I'm gonna be the odd one out here, but it blows my mind how many people want to blow this team up after it's so close to being well rounded.

Theoretically this was one of the best leafs teams ever assembled, and the vast majority loved this team. 2 weeks later, "blow up the core, fire everyone!"

Thank goodness Dubas and Shanny have more common sense than some of the bipolar baboons on here.
10.93 million for 0 goals in 18 playoff games is why.

Da last 10 or so games of regular season guys ramp up for playoff hockey so it starts to look better before playoffs as making it matters .. da issue is Matty and Mitch are going all out every game .. vet guys like Bergeron are not going flat out until playoffs start .. these 2 have no other top gear to turn to especially Mitch because of his stride
The thing is, they can’t even sustain their regular season level.
We call players like them chokers. That’s the same thing we said about DD. If you can sustain your regular season level and just couldn’t reach that extra gear, that’s one thing but to go 0 goals in 18 games, that’s a whole new level crap.

Or seven.

but thank for your valid opinion. The player being severely hit in the second gif, never actually moves after this vicious hit. Meanwhile Nylander falls.

When on receiving end of hit, he put the puck out of play instead.. do you need a gif for that? Maybe watch a game first buddy.
Uh he did hit. Maybe get a better pair of glasses cus you have zero clue about what you're talking about.

What are these numbers ? Mac's AVs have won 5 this year alone and counting. Leafs are 14-19 in the last 5 years. Should we be celebrating ??

So he wants Spezza back...sure no problem.

He would like to bring back Hyman...

He also wants to Matthews/Marner to return...

I get that you don't wanna commit to moving a core 4 guy but the obsession with keeping the band together...I don't understand it. No success has been had.

The Toronto Raptors have a better chance of winning a serires next year then the Leafs

Dubas/Shanahan are either going to be here until their contracts expire with this team having 3 more 1st round exists with this core or MLSE wakes up and fires them next year and we retool perhaps even rebuild.

Leafs have no chance of beating Boston and Tampa next year our 2 most probable match ups if we make the playoffs.

I have no confidence in us beating the Habs or Sens seeing this absolute disgraceful performance

The only team which might make the playoffs and if we end up playing them that I feel we have a fighting chance with is the Panthers. Outside of them every other team beats us.

I'll say it again but STOP comparing us to the San Jose Sharks. Look at the Sharks playoff history fro. 2006 to 2019. In the 14 year competitive window since they got Joe Thornton they had all of 5 1st round exits/miss playoffs.

They had 3 Conference finals runs and a cup final appearance

Leafs in 5 years have had 5 1st round exits/missed playoffs.

We are in a class of incompetence all by ourselves when it comes to the playoffs.

The caps, Sharks, blues were all much better than us even before two of them won a cup.

Regular season point totals don't win Stanley Cups.
lol yes.... One player also doesn't win a Stanley Cup. Putting so much blame on one player in hockey is a joke....

Also, you mentioned playoff points... We can all agree Marner has had a tough time scoring goals, he still has 25 in 32 which isn't terrible. My guess is he has a bounce-back playoffs next year.

Its simple. The band gets them to the post season while allowing them to keep their jobs (for now).

It's 1 year.

Worried he signs Hyman for 5 years and then he's fired next off-season.

Short of a ECF appearance, Shanahan, Dubas and Keefe are all gone.

Thank goodness Dubas and Shanny have more common sense than some of the bipolar baboons on here. It sucks, I get it but this is a work in progress.

We aren't the first developing team to be eliminated in short order a couple times. (Tampa, Colorado, Washington) and non of the others made wholesale changes.

First of all - bipolar disorder is a horrible thing, and tossing it out like "Bipolar baboon" is really disrespectful for those who seriously struggle with bipolar disorder. I get your point but yeah. can you please try a different vernacular?

most people don't want it to be "blown up." people want accountability, and some ownership. Some anger. something. Like. Auston is cracking off wisecracks and shows no disappointment. Shanahan is spouting cliches and fluffs (He looked more pissed off and angry about a team that had no future (his first year), than he did about a team that was expected to contend for a cup. Like let that sit for a moment.) Keefe came close and basically insinuated that they were cocky and maybe this will humble them (and maybe work harder, i don't know).

they can hockey cliche and say the right things, but at least be like, you know, i get why the fans are pissed - we're pissed too. you shouldn't be disappointed. I'm disappointed that i don't have ice cream in my freezer. I'm disappointed i can't get some pizza. I am pissed that this team can't take ownership on how they play like crap. I'm pissed that they look happier about winning a rocket, and being 5th in NHL scoring than looking upset about blowing a glowing opportunity. I'm pissed that five years later we're still hearing "Well we didn't start on time. I don't know why."

I'm tired of people naming these teams, without mentioning when they had serious disappointments. they didn't sit there smirk, and go "Well we love everyone, y'all have fun with the noise!" they said they were pissed, going to work damned hard, to be better in the playoffs.

if people can't see that then...

I don't want to blow it up. I don't want to fire everyone. I just want to trade Marner and possibly the coaching staff. Does that make me a bipolar baboon? Should I believe that this core can win the cup despite spectacular failures for four years running? Is that common sense, or is blind faith a more apt description of staying the course?

I can’t believe I actually despise Shanahan even more after that presser, I only hope he was so obtuse because he knows he’s gonna be fired, one can hope.........

He basically wants to bring everyone back minus Andersen.

Easy for me to disconnect this season.

Shanahan, Keefe and Dubas fired after this year.
Feels like a total spinning the wheels year without a 1st rd pick in the draft even. Where the hell will they get killed instinct from with no cap space.

Well, it seems pretty clear that the core will stay intact for better or for worse.

I guess we better hope Dubas can find a few more Jason Spezzas at the league minimum this off season.
