News Article: Live Dubas presser

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
This thread is so classic leafs fans.

They have a great team and a GM guaranteeing a big upgrade.....

....and people are upset at him for it.

It's very normal to be apprehensive about a big all-in trade before we know what the particulars are/will be/could be.

Once upon a time, Cliff Fletcher guaranteed big upgrades every year. See how that Clark, Schneider upgrade turned out.

Interesting that Sandin is that untouchable one. Mike Futa was saying he has a badly mangled foot with unknown implication on how future which is scaring off teams supposedly.

It's a broken foot, not amputated? Futa is pretty out there with this one.

As I said before, I am not sure he really knows anything, at least about us. Also said Kerfoot would not have much value.

He is a top notch PKer who can play a strong two-way game, has versatility, and can put up a 0.5 PPG. If teams won't pay for that, then I am sure the Leafs are more than happy to keep him for themselves.

That Ekholm price seems overdone as well. Maybe Nashville is asking for that though. They just won't be getting it, at least not from us.

It's sensationalist for sure. Like how catastrophic could a bone injury that isn't a lumb be to alter the course of a player's development? Seems like all the missed developmental time would be a bigger issue.

Yeah, being upset that your GM is committed to a big upgrade is....not normal.

I said "apprehensive" - as in fear of the unknown.

For someone so data driven, you'd think you'd want to know the details of the hypothetical trade before salivating.

Now I'm hoping it's going to be Amirov and a 1st for Luke Schenn just to get your commentary.

Dubas was putting a lot of undue pressure on himself saying he needs to find a way to help his team. May be so, but as the big boss just hang back and play your cards cool and calm, close to the vest!
He’s never said anything but this.
Why would it change now?

Like I said- this is classic leafs fans behaviour here.

First place team, committed to an upgrade, a GM that has shown many times he understands the value of futures......the proper emotion to have here is excitement, not fear.

Rakell + Gibson for Kerfoot, Andersen, Robertson, 1st and 2nd...would you do it?

Yeah I could buy that he hasn't played enough and that would make teams a little nervous about it.

We need to add dmen and no way do you trade a 26 year old homegrown Rielly for a 30 year old Ekholm. I get the fustration with Rielly lately but it might have more to have to do with fatigue than anything.
Based on age, I consider it if Ekholm comes with a reasonable plus.

I think teams already know...he's probably been calling them days ago.

If Dubas somehow added a new starting goalie, that would be cause for excitement. If he shifted salaries and chipped in picks and top prospects and walked away with a Forsberg Ekholm combo, cause for excitement. If he traded 2 firsts for Miles Wood and Kyle Palmieri a la Julien Brisebois without having Hedman and Vasilevsiky as a foundation, not a cause for excitement.

Thanks for the laugh, too funny.

This is pretty true, lose Stamkos win anyway, loose Kucherov win anyway, loose Hedman and they are up the creak
