Will Mailloux be back in London next year? If so is that as an overager? Will the Habs be inviting him to their rookie camp this summer - believe they didn't want the distraction last summer.

I recall him asking teams to pass on him this year over the things he did and Montreal took him in the 1st. was extremely dumb because I think most teams would have passed on him chances are he would have been there in the 3rd or 4th.
All teams make mistakes, weather he does good or bad moving forward just look to the future dont let the past get to you too much
If u want to feel better you can check out my Leafs trading up for Tyler Biggs and then also selecting Stuart Percy in the 1st round too I believe one of the picks they traded for Biggs ended up being John Gibson lol

There were reports that said that some teams were planning to pick him in the 2nd round. So there is a chance he would not be available in the 3rd or 4th round.

We still have next season to better evaluate the player. If he doesn't prove worthy of a contract, I'd have no problem letting him go and taking the compensatory 2nd round pick. Depending on his season, the 2nd might even be the more valuable asset. Time will tell.
I believe this is only true if the prospect refused a contract offer at any point. That's what happened with Fischer.

I forget who but a couple gms called bergevin and said they were going to take logan with their pick in the 2nd so if he wasnt taken 31st mtl wouldnt have got him at all

I think one of the teams who were considering taking him in the 2nd round was Carolina.

Of course these are rumors and reports that came out after Habs took Mailloux. But the poster I initially responded to said that he'd be available in the 3rd or 4th round, which if you see the reports that came after the draft, if he didn't get pick by Habs in the 1st round, he'd most likely be gone in the 2nd round.

As per NHL Draft Rules | Lines.com:

Compensatory Picks: If a team does not sign their first-round pick within two years, they will be awarded a compensatory pick in the Draft immediately following. The pick will be in the 2nd round, equal to the selection number of the unsigned player. All other teams' selections move back one spot.

Did Bergevin had a side job at the NHL Central Registry? Why other gms would call him to tell him who they are going to pick next?

I'm sure (some) GMs share more information than we think, especially if they are close. It's a way to get information yourself, so it may not be as suboptimal as it looks. It's a little bit like avoiding fleecing someone in a trade, for fear of other GMs not dealing with you anymore. If the conversation is open, it's two-way, so you get a better pulse on things too. In the end, while they obviously want to win, they are colleagues and all part of the same cast. A bit like coaches supporting each others except when the game is on.

On Day 2 of the draft on Sportsnet, I noticed Mailloux shake hands in the Bell Centre stands with an OHL player who got drafted in the mid-to-late rounds from another OHL team (not London). I can't remember who it was. It wasn't a Hab draft pick.

Soccer is speedy and physical too. At practice you develop your individual skills. At the gym you develop your strenght. In college and in Europe they don't play nearly as much. The Canadian model is a good one but not the only one. I'm not worried about Mailloux's lack of games and its impact on the rest of his career. I'll eat crow but I think he'll end up as good as prime Subban!
I believe he’s going to be a good one too. All the talent is there for sure. Needs to work on some things, positioning, gap control, defensive awareness, but kid has mad skills imo

I think so too. I read negative comments about how big a deal the habs are making this but Mailloux has everything to gain from it. Drive the message publicly he and the team have left nothing unresolved (because it‘s true and not just pr) until he’s on the club, and everyone can move on.

He surely needs plenty of icetime in jr anyway with how little he’s played and his time will come, we have so few rd’s. With what‘s hapenning with hockey canada it would be a mistake for the habs to act as though they are brushing the issue under the rug.
Dangerous to mix together the Hockey Canada story and the Mailloux story. Huge differences.
