If he's eligible for the AHL, he'll likely be eligible for the NHL. The two leagues have always honoured each other's suspensions given their relationship.it could be though, as at least for now it means they can't rush him to the NHL. Not that I expected that to happen but they did rush Slaf imo so at this point with the PTSD I still have from MB rushing so many prospects to the NHL, I'd rather the Habs be forced not to be able to rush a player.
A year in Laval would be good for him.

If I understood your previous post correctly, I believe you were suggesting that not being permitted to play in the NHL would force the Habs to keep him in Laval. An NHL suspension would likely have to be honoured by the AHL.Who says he's not eligible for the AHL? He's not suspended by the NHL.
He can not be permitted to play in the NHL without being suspended, or so I assume since he's not been suspended by the NHL or anyone for that matter. I haven't heard anything that says he can't play in the AHL, just that the NHL has not cleared him to play in the NHL.If I understood your previous post correctly, I believe you were suggesting that not being permitted to play in the NHL would force the Habs to keep him in Laval. I don't like to worry either but one has to wonder how short of a leash Mailloux will have if/when he is cleared to play. Especially with his rough style.You should have no worries in this regard. The proverbial green light is only a formality now.
Though some people think/ assume because of his size, Mailloux plays a rough game, that is not an accurate depiction of what Mailloux’s game is all about. As I have previously posted, Mailloux’s game is far more about finesse than brawn. He still loses his composure at times but as the last season progressed Mailloux became a far more disciplined player. Those who are expecting Mailloux to be a dominating physical presence in our defensive zone will be disappointed.I don't like to worry either but one has to wonder how short of a leash Mailloux will have if/when he is cleared to play. that'll be very annoying to deal with if Bettman holds a grudge
This is kind of getting ridiculous he did something bad but paid for it to the full extent of the law than still got suspended in the OHL (still don’t know how they came up with that) and NHL trying to make a exemple out of him meanwhile you have a bunch of guys that are currently playing because hockey Canada or jr team covered up much worse crime…
@montreal @WeThreeKings
The opinions of Mailloux seem to be quite polarized. Do you think he's an nhl player? Does he end up with a Beaulieu type of career or is there a very good chance he ends up an offensive top 4 dman?
I'm finding it hard to parse through all the opinions about him.
Thanks so much for this. I'm guessing is nhl level offensive tools will be enough to have hang around on a club in a significant role, or will it be an Erik Gustafsson situation where despite being very good offensively, he can't stick with a club?He's not for me until he shows he can defend adequately at the pro level. His offensive game and tools are obviously going to play in the NHL but the rest of it still is a massive work in progress.
If only there was a way to send him back to the OHL to play defense and play in the AHL to continue to develop his offense because that's the level both are at right now.
At the time, it was mentioned that Mailloux is also ineligible for the NHL at the time.Mailloux caught some Mitchell Miller shrapnel because this so called required meeting never came up until the Bruins signed the other problematic guy.
Is it possible that he has already been cleared and they have decided to keep it on the downlow?At the time, it was mentioned that Mailloux is also ineligible for the NHL at the time.
There was a meeting that was supposed to take place shortly after the cup was awarded.
I looked it up and the wording was Miller wasn't allowed to join the team, seemingly in any capacity while Mailloux has been at the camps.
I think the NHL approves it, they're just the worst at getting anything done in a timely manner.
The 2018 team canada sexual assault case was finished about a month ago and still nothing from anyone.
If you were smart you'd release the findings in the summer and give it time to die down before training camp starts, but the NHL is run by a bunch of hurr durr people.
That would be smart. Instead of having a press conference, or something just have him there and at training camp just have Hughes say he was cleared to play and go on.Is it possible that he has already been cleared and they have decided to keep it on the downlow?
