They've let in 3 goals in those 3 games, outshot the other team by an average of 32-26, and earned 60% of the expected goals.

Sometimes numbers don't tell the complete story, puck luck is a thing. the last 3 games, we've been lucky. Eventually it runs out. So your saying you so see it? Cool

How you take that performance last night and take that as a projection of loses to come is beyond me. That is about as clean and dominate a win as you can ask for in the NHL. The Islanders generated absolutely nothing all night long.

Against a team that lost 5 games in a row I think they said NYI were missing 5 regulars and including last night only scored 6 goals in 6 games and it was a tight game all night. A team playing that bad we should have dominated and we didn't.

...We literally did dominate them. Serious what hockey game did you watch last night?

The isles roster issues right now are somewhat overstated, like when the broadcast compared them to Ottawa just before they were shut down. This isn’t at all comparable yet and hopefully doesn’t become so

the isles D is beat up, no question, but the overwhelming majority of their forward group is in tact. The only players of note missing up front were Bailey, Lee and then Nelson for half the game after he got hurt.

They still had barzal, beauvillier, palmieri, pageau, wahlstrom and half a game of Nelson which is most of their productive guys. Also had their entire “identity” line which is monumentally stupid nickname for a line

3-0 is a solid win and the 3rd goal wasn't an empty netter, they won by 3 and dominated the whole game.

Also, isn't the whole point of the Isles' roster supposed to be their ELITE DEPTH?

We're missing basically half the team and a lot of the guys that aren't sick/hurt are acting like it's still September. I expect us to pick it up eventually but in this division it'll be a very rough road ahead. Having the majority of our remaining games at home helps at least.

Also Leddy leaving is a bigger hole than originally anticipated. So no Pelech, Pulock, Leddy. There's 3/4 of last year's top 4D. Chara's been on the top pairing, hasn't been pretty lol. At least Sorokin is emerging as a stud.

No doubt. Especially losing Pelech and Pulock hurts, as IMO they're easily your most important players.

At the same time, every team deals with injuries, including the Leafs.

Isles are the complete opposite of the Leafs.
Low skill team built for playoff hockey whereas the Leafs are a high skill team built for the regular season.

I don't think the Isles get to the playoffs this year to show their true form.

Well just in general, they're at the bottom of their division and 6 points back of 7th place in the Metro, now lost 6 in a row. Outscored 27-6 during this losing streak, that's pretty pathetic.

Yeah maybe they're fading away slightly but then again, maybe they're a bit hung over as well from the last 2 deep playoff runs. It's not unusual for a team that goes deep like that to start slowly, it wouldn't surprise me if they were a very tough opponent once again in the playoffs.

Every team does, sure. But not half the roster lol. The fact that Pittsburgh deals with this on a yearly basis.. Gotta tip my hat to that.

Really it's a combination of injuries/covid, and the healthy guys being really, really rusty (Lee, Barzal, JGP, Wahlstrom, Palmieri).

Last 2yrs:

NYI: 2.41gaa (#3), .9184sv% (#2)
TOR: 2.54gaa (#6), .9094sv% (#8)

I mean, it's more like a quarter of the roster if we're being real.

The Leafs are the only team that are lucky when they are winning but completely deserving when losing.

It's unreal what people want to see and the mental gymnastics they go through.

Haha.. this is so true!!

The Leafs did exactly what they had to do. The Isles were severely short-handed and in a slump, so the Leafs took advantage.

Considering Matthews still isn't at 100% (at least in terms of production), Tavares and Willie aren't lighting it up right now, the team has had to start a rookie goalie twice and still suffer from an, at time, shaky blueline prone to horrible giveaways, as skeptical as I still am that this team doesn't have the personnel for a deep playoff run, it's pretty impressive they are 2nd in the division and trending up.

Forgot to mention when they lose that it's ok because they won the 'expected' game.
