't been as good lately, he has a track record finishing 3rd, 4th and 5th in vezina voting.

Goalies seem to be aging pretty well lately so despite being 29 he could easily have more elite seasons ahead, especially if Nashville gets their shit together.

Whereas Aho's ceiling isn't as high in comparison.. I'm not sure a conn scythe would do it either, he's simply not prolific enough a scorer, and hasn't been good enough to finish as a Selke finalist. Hard to see that changing unless he takes his game to another level.
Nashville is a poorly constructed team right now and probably a non playoff one for several more seasons.

I agree that Soros is a great goalie but playing on a weak team doesn't help his chances even if its not fair as it applies more to goalies than position players.

Came here to say that Rants postseason is his icing on the cake, can't see him not making the HHOF.

Saros isn’t finished
He’s on a shit team with a questionable GM. Unless there are some unexpected changes I think he’s going to get shelled for a few years. That’s going to hurt his case bad even if it shouldn’t.

Damn it I just basically said the same thing, sorry.

Rantanen is the only lock there. Barkov is a maybe. If Heiskanen ages well and grabs a couple of all star selections, then him too.

RBA should 100% be in by now but it's pretty clear the HOF voters have a vendetta against him that won't affect Barkov at all. Barkov could retire after these playoffs and get in IMO.
I really like Rod but really what's his case?

The biggest problem is that other players during his time in the NHL have much better HHOF worthy resumes.

I just don't see it and he might get in as a coach (player combo type of thing) but as a player his case really isn't even that good.

Only 3 eligible players with 1100+ career points aren't in the Hall of Fame: Rod, Bernie Nicholls, Vincent Damphousse. The other 2 could absolutely have arguments too but neither has any individual hardware and Nicholls didn't win a Cup. Rod captained a team to a Cup and has 2 Selkes. His goal/points totals are great for a 2 way forward. He should be in.

This is part of the "problem" for his case though.

He is second in GP but q13th in points and when one scrolls up and down the top 25 list there are a lot of HHOFers already who had much better actual seasons.

Sure the 2 way play does help his case but he doesn't have that signature season, peak, prime to help make his case.

While scoring levels fluctuated during the time he was in the NHL his best raw stat season is tied for 121st but it also was a 84 game season.

His 93-94 season was good for 11th overall but also 24th in PPG with many stars missing many games that year.

To me he is one of those guys that if he has just a little bit better production shuffled around 4 or 5 seasons to create a definitive peak/prime, signature season then he would have a much stronger case but for reasons pointed out above I just don't see him getting in as a player.

But who knows Pierre Turgeon had a similar problem and he eventually got in but he had a defined 6 year peak and a defined 9 year prime and that might be the difference between getting in and not.

Heiskenen is really underrated by the media, imo. He’s got the talent but is a long shot to get in.

I think it’s just the first two. Aho seems like a franchise level not quite HOF guy. He needs a conn smythe to get considered.
So true. He's the most complete d man of his era and he can't even sniff the award for best overall d man. They should just change the Norris criteria to the d man with the most assists
