Locker Clean-out Day

He sounds like he doesn't have a clue how to improve the team any further. Same old rehash about wanting to improve and develop but no plan of how.

He sounds like he is in denial. This is similar to what was said vs CBJ last year.
It's the precise same shit as last year and it's infuriating.

I've just learned. This will never change. This is the leafs. We could lose in the first round every year and they'll just read the same script. I'm legitimately starting to think they don't care if they lose in the first round. The team prints so much money regardless.

He has taken the team to a point but now it needs to move forward.

The team outgrew Babcock, he was useful for what they needed.

Shanahan got the organization to a point where it's a functioning organization now but it doesn't seem like he can take it to the next step.

Sure didn't look 'really good' on the ice. One of those times where you love the guy but....

Hey at least he felt good :D. I mean bro it was painful to watch.

I know he tried to redeem himself with homeless guy beard but damn no self-reflection on this one...

Please tell me with a straight face that the 19-20 and the 20-21 leafs are the same.

Nobody does at this point, it'll take time to debrief and plan

It's important to note he only talked about the top 4 guys. Nothing about Rielly or anyone else being safe.
Even if they wanted to resign him they couldnt without completely destroying what little they have left in cap space.

Pretty much the same. Switched some league minimum players with some other league minimum players.

Preyed on a weak Canadian division.

Team looked precisely the same in the postseason.

I don't understand this reaction.

These are professionals with prepared responses. They're not going to freak out on stage or give anything away at this point. They'll take a bit of blame, say we need to be better and committed to regrouping.

This is basic stuff

Where's the accountability for 5 years of playoff failure under the same regime?

Everyone gets another shot! Everyone can and will be better! We can do it!

Heard this before.

The core doesn't have it.

You can't just "think really hard" to develop killer instinct. You're born with that compete. Or you're not.

They aren't. Time to show them it's a business, shock the core, and hope for some internal growth that way. Or start again.

They have some great pieces. Fix it.

0 accountability.

Lol, that reporter told Matthews that every non-goalie that makes more than 10 mil is now out of the playoffs. Barely even a question. Just asked "what do you think of that"? Matthews said he didn't know.

But it was clearly a dig at the fact that we have THREE.

I have heard a reporter making similar statements to Marners face post game 7. Not about players out, but did not forget to mention his salary in was that a question sentence !

Shanahan said Kyle dubas did an excellent job...looks like shanny is going to have to fall on his sword to get rid of dubie dublar

The core is the exact same.

LOL, come on. They made big changes and the team looked completely different.

If you don't believe in the core, that's fine. I guess you'll just have to tune out for a some time. Maybe root against the team.

He scored, but those two contacts were it . Good job finding them, barely hit the second one btw..

The half the cap on 4 forwards experiment should be over, and that's what they should be talking about right now. They could even use the covid flat-cap as their excuse.

So depth isn't an issue, we're keeping our highest salary cap hits because they're not the problem, Keefe is coming back, and everything is awesome. Except the two words "killer instinct", which I'm sure is something physical they can send an intern down to Giant Tiger to buy.

Well, I'm sold. I feel so much better riding the zero accountability train with these guys.

If the organization is steadfast on keeping the core 4 and Rielly together, how do they manage to bring in a Seth Jones or Dougie Hamilton, who are severely needed?

if you think that they will not print more money by winning, i don't know what to tell you. ever since the teachers were out, this orgnaization has not been shy about throwing money at anything to try to get better and win. if you want to believe if managment/ownership don't actually want to win and make more money then i don't know what to tell you.

why are Seth Jones or Dougie Hamilton severely needed?
do they score lots of goals since Matthews and Marner do not?
