GDT: Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues - December 16, 2014 - 5:00 p.m. (PST)

The Pk hasn't been good, that will get better.

It's obvious though that the PP, is not a coaching issue. It's a player issue.

Good think Calgary/Vancouver are not winning.

That's the real problem, we've had a glorious chance to take over 2nd or 3rd place with just a few wins going back to our last home game and haven't. We've gotten 3 point out of 12 in our last 6 games.

Fox said the Kings were playing their best hockey 40 minutes into this game. I disagree. It looked like they took the lead and was then just going through the motions afterwards. It was like they thought that because they are the Kings they will hold on to the lead until the end.

What's more disturbing. I believe they think because they are the Kings that they would just magically make the playoffs. Somehow.

1 shot in the 3rd, and I think it came on the opening pp. They already were boarding the plane from that point on.

Like I said, one of the worst games I have seen the Blues play all year long.

The Kings looked ok first period.

Absolutely. There is no assurance this squad makes the postseason if they keep this lackadaisical level of play going. They have one win in their previous six games and their special teams are costing them points in the standings.

This team really doesn't have a second defense pairing, which they desperately need to alleviate the ice time for Doughty and Muzzin.

They all look so indecisive with the puck as well. You just don't know exactly what type of performance you are going to get from this team every night, let alone each period.

Doughty....

He will never win a Norris until he figures out what a simple wrist shot does for his production.

Doughty will never win a Norris because he shows up for about half the regular season games.

It's the same pattern every year, Doughty half ***** it during the season, people on this board get angry when he sleep walks through a Wednesay night game vs. Dallas, in April flips the switch in the playoffs and becomes the best defenseman in the league, and then when someone like Karlsson or Subban who played well for 82 games win the Norris those same people who hated Doughty in December are complaining that DD didn't win the Norris.

As for tonight's game, I think it's time go get Carter back at C, him on the wing just changes the entire makeup of the team (and not for the better) and the Kings need to make a trade to either add a d-man and or tweak the makeup of the team. Even if the offense comes back to last years playoff level it was still going to be hard to replace Mitchell and Voynov.

Before any of that happens.

Kopitar needs to get right, the man is a minus Eight over his last Four games. Is no longer a driving force at Center ice.

That has to change.

Agreed and the last sentence is scary true

Not even worried about the defense. The Kings are a top defensive team. The offense is the problem. Couple that with seemingly invisible players and you've got problems.

Well, it was good that DL saw this game up close. He's a smart man. Knowing the utter fatigue mentally and physically this team is going through, he should be proactive now and bring up some fresh bodies. This fatigue is only going to get worse as the season grinds along. The team won't suddenly become unfatigued by grinding out another close to 50 games with the same people.

I'm not convinced. I think our problems stem from the D. Doughty playing too much, missing VV and Mitchell. Our Team D is what keeps us competitive. It just seems like a big coincidence that our offense is struggling since we lost some good D men even though we've still got the big guns up front.

I am worried about the defense, especially when (if?) the playoffs roll around. Obviously the Kings had no control over the unfortunate Voynov situation, but I think looking back at it DL would have been better off giving Mitchell the two years, $8 million. I think we can all agree Mitchell's calming influence has been greatly missed, especially against quality opponents.

Seeing Regehr get turned inside out by Tarasenko was enough for me to realize his best days are behind him. He's fine in limited minutes, but at this point in his career, he should be a third pairing dman. Unfortunately, he's being asked to play 2nd pairing minutes.

I would agree if the forwards were having to come back too deep for pucks.

But oddly enough, they are not having too. The Defense on the PK has dropped off. That's expected losing Mitchell.

One big problem is the broken record of Kopitar/Carter. We all know how important Center ice is.

Brodeur will play Thursday in LA. #stlblues

Well hopefully the kings find their collective manhoods on the flight home and ruin Marty's party.

and although I originally thought DL was shopping for a D but wouldn't actually act on that until March, I don't think he can wait that long. I think sometime post New Years he'll do that.

I am sure Lombardi would like to make a deal before it gets close to the trade dead-line.

The price for Defenders skyrockets come trade day.

Yup. And this is going to be really exposed once the playoffs roll around. The Kings defense right now is not a strength, we all know the forwards are struggling, but struggling and not living up to potential is one thing, not being good enough is another, this defense just isn't good enough to win a championship.

Isn't it amazing that we went from having the deepest center depth in the league to having no depth at all.

Well, Sutter deserves some blame for that.

The Kings center depth is good when guys play the correct roles, and unfortunately Sutter insists on having Carter on the wing with Kopitar and then one of Stoll or Richards has to move up and the problems begin.

Kopitar, Carter, Stoll and Richards should always be the centers and if DS wants to mix things up he can pull the wingers names out of a hat.

Sutter will probably wait for things to officially hit rock bottom before he does that, remember he was trying to force feed the Carter/Richards duo last year despite disastrous results.

They're already sky high, the supply and demand ratio will dictate that. The few that are top D and available will cost a lot more than most GM's will pay. He'll be busy dialing long distance calls on the Christmas break

I don't think Sutter will stick with Kopitar/Carter much longer. At some point Kopitar/Carter have to get themselves going on their own.

Should be fun to see the line blender all season long. Till those two Centers get their act together.

I think Sutter has put every single winger with Kopitar at some point this season.

When Justin Williams can't get you going....You're on your own.
