He got hurt against Capitals I was sitting there with daughter - both saw it both were surprised stayed in

Sat there games 1 and 2 with Jess a former original member here and he was constantly fidgitting, flexing, stretching, twisting when the puck was down the other end - dude was hurt

Ullmark was great all year and will be great again

Dude was clearly compromised

Don’t fall into the mod mentality here LG
i'm pro ullmark, danny boy. i think i wrote this last year anyway

For me with Ullmark it's very simple - it's undeniable that the Bruins' chances of making the playoffs again next season will be much much higher if they keep him. Injury largely excuses his playoff performance and whatever the politics around that, or even if you disagree with injury being a factor, his regular season record speaks for itself - you're not doing better than that with Sway and some cheap backup, young or older.

But in the unlikely event that Boston wants to play the long game and is looking to create a contending team in 3-4 years as opposed to worrying about next season, then trading him now for picks is a very viable option. He'll get a higher return than anyone else that realistically might be dealt, and his stocks will probably never be higher. Short term pain for long term gain. Doubt it happens, but that's the argument.

Even if you go with the “injury excuses his poor performance” then what was the excuse last year?

I’d rather pay swayman and give him a chance. Sure Ullmark has had two good regular season, but he’s had two disaster postseasons.

Last year Ullmark was inconsistent all season. Had some strong stretches, but overall was ok but not great, and that continued into the Canes series. This year he was much better and clearly improved in his movement and some of his technique. He brought it all season and presumably had responded well to more time with Bob and any other coaches. Then he got injured, and sick. Given how different the two seasons where, I don't think it follows that it can just be assumed that a fully healthy Ullmark would have struggled again in the playoffs. We simply don't know.

There may indeed be a playoffs problem there that goes beyond the merely physical. It's possible. But I don't think it's proven and given the regular season he's had at this point I'd still have confidence in him and his ability to deliver on the big stage. It may prove misplaced but I'd be willing to test it and find out.

I think given the forward situation going into next year, you try to keep both goaltenders and try winning games 2-1. I'd rather go into the season knowing the goaltending and defence is solid. Its probably going to be rough year no matter what though

I agree , pay Sway and he will come in cheaper than Ullmark and is younger , I dismiss Ullmark play in the playoffs because he was hurt but he is the victim of the salary cap era , you need to take his money and fill other parts of the roster.........

ullmark not playing in game 7 is all i need to know.
he is good as gone.
especially after getting yanked after 2 games last playoffs.

In normal circumstances I would say bring them both back ,but with the Bruins cap nightmare not sure how they can.

He seems like a really really good guy.
he’s an accountable guy, I bet the majority of them feel like they let Montgomery down. The coach made some dumb decisions but at the end of the day he wasn’t the one committing brain dead turnovers all series. Like I can’t count the numbers of turnovers where I started cringing knowing a goal was coming in the next 10-15 seconds, it had to have been like half of Florida’s goals

The coaches job is to put the team in the best possible position to win, Montgomery did the complete opposite of that with his personal decisions.

The players job is to not play like assholes and they did the complete opposite of that, it’s not like we’re talking about a young team here. This is a veteran team that’s been there and done that before. They should know better than to make the peewee mistakes they made

The players certainly deserve a ton of blame too, absolutely, but Monty's choices in personnel and their usage was atrocious. Worst of all was not pulling Ullmark after game 5, that was a fire-able offense if he had been here for 2-3 years. I'm sure he will learn from his mistakes but it might be a long long time before the Bruins have as good as chance to win a cup so he will never be forgiven for his part in this historical playoff collapse.

i would keep ullmark & swayman as a tandom. They will need top notch goaltending
next year to make the playoffs.
i believe they will try to move Carlo to free up cap room. His name has popped up in the past.
If bertuzzi is going to be signed it will happen real soon. Sweeney most likely has an offer
on the table for bertuzzi, if July 1st comes around he is good as gone. That is Sweeney's
style, if he wants a player he locks him up a.s.a.p.
He will try to trade one of Forbort or Gryzlyck.
He will listen to offers for Taylor Hall .
i hope bergeron comes back for one more year.
Hathaway & Orlov will be free agents looking for the most $$$$. So both will be gone
as well as Nosek & Foligno.
this is what i hope lineup looks like next season.
BERTUZZI ZACKA PASTRNAK
HALL COYLE FREDERIC
MARCHAND BERGERON LUCIC
LAUKO STEEN LYSALL

McAVOY GRYZLYCK
LINDHOLM CARLO
LOHREI ZBORIL

ULLMARK
SWAYMAN

I don't think the term assholes is fitting here. But certainly many players underperformed.

To win in the playoffs some players need to step up and exceed expectations. Florida had a number of them. Maybe Hall and Carlo for the Bruins. Still, Bruins could have easily advanced with just a tiny bit of luck.

Lucic is toast and not a RW. Steen is not a center. And most of all this team is way over the cap.

Don't think Marchand or Lucic have ever played RW in their entire careers.
