In answer to what no-one has ever said?
Il est probablement trop fort pour la OHL. Il va certainement brûler la ligue cette année. 7 buts déjà pour Logan Mailloux en 14 matchs. Il a aussi 7 passes jusqu’à présent pour une moyenne d’un point par match

"He is probably too good for the OHL. He is certainly going to torch the league this year.Already 7 goals for Logan in 14 games. He also has 7 assists for a ppg average."

It makes sense that as the year progresses he will become even more dominant.

Reading a lot of positives about him, that's encouraging.Hope he continues to improve all aspects of the game but would like to see a recent interview with him to see how he handles the press, I'm assuming he's not camera shy,too soon?lol.

Agreed.

Pretty much every day on Twitter the same lame talking points are trotted out by woke middle-aged sportswriters still mad about the pick:

I think best of all with all this, because Mailloux is now "woke", i.e. educated about his past actions, he'll have no problem passing Betman's (virtue signaling propaganda) interview tests to get into the NHL. There may be some small or bigger than needed sanction. But he won't be blocked. No way.

It isn't permanent for both legal and business reasons.

Though the right to resort to judicial review in Canada with respect to decisions made by private organizations has been restricted by recent cases like R v Jockey Club ex parte Aga Khan and Highwood Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses ( Judicial Committee) v. Wall its the fear of litigation that would trouble the NHL if it made the draconian decision of a permanent ban for an offence that was committed by a minor. During the discovery process that forms an essential part of any litigation, the plaintiff (Mailloux) would have access to any internal non-privileged communications (hard copy and electronic) that was not privileged and the right to cross examine a representative of the NHL and, if Bettman is a named party, he could be subject to cross-examination. This discovery process could reveal matters that may be very embarrassing to the NHL particularly if it comes out that one of the motivating factors is a fear of the loss of sponsorships and not the concern over a violation of some standard of decency that the NHL is supposedly operating under. The discovery process will force the NHL to explain the double standard it has and continues to operate under where it has allowed convicted felons to continue their lucrative careers in the NHL unencumbered. It's the fear of litigation and the almost certain embarrassing exposure of the league's hypocrisy that will result in Mailloux's re-instatement. The league will, at some suitable time in the near future, solemnly announce that Mailloux's post incident behaviour has been exemplary and warrant's the redemptive step of regained eligibility. It will be the right decision legally and morally. More importantly, from the NHL's perspective, it will be the smart business decision.
That's just your opinion, smart guy, lol. Wow. Seriously, I would just like the NHL to clarify their statement.

Anyone else concerned in this woke era that the NHL will make it difficult for Logan Mailloux to get cleared? Amazing that the current thugs in the league are grandfathered in despite of their past behavior.
Bettman who seems to really enjoys to be on every pictures with the draftees, each year at the draft day, will certainly ask for the infamous picture of the "member" of the NHLPA concerned . Then he will decide if he needs to meet this young horse, and offers him his pardon if Mailloux accepts Bettman conditions

:naughty:

Love all these sportswriters, who have been around hockey for 30 years, signaling their virtue. These same guys have know all about hockey culture and everything that goes on in the locker room, and around young players. For them to be shocked at what Mailloux did is pretty rich. Why didn't they break any of these stories? Older players have been sexually assaulting younger players forever in junior leagues. I can't be the only one that grew up playing the game, around junior rinks, that have heard things that make Mailloux's incident look like nothing. That doesn't make what he did ok, for obvious reasons, but jeeze fella's how about some perspective?

These reporters have tons of dirt on players but would never give up access to break a story. The fact that this stuff is just coming out tells you all you need to know about sports media and how much virtue they have to give.

His offensive output isn't really that impressive (not factoring in missed time) but his shot is NHL level.. but as has always been the case, his defensive ability is a mess and it isn't really OHL level good right now.

So take the extreme positive side (Renaud Lavoie saying he should be in the NHL which is nonsense) and the extreme negative side and find the truth in the middle, as always.
Terrible take, he has been overall pretty solid defensively in his past 5-7 games and heavily relied on in every situations. He is not perfect and gets beat at times, but he plays alot of minutes and is largely better defensively than the average OHLer.

If Mailloux plays this kind of O-game in the NHL, his defensive flaws won't make him worse than what Souray was.

Sometimes I wonder if these pundits ever watched Mailloux play or are they basing their opinions on the consensus of the extremes they choose to adopt. In the case of Mailloux both extremes are erroneous. Let us wait and see how this player develops. But as I previously posted, his development to date, when one considers the time he has missed due to COVID, suspension and injury, has been impressive. Some elements of his game are already NHL level ready. Some elements are not. Mailloux will play in the the NHL, for Montreal or some other team. That is indisputable. His ultimate impact in the NHL however, will depend on how well he develops those elements of his game that are currently not NHL ready.

I would be willing to bet money that none of the local hockey media guys have seen Mailloux play a full period of hockey. They've MAYBE seen a few highlight videos on youtube, if that. Add giant handfuls of salt to any take you might hear from them.

These tweets are so embarrassing. I'm coming around to the view that flamboyant wokesters are often just people who are overcompensating for their own failings, rather than people who genuinely care, or even more harmless losers simply seeking validation in the form of more likes and retweets.
