Maybe I am in the minority here but I do not want Taylor Hall.

I am curious to see of we can steal a forward from Anaheim or San Jose.

I would be willing to trade a fair bit for Jenner, Foligno, or Pavelski.

I suspect the most active teams will be the sharks, ducks and Jackets.

That's fine, but why even have a presser at all? What is the point? From the recaps here, seems like it was a giant waste of time for all.
Not really. He gave the press conference but didn't dice anyone to watch. You just didn't blike the answers.

Just posted on the trade sticky. Leafs are looking at Forsberg. For him, I would move any our big 4 prospects for him.

Why Maple Leafs' Dubas is ready to go all-in and make a trade soon - Sportsnet.ca

TORONTO -- It is not really a question of how badly Kyle Dubas wants to make a trade right now because it’s abundantly clear the Toronto Maple Leafs general manager is prepared to push a stack of chips to the centre of the table.

What remains to be seen is how much of a limit he’ll impose on spending future assets in order to strengthen the odds of a run towards the Stanley Cup.

The unique dynamics at play during a Covid season have created a headwind for someone in his situation. He may well have to overpay in order to get something done. Prices on the available players have been set high and aren’t likely to retract on a timetable that fits a Canadian-based buyer.

Put yourselves in the shoes of a seller like Nashville or Buffalo or New Jersey: You might as well try and leverage the Canadian teams anxious to get an early start on trading season because of federal quarantine rules since you know that their U.S.-based counterparts are likely to continue shopping right up until 3 p.m. ET on April 12 if you don’t get something done.

The unofficial trade deadline in Toronto passes earlier than that. Dubas is anxious to make his move immediately and with each day that passes, it affects the internal calculation because he’s largely focused on adding players on expiring contracts.

“I think given the quarantine that’s in place right now and the 14 days where the player’s going to come in and sit for 14 days in their hotel and then join the club, we’re going to be in a tougher spot to certainly get as much out of it as we can,” Dubas told reporters Tuesday. “And if you look at the schedule where it goes, where April 12 is the deadline and then if you go the two weeks beyond that you’re April 27 or 28 before they get out of their hotel, and then they’re only with the team for I think it’s like six games or 10 days or something like that [before playoffs].

“So it certainly provides an incentive to try to make the moves earlier. It takes two to make that happen, though.”

The odds of Dubas finding a fit are greatly increased by his willingness to deal from the organization’s prospect pool. Nick Robertson or Rasmus Sandin or Rodion Amirov are arguably more appealing to a trading partner than a 2021 first-round pick likely to land 20th overall or later.

It also speaks to the stage the Leafs have reached in their development.

While trying to sustain a period where they contend as long as possible, each season with this core represents a priceless opportunity. The stakes are arguably even a notch higher with Toronto sitting atop the North Division at 19-9-2 and looking at a clear path to the conference finals if it can outlast Winnipeg, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

Interesting that Sandin is that untouchable one. Mike Futa was saying he has a badly mangled foot with unknown implication on how future which is scaring off teams supposedly.

Taken by Dubas' at his first draftbas GM. There's a longer connection to him vs some other guys. He and Robertson are likely the most untouchables futures assets in the organization at the moment.

All fine and good to want to trade early if you have cap space. Not great for wanting to wait to accumulate cap space. We won’t really be gaining any but other team will possibly be doing that for reasons of their own. Just another wrinkle in doing trades this year.
Trading big time important players and losing them players for a full two weeks for quarantine is a absolute burden. If it’s in a busy part of a team’s schedule you could be losing a full 7 games from said players. That’s crazy implications for trading with American teams.
Then the players are rusty and need practice time when you finally do get them. Ohhhh Thats seriously bad for a team’s chemistry too. F***** crazy year

Good point. Amirov seems like a guy they should keep around though. We don’t have the connection with him but the straight up upside can’t be forgotten.

It's hard to get a read on him.

I like him a lot, but if the Leafs did in fact consider trading down they may have some slight hesitations about him.

Id view him on the same level as Lily - no interest in moving him unless it's for a must have guy on the other end of the deal

Or, a good way to get teams on to other prospects and thinking there's something wrong with sandin.

If they somehow managed to do something special like Forsberg/Ekholm or something for one of our bluechips, pick and cap dumps in Kerfoot and whomever else, or pulled a John Gibson rabbit out of the hat I'm willing to accept that. Not if it's in the Palmieri, Foligno range though.

Leafs shouldn't trade Liljegren.

Leafs should pay the premium for Gibson.

Leafs should trade Rielly while his value is high.

I'm fine with dubas selling 2 1sts to get his target

Our 1st should be one of the last 4 picks this year, no excuse not to make final 4 with our competition this year

I'd pay 2021 1st, 2022 1st, Abramov, Hirvonen, Hallinder Niemela and hope we can keep sandin/robertson/amirov/lilijgren

Rielly is an elite player. He should be signed long term for 7ish million

No one on this team besides him can generate offense from the backend and transition the puck well. He has dominated the puck recently and been barely on the ice for goals against

If we trade rielly unless we get a maybe 10 to 15 particular guys back we are a worse team

You have nothing to worry about.

Leafs have $29,256 in free cap space and Hall carries an $8 mil ticket.

Relief costs picks. He said it himself, if something makes sense they will make it work. This is where he sees Pridham's value. Not knowing just the Leafs cap situation, but everyone elses as well.
