Very likely would have happened if Matt had have spent another year here. I am cheering for him in NHL playoffs now Knights are done. My wife is First Nations and she started cheering for Vegas because of Whitecloud when her Hawks traded away Patrick to Rangers. Be interesting around here if Vegas advances

With Brandon Montour playing for Florida, your wife may get to see 2 First Nation players getting a chance to hoist the cup. A Vegas/Florida final will set up that situation.

When watching some pre tournament press clips, I was somewhat impressed with the Petes captain giving his best effort at an interview with his jaw wired shut.

The thought occurred to me that with a bit of practice, he could become an accomplished ventriloquist. Right now, all he'd need is a small dummy of Dave Branch, and he'd be good to go.:naughty::thumbu:

Anyone know the story on Del Monte? I know he broke his leg playing for Germany but I have not even heard a whisper if he's still with the Knights. If so he's also amongst the other 2003's. I'm still hoping Seattle will want Winterton to get more games under his belt and we can have him for one more year. It's going to be sad to see any of our 2003's going to another team as they were/are heart and soul guys for the Knights. But the Knight need pucks in the back of the net so unfortunately some will be packing.

Still wonder why Hunter would waste a first round pick on a player who won’t come for 2 years

Moore probably doesn't come this year, an interesting thing will be if he commits to a college in August or not will likely dictate his intentions for the future.

Maybe the thinking is that 1-2 years of William Moore (18, 19 year old years) is more valuable than 3-4 years of the players that were available at that spot.
This, plus you don't want another team in your conference to have him for 1-2 years when you had a shot at him.

Careful. I mentioned on the Rangers board that by taking Hague they kept him out of Hunters grasp. It was labeled as loser thinking, even though it was an accurate observation.

But it WAS the Rangers board which surprised me, theres a lot of level heads over there. Apparently I came across one of the less developed. 🙄

He wasnt on the roster for playoffs. Not sure if he id still on 50 man roster. I had heard rumblings of off ice issues but nothing concrete. Just whispers in the wind. Good player wish him well.

For the rumblings I heard he had trouble listening to the rules and constantly broke curfew. He hasn't been with the team since he went to WJC but who knows

Suposed Moore does not show, the Knights will have two first rounders, and they can still go for the long run without him, trade 2sd 3th and 4th to get player(s) they'll still have 2 first picks next draft. Or they can keep Moore and not waving his right for that extra first round and keep him in their system. Once Moore is drafted he can still be sent down for more seasoning at the OHL level. The Knights have all kind of options, either way they will be compitive for the next two or three years however they go about it. Moore is in the Knights' assess bonus account that will bring future dividend(s) for the Knights, the option is unlimited for them at this point since they are already having a strong young nucleus coming back next 2or3 seasons. Moore this season wouldn't have help the Knights all that much as rookie since he not be getting top six minutes, but in a year or two he will be. Cheers !!

I could be wrong, but London would not receive an additional first rounder unless they declared Moore defected before the next draft.

Someone with more knowledge could confirm this.
Has to be declared at training camp if he is a no show in order to get the compensation. Now knowing the Hunters they never would have selected him if they did not think there was high percentage on him reporting at some point. You will likely see him in Green at some point but maybe not this year. If he is not declared as a a no show in August then you are pretty much guaranteed he will show at some point. I'm just looking for a way to say "some point " one more time.

Not sure if he'll return to the O next season or turn pro, but one player that I think would look good in a Knights uniform is Avon. He's a Peterborough kid who might be content to remain with his hometown team to finish off his career, but with his speed, skill, and PK prowess, he'd fit in nicely. May be worth a phone call if he plays an OA season. It can't hurt.

Premature post here

If the Hunters drafted Moore, I’m fairly confident he will be wearing a knights jersey

Not a wasted pick

These types of picks take time and patience . At worst, you wait one year for a top 5 level pick. I have a feeling you won’t have to wait though so let’s be patient and see. ,

After how good Winterton looked in the playoffs, I would be shocked to see him back. The best spot for his career development, is probably with Coachella.

I do fully agree though, it is going to be sad to see any of our 03s moved. All great team guys, who have spent their OHL careers with the Knights thus far.

It is not that I don’t have all the faith in the Hunter boys ! I was just curious why Mark would invest in a future instead of a player who will be here now. More of a musing than anything else.
