Pitt/Bostons third round picks are basically fourth rounders. Any pick you get from a true contender is going to be at the end of the round.

Williams may fetch a second or a low first.

Stoll and Greene are just too bad to be worth 2nds tbh. Clifford doesn't bring much except toughness. All three together of them could possibly get a 2nd and a prospect though.

There is a huge difference from a fourth round pick, and a second round pick.

you're right and all i said is for teams wanting that extra push to make the playoffs...will give us low 1st rounders and 2nd rounders which is completely reasonable to expect that veterans that won championships such as Williams, Stoll, Regehr, and Greene would get good returns


giving up a 1st rd pick in the 20th to 30th overall + prospect is really not a heavy price for a guy that will win you some OT games in the playoffs

there's a huge difference between Penner and Stoll IMO

Stoll is pure rental, with zero offensive upside. He still has decent pk skills and face-off's.

But is too slow for any East coast team, up tempo style. So you can count them out.

It would have to be a West coast team, the Hawks don't need Stoll too slow.

The Wild need a center provided they get in, but they are not going to pay a 2nd rounder for an UFA. I could see the wild offering a 3rd.

Blues, don't need a center

Calgary, would offer a third/fourth, they are not going to pony up a second when they are still considered rebuilding.

Nucks, same deal as Calgary.

The Sharks or Ducks I could see giving up a second for Stoll, those are basically third round picks.

Really would have to be the stars align.

You won't be getting 2nd rounders for guys like Stoll.

Williams is about the only guy that would fetch a second rounder, and it would be a late second from a team like Pitt.

Would be something like 2nd rounder+Robert Bortuzzo.

Williams is the one tradable asset we have that I think could pull a good return. With talk of Antoine Vermette being the hottest commodity on the trade market, I gotta think there would be sizeable interest in Williams. Infact I think the return would be better than what you have here.

I think Stoll pulls a 3rd

While I think Williams is worth a late 1st round pick, given the current makeup of the Kings, I would like to see Dean go after another team's higher end prospect that is a little older and further along in their development.

The second 2nd was conditional. Just a bad deal, Ray Shero is no longer a GM and the Pens really haven't gotten anywhere. And yes, I agree with you that the trade deadline does create some desperation. I guess we have a good GM but would still be surprised if it happened.

Stoll's problem is that the purpose of hockey is to put a puck into a net and the game is played outside of a locker room.

Actually Stoll has just a few flaws like skating, shooting, passing, vision, stick handling, scoring, and hockey sense.
But beside that he is a dang fine hockey player.

No team will offer anything for him because he is one of a little elite group of players who actually make their team mates worse.

He would be an Super Star player at Murray-Sutter hockey.
You know where they remove the goals.
A game where just the little things count. And if one team is awesome in doing the little things right it's the Kings
