Side bitching note: London will soon have half a million in the city with no expressway or decent way to commute around the city. Brilliant town.
That dream is dead. The time for a ring road was 25 years ago. The city has been built up too much in the north and west now for it to happen.

That said, people like to complain about the driving in London, it's nothing compared to Toronto. Take it in stride and relax, you'll get there eventually.

Not to sure why there is so much love for Michael Simpson, he was a good but not great 19 year old goalie. I think the Hunters would be doing themselves a disservice by not letting the goalie situation play out in camp and the early season. There really is no "great" OHL goalie that comes to mind that is really worth while or a giant upgrade IMO anyways.

Michael Simpson was one of the top three goalies last season in addition to being the playoff MVP. He was actually ahead of Brett Brochu in both goals against 2.73 to 2.82 and save percentage 0.914 to 0.902.

Wow, thats great. Still cant justify sending assets that we need for replacing Winterton and "go for a skate George".

He was not deserving of the Playoff MVP in my eyes, the team was just so well balanced no one really stood out hands and feet above the rest.

In the playoffs Simpson had the 7th best GAA, and 3rd best Sv%. Brochu is ahead of him in both and was headed for one of the greatest statiscal playoffs ever, but I digress. Simpson played Above Average and that was all they needed. Although to be fair he DID have a solid few games in the finals, but he was most certainly NOT the reason the Petes made it there.

In the conference final he had a 3.14 GAA and a SV% 0.900

Round 2 he had a 2.66 GAA and a SV% 0.911

Michael Simpson outperformed both Dom DiVincentiis and Max Donoso in the playoffs series he played against them. They were the top two goaltenders during the regular season. I think he would have continued that trend even if Brent Brochu was playing in the London series so I would pick Simpson in a seven game series. In a one game situation anything could happen particularly in a 7th game.

You would pick Simpson over Brochu in a JrA series to backstop a squad. Gotcha. I'd pick Brochu. All good.

Congrats to Isaiah!

Hockey Canada May have missed the boat on Dickinson, Bonk, Cowan and Barkey? No invites for them? Why?

Easton Cowan's leap from family barn to Toronto Maple Leafs spotlight

The Hunters told the Cowans about playing hockey in London, their development system and how they produce NHL players
Author of the article:
Ryan Pyette
Published Jul 30, 2023

Cowan, in particular, heard the backlash. He had been hearing in the weeks leading up to the draft that if the Leafs had not taken him, there were several teams right behind ready for the chance.
“People want to call it a reach, they can call it a reach,” he said. “It’s their opinion and it is what it is. They don’t think I’m that good, so be it. It’s not my problem. I’m just going to focus on myself and try to stay positive. You’re in those lights now, so people will hate on whatever you do in life. That’s what it comes down to now, so I use it as fuel. I kind of laugh it off.
“I’m going to do what I love to do and that’s compete, have fun and try to win.”
Cowan has humble goals for the fall. He will play in the NHL rookie tournament with the Leafs and is hoping to earn an invite to main camp.

Lots of players from London and Middlesex County these days. Really has little or no bearing on where they play.

Side bitching note: London will soon have half a million in the city with no expressway or decent way to commute around the city. Brilliant town.

As far as goaltending, the only time I can think of an off-season or early season trade being made to shore up goaltending was acquiring Michael Hutchinson in 2009. I wouldn’t expect a goaltending move unless things go off the rails with no substantial improvement. Anything’s possible, I suppose. I have faith that the NHL caliber executive/coach will make the proper evaluations and make the required move/non-move as necessary.

Michael Giugovaz Joseph Raaymakers and Dylan Myskiw all were acquired in the off season or early season by the Knights

Is there any news on Formenton? I know he signed in Swiss league last year. Is he now an NHL free agent. Is he one of the 2018 Gold Medal winners that embarrassed the CHL with the gang rape? Is that why he has vanished?

It’s not hard to figure out who the guys were. Anyone who wasn’t involved publicly said so. Others only said they’d cooperate with the investigation but didn’t deny.

Read between the lines.
