But it's if he's injured, that's two healthy games in total.

You buy too much into this regular season vs playoffs voodoo stuff.

I really don’t care if hes injured or not. If you say you are good enough to go and the coach puts you in and you suck then that doesn’t lessen the impact. Regardless if he’s playing terrible while injured, healthy or both it doesn’t change the fact that he was a liability back-to-back years in the most important part of the season.

With swayman due to get paid it’s simply not feasible to keep Ullmark when all he’s done is be a $5m healthy scratch two years in a row to end a series.

yup.
hes as good as gone. cant handle the pressure of the playoffs. this whole core really.

If the Washington Capitals had their time back during the summer of 1996 they would gotten a lot more for their 22-year old Vezina winner than they did 9 months later at the 1997 deadline.

I think it's safe to say Ullmark's value will NEVER be higher than it is right now.

It really depends on the return doesn't it?

If we can package him for a 1st line center or a draft pick that can net us a potential 1st line center, then you do the deal.

Bottom line - the move needs to upgrade the roster.

If you're getting back chump change and only cap relief, you don't deal quality players just for cap space.

Well nobody is giving up Top 10 draft picks or 1st line centers for goaltenders in today's NHL. Not the way teams play musical goalies now.

The market will dictate the return on Ullmark. This team can't afford to add anyone without subtracting something of quality first. Just cutting the salary cap fat at the fringes (guys like Reilly and Forbort) ain't gonna cut it.

I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention, but this happens ALL THE TIME.

Not advocating for an Ullmark deal. I still really like the dude and don’t think there’s many better out there and comparably, he’s CHEAP.

But I have to live in reality, and reality states you aren’t clearing cap in any Charlie Coyle or Taylor Hall trade. Not in the current cap climate. And cap REQUIRES clearing.

Price of going all in this year. Decisions are going to have to be made and they’re going to have to hurt.

First round f***ing exit.

Has there been any speculation that Ullmark was injured (or re-injured) in his altercation with Tkachuk in Game 4?

He was pulled from the game at that point and wasn't the same after that.

I'm not really sure with what angle Sweeney was playing in his criticism of ullmark but game 1 it was clear he was having trouble getting to his feet. He won 3 outta 4 so nobody really said anything I guess.

There was a point Sam Bennett sat on Ullmark's back in that same game, I believe before the Tkachuk altercation, and Ullmark didn't look the same since that happened.

I maintain that the reason Ullmark struggled is because the Bruins D was forechecked hard the cast of characters (McAvoy, Carlo, Grizzy, etc) folded when the Panthers took the body with gusto and created chaos.

Ullmark and the Bruins goalies will look alot better when team can check effectively in both ends of the ice, keep the puck in the Ozone and play with an edge in the D end.

That will make Ullmark and Swayman alot happier...

Easier said than done with the Bruins current philosophy.

Carlo played well.

The only game I would say the B's were so bad that it made the goaltending look bad was Game 2. They adjusted and played great in games 3 & 4. They got Bobbed in Game 5. Ullmark cost them game 6. Game 7, well we know what happens to them in Game 7's.

I don't disagree at all.

The Panthers generated offense by aggressively taking it to the Bruins physically over 200' of the ice.

The Bruins offense was sped up because of the Panthers physicality. Lots of missed shots, lots of turnovers, led to more time in the Bruins zone where again the Panthers used their style to generate offense.

The Panthers used the Blues and others blueprint to defeat a lethal Bruins offense. Take it to the Bruins, take the body, make it messy, and it works against this core.

They need some changes to succeed at playoff hockey.

I want Ullmark gone for no other reason than not having to hear about the stupid f***ing goalie hug anymore. Leave that corny shit in 22-23 where it belongs, as a reminder of the ultimate team failure.

I think they could.

More so, I think they want to.
You might be right. DS surely noticed in the regular season that the goalie rotation of Ullmark/Swayman covered for defensive deficiencies. Countless GDTs where the theme was "goalie was the best player on the ice tonight and saved the Bs bacon."

I get that the goalie tandem didn't work out in the playoffs, but Ullmark did have 3 solid games when he was healthy and Swayman didn't get a chance until the last game. Sucks that Ullmark got hurt and the coach threw everything he knew about hockey out the window at the worst possible time.

For less than $10M the Bs could bring back a goalie tandem that were big in helping the Bs break multiple regular season win records. Might be money well spent when you factor in how many deficiencies good goalies can mask.

I'd prefer Swayman/Bertuzzi/Assets to Swayman/Ullmark. I am not too worried about Ullmark's playoff performance moving forward given sample size and injury considerations, just the realities of the Bs situation and I think Swayman will get better with more consistent play time.

I proposed on the Kings board something around Ullmark for Francesco Pinelli, who I think will be a very good 200 ft center and likely enough offense to be a 2nd line center but a pretty high/safe floor as well...I think he will move quickly but will probably need most of next year in the AHL.

I wonder what was Ullmark's record with his new doggie goalie mask as opposed to his old one?
Seriously, why would you change masks during a record breaking season?
Didn't one of his dogs die the same week he got his new mask?
Man, if that wasn't a bad omen, then I don't know what is.
