Funny how we actually go 7 in a Stanley cup final vs being swept or stomped in 5 and yet this feels worse somehow, because it’s less so about how competitive they were across the entire series and it being overshadowed by a historical, unfathomable collapse of epic proportions. At least in the previous 2 they went on insane, unprecedented runs that no one expected, we were all incredibly proud of, and it was cute they were there at all. Ever since they lost last year, they were so upset, angry and determined. They began training camp with that single mindset, won the division when some didn’t even think they’d make the playoffs, they swat Tampa in 5 (while depleted vs previous years sure, but still), beating the bruins and swayman in 6 and winning 3 straight to best the top team in the league and shesterkin, then go up a whopping 3-0 in the final. Seemingly, nothing could stop them. 1 win away from finally winning it all and only lost 5 games the entire playoffs before that and now? Losing 4 straight to squander it all? Which only happened 1 single time in the leagues history in 19 freaking 42 when only 6 teams played? I’d have to give props to McDavid, an all time great, similar to Brady and the falcons, but he alone isn’t enough, the players, the coaches, this WAS winnable. Idk what happened and while any one can win on any given night, they will need to be extremely lucky on Monday to even have a chance. Forget if it goes to OT, McDavid is winning that game himself if it does. There is literally nothing more that id want for them to pull this off, I just can’t grasp a scenario where they do

It’s only 3-0 who cares

If we start well, get the first goal, that’s when we’re at our best. Protecting leads. This will also open up Edmonton and their D is also prone to mistakes. We can then capitalize. We were poised to start off game 4 and 5 on the right foot but took a bazooka to said foot and shot it with a shortie. That’s why it’s so so important to get that first goal. If we do, confidence can make its way through the team and then pressure is back on the Oilers.

I was saying the same thing last night that they needed to score first to have a chance.

Ultimately, McDavid got drafted in our building only for him to hoist the cup there, stealing our chance at it when we were up 3-0, conn smythe, everything. Just rename it to the Connor McDavid Arena this time. I don’t foresee rioting, but I do think it’ll be a shitshow. Shit littering the ice like the belfour/hurricanes game, and that could be tame vs the alternative

I'll wager Haslem being asked to bang the drum
Need that championship energy. Similar to when we had JP, Livan Hernandez, and Zo. It was kinda cool I guess that they got jack nicklaus but pretty funny and not exactly awe inspiring watching him lightly tapping the drum lol. Too bad Josh Beckett probably doesn’t live down here. Wade would be the ideal get

Powerplay has been the real killer in this series. 2 shg and every time they dont allow shg they lose all the litlle momentum because of the shitty pp.

Even in the other series our pp was bad.

Yes the players on the ice are responsible but this is on management. Edm presurres so well that you have to be able to win puck battles on the wall and make small plays to break the pressure. That is the first thing.

Secondly Swaggy plays wrong side or he shouldnt play 1pp at all. He has good wrister and he is fast. But he is not good playmaker or very good at boards. He has to pass Montour who is open to only backhand and tkatchuk Who rearly comes to help and when does is also open for backhand. All season they have only made the same play with few minor variations. And all edmonton has to do is kill the play in swaggys side. If you are left handed and play at the left point, usually you are there because of great playmaking skills, puck shielding and edge work. Like huberdau was, or panarin, marner etc. And in the opposit point you have a SHOOTING THREATH. Barkov could play that left side position because he have the skillset to do that. Or hey, what about a right hand shot there? We have three options Reinhart, Erod, Montour and Ek. Pick one, dont care. It cant be any worse. Hell put Okposo there. Erod has been good so why not him?

If they could get like some shots It would create something. Something is better than nothing.

Dont have energy to write about Montour.

And please dress Okposo.

Lines should be this or Pomo is braindead;

Keith tkatchuk - Sasha - Erod
Swag - Bennett- Tara
Luo - Lundell - Reinhart
Lombrentz - Stenlund - Okposo

Defenders;

Forsling every other shift and hope he fins his inner Lidström again.

Or if Pomo is genius;

Bennet barkov Tkatchuk
Erod lundell reinhart
Tara luostarinen Carter
4th line

Just switch their sides and its completely new dynamic.
