Both Hultanen and Ustinkov are under contract to their European pro teams. It would take those teams to loan out a player and a not inconsequential settlement. Anyone consider that before posting?

So we shit the bed?
they drafted both knowing it would be a long shot. since they banned russian players, how many import picks has london done well with? they had a very good relationship with goldstar but that is now over due to the russian ban. all of a sudden they are on the same footing as every other ohl team lol

Joulevi and Bernhardt were last Euros of note and they weren't Russian. Joulevi was a very good defenseman but Bernhardt didnt exactly tear up the league.

Although I like Gazizov. He had too much hype to live up to. The play does die on his stick a bit more often than I would like.

He had some timely goals and helpers in last years playoffs.

Not about to throw him under the bus like too many armchair GMs who only look at stats out there.

Goals For are going to be a bit of a challenge for the Knights this year. Personally I'm of the opinion that the patience shown to him by Dale and the coaching staff is about to payoff. 30 goals and 75 points would be a nice set of targets imo? Assumes of course he gets the right linemates and some meaningful time on the top or second PP unit.

well, theres way more baisovs now due to the ban, see the spits latest pick.

had the bad not happened, im sure london would have found a way to add levshunov or chernyshov based on past relationships and drafts, but either way

I do not think you are far off based on his skill level. He sees the ice better than anyone on the team, and picks the passing seems better than anyone as well not to mention that he thinks the game quite well also. With all of that being said his issue and what is holding him back is that he is tentative to get hit, and id very weak on the puck which is not good when you are just a mediocre skater.

He should and I think will shine on the PP half wall this year allowing Barks and Cowan to kind of roam free and find lanes for Gaz to get them the puck.

Ruslan Gazizov has some of the best vision and patience on the team. It’s a matter or consistency and he could easily hit 80pts. If he gets top 6 minutes I expect at least 80 plus points for the year from him.

Said it day of the trade.........well worth the picks given up for SD. Kid is a rare breed.
When ya never pick high ya gotta find a way to bring in A list talent.
One thing LK has always done is pivot when a door closes.
Draft early grab the Nash/Perry types.....take that away n they recruit Kanes, McC, Jones, Tkachuk types.....take that way they'll trade up in Euro draft....take that away they will stockpile O talent n flip the over abundance for futures......need an Alist player as a rookie, grab a player who won't report (Mete, SD, Domi....)
It's all about asset management n they do it well and have done so on many levels.
There is no 1 way to build a team and they have done a great job in 20 plus years always finding a way to stay in the top half and often be revelant players come POs.

SD will go down as one of the top all time D in London.....JMO. yrs it's a long list.
