Nothing wrong with Ullmark, D corp as been a complet shit show bunch of a non physical D who cant defend their own zone and clear front of the net...Grezlyck, Carlo, Lindholm. Cifton and Forbort failed badly in this serie..Mcavoy was simply not a 9.5mil D was bad...coaching as been a big part of this debacle, never been able to match up lines, bad decisions...out matched, out worked, out played out coached...Maurice was right!

Series save pct for Ullmark:

Game 1 .969
Game 2 .828
Game 3 .935
Game 4 .953
Game 5 .840
Game 6 .813

A goalie who only had 48 starts this season and had gotten into the groove of sharing duties with Swayman. Then all of a sudden the coach puts him in 6 games in a row in less than 2 weeks with no rest. Injuries or not, Ullmark's rhythm was broken and his body/mind were taxed to a degree he hadn't dealt with. But Monty decided to overlook all of that because he felt warm and fuzzy gazing into Ullmark's eyes. Bottom line for me is that Monty screwed the pooch in the way he managed the goalie situation. He's the head coach. Buck stops with him, regardless of any nonsense he is trying to peddle about the goalie coach's role.

If I'm Sweeney, I move Ullmark this offseason, while his value is at an all time high. Clear the cap space by moving him, Forbort, and some other pieces and do everything they can to retain Bertuzzi.

28-years old and an average skater now and already below-average in his own zone. It's the skating ability that for me is a major concern moving forward.

No way should they extend him on a long-term deal taking him to age 34 or 35.

Yep, add Grzcelyk too. Can only keep one of the goalies so build with Swayman. Gonna need to have a couple cheap/young D men on the bottom pair, but after what I just watched D and Goalie is where cap should be shaved.

I look at effort and intangibles. Things like heart and desire to win. Being selfless and sacrificing the body to make the play. And he's got that in spades. I get the concern for the long term, but I'd rather spend on a guy that cares despite having some flaws versus spending on a guy with skill but a don't give a shit attitude all day long.

Monty legitimately should be fired

If this is true
Can't disagree. Other fireable offenses too. One of the worst-coached playoff series I have ever witnessed. And I am sure there is more that will come out as the week progresses showing the ineptitude of the coach. I'm still trying to process how poorly the series was managed. Stupid disclaimer: I realize the players are largely responsible as well.

He's legit the only Bruin player who has a skill set in front of the net.

Agree completely. Their bottom of the roster was an issue. The 3rd line pairing got exposed. I do think that Monty could have mitigated it better too though. He should have shortened up the bench last night when they got the lead. Only rolling out McAvoy, Lindholm, Orlov, and Carlo instead of continually putting out Forbort and Gryz, who were both bad all series long.

I get that part. I loved his playoff effort.

But Matt Belesky and David Backes tried really hard and cared a lot too. So did Nick Foligno. Didn't matter once the wheels started to go. There was more than a couple times in this series that Foligno got the puck with time and space going up the wing in a straight line and Panthers back-checkers closed on him so fast he never even made it to the redline.

Bruins need to get younger and faster. Panthers had just two forwards over the age of 29, one was a career minor-leaguer (Dalpe) and the other couldn't even find an NHL job the year prior (Staal). Both were on their 4th line. Dalpe averaged 8 mins and Staal 12 in the series.
