Line Combos: Line Discussion Thread

Would rather see Zucc stay with Gabby and Richards. I feel the only way Gaborik can get going is with the speed and passing ability Zucc brings on the rush. Gaborik and Richards are useless down low IMO. Isn't that Clowes game? If Clowe has above average speed than maybe he can be good on the rush with Gabby/Richards, but seems like Zucc was setting up multiple chances for his two linemates the other night.

are the Rangers not over the contract limit? 52?

this is going to be weird without Gaborik

Clowe , Stepan, Nash
Brassard, Richards, Callahan
Hagelin, Boyle, Zuccarello
Pyatt, Powe, Dorsett
Asham

That's the new depth chart.

Moore likely on RD for Eminger?

Hags-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Miller-Callahan
Clowe-Richards-MZA
Asham-Boyle-Pyatt

Is what I would play tonight. Moving Kreider and Miller down is not smart, unless they plan on bringing them right back up but I don't see that happening...

Nash - Stepan - Callahan
Clowe - Richards - Zucc
Hagelin - Brassard - Boyle
Asham - Powe - Pyatt

Thats my guess at least...but who the hell knows

Not convinced this team is any scarier than the one from last week

All I know is Pitt is going to focus in on Nash and Stepan tonight and we are going to get shutout bc that's the only big scoring threat we have now.

Brassard and Moore aren't playing tonight I'm assuming.

Nash-Stepan-Callahan
Clowe-Richards-Zuccarello
Hagelin-Boyle-Asham
Pyatt-Powe

McD-G
DZ-Stralman
Eminger-Hamrlik
Gilroy

7 D today

Nash - Stepan - Callahan
Clowe - Richards - Zucc
Hagelin - Brassard - Boyle
Asham - Powe - Pyatt

That lineup looks more like a team than a collection of parts, like it did.

The good news, we finally got a 3rd line center. The bad news, we traded a Top 6 player for him, and our idiot coach will still manage to play Brian Boyle Top 9 minutes.

It's almost too much jam. Need a little more skill on the 3rd line. That's where Fast, Kreider come in.

It's so funny, two days ago before these trades, it was the opposite. Too much skill, not enough jam. Would like to see them call Kreider back up and actually play him in the top 3 lines.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Clowe - Richards - Zucc
Hagelin - Brassard - Callahan
Asham/Pyatt - Boyle - Powe

i dont know how that roster looks like anything other than a collection of parts

In Nash we trust i suppose

Has nothing to do with Nash. Every player in that lineup you posted slots well onto the line and position you've got them and there is mobility for switching them without putting players outside of their comfort zone. Before, we were putting too many players into spots they weren't suited for.

i see where you're coming from...and i agree over the long term

i was reffering to the end of this season, and this transitional period while these guys are getting introduced into the lineup

I like that. A lot more balance.

I'm guessing.

Nash-Step-Callahan
Hagelin-Richards-Zuc
Clowe-Brassard-Boyle
Pyatt-Powe-Asham

Boyle won't be off the 3rd line. Brutal. Still a one line team. And our awful PP, got even worse.

You know, with a 3rd playmaking center with good vision, it would've actually made sense to keep Kreider up. Just saying.
