What if we got Beck (OA) from Ottawa and then in a separate trade move out Mackinnon and get a goalie (Gaudreau or Simpson) I think HB has proven he can hang in the top 6 D
HB looked very capable on the weekend but looked a lot more 16 then Dickinson did same time last year... If you want a championship you can't deplete all your depth...

Martin or Sop may be a target? I know Lon and Kit don’t traded a lot but those 2 will be very good OAs imo this year.

Keep Willmore move Bowen
I haven't given up on Bowen. Solid BUG. And next year compete with Medvedev for the starting crease.

I would prefer Owen Beck from PBO He's a 2004 so not an OA. Then we could land an OA goalie.

I'd say the Knights "juan" that trade. Only Saginaw/Barrie collude more frequently but then again those trades seem mutually beneficial.
Go get a seasoned tender Mark. Gaudreau over Simpson but that's just my preference.
Yup - Gaudreau will cost less, should be solid behind a elite defense, and there is something about never being to the top of the mountain that pushes some players.

Trade Proposal:
To Peterborugh: Owen Willmore, Kaeden Johnston, SAR 3 2025 & OS 5 2025 (both from Ferderkow trade), NB 2 2026 & FLNT 3 2026 (both from Humphrey trade)
To London: Michael Simpson, Owen Beck and 2 late round picks
I doubt the Petes would make a trade like that for both Michael Simpson and Owen Beck. They will not accept a 18 year old forward with almost no OHL experience. They may take the goaltender. There is no way they will ever agree to only one, 2nd and two, 3rd and a 5th round draft picks for both. In my opinion they would want one of London’s good young forwards and either a either a goaltender or a defenceman plus at least two or three 2nd round and two or three 3rd round draft picks for both players (five picks in total).

Entirely doable.

Said it in my post days ago, we need an OA goalie. Look what’s happening, making moves to clear players out and get picks. Lol I must be on everyone’s ignore list. That’s ok. I know what I’m talking about folks. Maybe I know people. I like what I’m seeing. Should be a fun season!
Not on my ignore list I enjoy your takes!!!!!

If they are not going after a goalie, Sop would look great in town. Elite PKer and defensive forward. Would allow the young guns to do their thing.
Sop would be a good add to any contender. As you said, big time PKer. Could hit a point a game as well. He’d be a very good third on a first or second line.

And I doubt he’d be expensive. He isn’t an elite OA, but he’d be in that group a tier below elite. So 2x3rds (‘24,’25 drafts) might get it done. I won’t say he isn’t worth a 2nd, but because there are a few OA’s at his level, waiting for or demanding a 2nd might have prospective trade partners looking elsewhere.

They would have just kept Humphrey if they wanted an OA forward of a similar profile and similar price--plus they have McCue as well. Humphrey went to back-to-back OHL finals, so trading him away doesn't really send the strongest signal that the Hunters want to load up for this season.

I prefer Martin, power forward who can put the puck in the net. Nothing wrong with Sop either but we have PK specialists, e.g. McCue.

LOL you’re not getting Owen Beck for that.

Simpson for some combination of Willmore, Johnston and a pick would be alright

I doubt your trade proposal is doable. The Petes are not going to accept a 18 year old forward with only 8 OHL games played and 1 point in those games and a 19 year old goaltender with only 6 regular season and 3 playoff games played and only one, 2nd, two, 3rd and a 5th round draft picks for Owen Beck and Michael Simpson. The Petes could get a 16 or 17 year old player drafted in the 1st round plus two, 2nd and one or two, 3rd round draft picks for Owen Beck and at minimum a 2nd and 3rd round draft pick for Michael Simpson. London does not have a player who was drafted in the 1st round available so it would likely take two players to make the trade work.

You are right the Petes would never make this trade for Owen Beck. I do see the Petes having much interest in Kaden Johnston in a deal for Michael Simpson. I could see them taking Willmore in the deal but I think they would rather have a 2nd a 3rd round draft picks for him than receive a 18 year old player that has hardly played in the league.

Fair point on McCue/Sop.

Martin will be a high-end playoff performer. I see the Rangers trading him but not until the deadline. I would figure that MacKenzie has a price he wants for Martin. I believe he will wait until the deadline in order to A) show that he can stay healthy, and B) allow him to achieve the 35 to 40 goal pace that was expected of him last year.

If both of those things happen, I would expect him to be a significantly more expensive than Sop at the deadline. He’ll be in demand.
