It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a Regehr to cry:

Yeah, that was bad. I said to my wife, "isn't the idea to keep them to the outside?" And she said, "go ahead, let's see you try it."

She knows I can't skate.

Forbort is starting to play really good down in Manchester. I think because he's a college guy, that people forget this guy is only 25 games into his 2nd season as a pro.

Ehroff would instantly make the PP better, guy has a very good point wrist shot that makes it on net.

I would love him, I think he could help teach Drew how to run the point on the powerplay.

I think he'll get a big deal from someone, not sure if we would be able to afford him.

The Kings are 2 points behind Vancouver and SJ for 2nd place, and barely a thing has actually gone right for the Kings this year, although they have played 2 more games than the Canucks. Hardly anyone is playing consistently well, the top guys aren't producing offensively, and Quick has a .912sv% in all the games he's played other than on that early home stand when he was at .976%. Quick was at .911% in the playoffs last year, but Gaborik was scoring at half a goal per game, and Kopitar, Carter, and Williams were at or near a point per game.

This current version of the Kings has been one hell of an interesting team to be a fan of over the last few years. When they ride high on the wave, it can be a tsunami. When they're not, they might as well be playing in a half full bathtub.

Their unemotional approach to games is what has made them so good and resilient. It's also what leads to uninspiring play. They might not even ride the waves. They're almost inside of the ebb and flow.

Dustin Brown. In the 2013 lockout year, he had 18 goals, and 29 points in 46 regular season games. That's 32 goals, and 52 points over 82 games. Since the start of the 2013 playoffs, he has 30 goals, and 55 points, in 155 combined regular season and playoff games. That's 16 goals, and 29 points over 82 games. This season, scoring at a 15 goal, 25 point clip. At the same time, other than that 6-0 stretch at home, Williams and Gaborik have 7 goals, Toffoli has 6, and then Brown and Pearson are tied with 5. Brown can't score, but he's one of the best the Kings have had for most of this season.

What combination is left to try? I figure going with this makeup may give them some semblance of balance:

Gaborik-Kopitar-Williams
King-Carter-Brown
Pearson-Richards-Toffoli
Clifford-Stoll-Lewis

Nice line-up and worth a try- problem is Sutter would only give it about 2 shifts and in a 0-0 game, we'd be back to the same old BS line juggling. The power play is what aggravates me- there's no sense of order or puck possession; other teams seem to be able to settle the puck down in the offensive zone and move it around for a good scoring chance. Not the Kings- **** all over me if you will but my number 1 power play would go like Gaborik-Kopitar-Williams with Doughty and Richards on defence; number 2 would be Toffoli-Carter-Brown with Muzzin and Martinez on defence.

Last night I posted on my phone (this website not great on my phone) thinking it was the Blues forum GDT and got booted. Sorry for what is considered trolling but it was an accident!

Thursday should be an intense game.

The PP pisses me off too, what the hell is McNabb doing out there. The kings should only be putting out 3 d on the two units (Drew, Muzzin, and A-Mart), with either ricahrds or Stoll manning the 4th defensive spot.
On paper the first units forwards of Kopitar, Gaborik and carter should be a snipe show but it hasn't happened. Put Williams in for Carter so that there is a better passer out on that unit.
2nd unit I would have Carter at centre with TT and either brown or pearson.

The PP isn't important to DS, he doesn't think PP1 or 2 should be units that have the same personnel and practice together, eachi with a QB
He uses (as he defended earlier this year) the lines that are 'going' that game. That is why for the most part there is no continuinty, no map or plan.

If you watch teams that are high % PP effective, they have 5 man units and keep them together, working, practicing, knowing where the other guys are. He doesn't do that, among other miscues.
It's frustrating because they should be better if they utlized their resources better and got stabiliity.
DD is a very talented player, but doesn't always make the right decision and Kopi doesn't either, too many times he hesitates on the half wall and passes, holds on to it long enough for the D to get in position and the lane go away. They have video, use it. Assign players a role out there.
And for having so many tall players, have somebody's job to be parked in front of that net.

I was so happy when my request for them to score first was granted.... I suppose I should have been more specific... that third period was just BRUTAL to listen to. Thankfully I was spared the ability to watch it happen.

The 12-0-3 record when scoring first was really the only positive about performance this season... and now that's gone by the wayside too. How demoralizing is that going to be in the locker room? I'm concerned. Not panic button concerned... but reframing my hopes and expectations for this spring and summer.

I doubt it. Sutter doesn't ever want them to play with emotion and so a guy like Clifford stands there with his thumb up his butt while Reaves cross checks and runs Toffoli and then runs Lewis all with the game completely wrapped up.

Obviously drew is an amazing player, but he should be the QB guy. He should be the guy by the boards waiting for the one timer. That's how team Canada used him and it was awesome.
When we had Penner I always wanted sutter to tell him to plant his ass infront of the net on the PP and let the D just hammer shots.

I wonder what Lombardi thought of Tarasenko after his recent trip in Manchester. Forbort was taken right before Tarasenko. Oof.
I don't think you can compare the two. 1 being F, and the other D. Forbert was about 195 pounds on his six-foot four frame when he was drafted. He's now about 220 and still getting stronger and bigger. Players with these kinds of builds and growth spurts still left in them aren't ready to play at 18-21 or so! Forbort has been playing very well at Manchester , and I think it would be great if he plays a few games this year! It hard to pin a wrap on him that he's like the only 2010 high first rounder yet to play, and yet he seems to have adjusted well at every level he's played at, NTDP, NCAA, and now the AHL!

I agree Richards could play D on the power play instead of McNabb. DS mixes the D pairing up as well to get McNabb out there. So, it ends up being McNabb with Martinez, and then when the pp ends, he comes out with Greene and Regher!!! If he played Richards, he could come out with Greene and McNabb after the pp, and then come back around to Martinez being back with Regher.

Should be, but you never know with the Kings. Outside of games against probably the Canucks, whether or not the Kings play with any intensity is a coin flip at best. It's the type of thing where it's their greatest strength and weakness. Stick with what you do, stick with what you do, stick with what you do. Every game is just another game, no matter where they play, and no matter who they play. Win the game, move on. Lose the game, move on.
