Locker Clean-out Day

  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
It's important to note he only talked about the top 4 guys. Nothing about Rielly or anyone else being safe.
Yeah, awesome. Because Rielly and Hyman were really the problem. And I'm sure replacing Spezza's league minimum contract with somebody off the street is gonna be greeeaaaat.

The half the cap on 4 forwards experiment should be over, and that's what they should be talking about right now. They could even use the covid flat-cap as their excuse.
Did you hear the part where he noted the flat cap is an unexpected concern and they'll need to consider all options to get around it?

It's all non commital language to leave doors open and basically them saying they'll review.

Even if they wanted to trade each of the big 4, what would announcing it do?

LOL, come on. They made big changes and the team looked completely different.

If you don't believe in the core, that's fine. I guess you'll just have to tune out for a some time. Maybe root against the team.

It's the exact same core. How hard is that to understand?

It's the same core that has existed for some time, the same core that is 0-7 in games they can eliminate the other team. They've changed around the edges but the core is the constant in this.

Matthews, Marner, 88, Hyman, Rielly, Andersen around for all of it.

Although Andersen wasn't the starter this year.

This won't suddenly be a team that figures it out. This is San Jose where they kept rolling out the same core that couldn't win.

why are Seth Jones or Dougie Hamilton severely needed?
do they score lots of goals since Matthews and Marner do not?

They are both 23-26 minute a night defensemen who can successfully run a powerplay. They are both also perfects fits with the club due to their excellent skating and transition game. Both right hand shots. Yes, one of them is severely needed.

So depth isn't an issue, we're keeping our highest salary cap hits because they're not the problem, Keefe is coming back, and everything is awesome. Except the two words "killer instinct", which I'm sure is something physical they can send an intern down to Giant Tiger to buy.

Well, I'm sold. I feel so much better riding the zero accountability train with these guys.

i have to say. this is why i couldn't work in professional sports in any aspect.
i would literally get myself fired today. lol

They changed their play style completely.

Anyway, they're not changing their core. These are the cards the fanbase has been dealt. My suggestion is you get over it or move on.

Pretty much the same. Switched some league minimum players with some other league minimum players.

Preyed on a weak Canadian division.

Team looked precisely the same in the postseason.

Dubas has already said it before...it's up to him to fill around the edges...lol, giving bread crumbs to league minimum wage players hoping that they will push the Leafs over-the-top...sounds like a great plan! :sarcasm:

Please tell me with a straight face that the 19-20 and the 20-21 leafs are the same.

Even with Tavares being injured, that game 7 was almost identical to the game 5 when the jackets beat us. No urgency and playing a winner take all game like its a regular season game.

If they were committed to dropping the half the cap on 4 forwards experiment, we'd hear very very different language right now. They're maintaining the status quo, and it couldn't be any clearer.

Some stars fold in high stakes situations, but great in the 82 game schedule; some don't perform in regular season so well but know how to rev up their game in post season, like Claude Lemieux, like Price, like Hedman, like Foppa like MacK. That's the next step, swap part of the core with more guys like that, Dubas invested in the wrong guys, he's smart, figure out a way to change the chemistry at the foundation.

If your core guys, the ones that get paid all the money, don't have the killer instinct...isn't that the EXACT problem? Why go looking for something you're already paying for?
They're trying to find some 700k players with killer instinct to take over in the playoffs. Our entitled core will stack up points in the regular season. It's an amazing plan and great structure for a team.

They played a bit better defensively, oh boy. Hand them the Jennings.

They don't change the core, they're out in the 1st round again.

I don't have to get over anything. I'm perfectly aware the core is a losing one, I won't actually be watching unless the team pushes beyond the 1st round. I'm glad you completely moved past the fact you were wrong in that the team team, at it's core is the exact same and you were wrong though LOL

It's a possibility, but they've hinted at changes and cap concerns. They're covering their bases and leaving options open. Everyone should have expected this language and these type of statements

That's something that I cannot explain. But that was 1 out of 63 games.

I think the players have a point that despite how awful the ending was, there are positives about how the team's regular went.

It is hard though to get excited for next year if theres not any change to the Management/Coaching staff or the roster, They said Depth wasn't the issue, then what are they identifying as the issue? Just the killer instinct from the star players? I feel like running it back isn't going to make you have a "killer instinct"
