Lindy Ruff has been fired

Better not be Rolston...does this organization have no imagination?
Only way I'm fine with it is if it's purely interim.
Hopefully he then flounders, we get a lottery pick, and he's banished from the organization entirely.

We then have new AHL and NHL coaches.

They really need to take it slow and now impulse-hire someone. If anything any coach moving up in this org should be interim.

To put the Lindy Ruff tenure in perspective:

- There have been 170 head coaching changes during Ruff's tenure
- When Lindy Ruff was hired by the Sabres, the Leafs were still a Western Conference team playing at Maple Leaf Gardens
- Sabres who have never played for a different coach: Vanek, Miller, Pominville, Stafford, Ennis, Foligno, Myers, Sekera, Kaleta + 5 others.
- Lindy Ruff had been the second-longest tenured coach in North American pro sports next to Gregg Popovich (4 Championships) of the San Antonio Spurs and was the longest serving coach with one team in the NHL.

Now that tag goes to the Nashville Predators' Barry Trotz

If it ends up being Rolston or Cunneyworth, there's no way it isn't on an interim basis. The FO has tested my patience the last year or so, but they're not that stupid

Also, Connor "The Next Next One" McDavid was six months and eight days old when Ruff was hired.

Long overdue. Lindy's a great guy, but his message was stale and I really didn't understand most of his coaching decisions.
As far as his replacement is concerned I could get behind Cunneyworth. I'd also be interested in another former sabre Bob Boughner.

He'll probably slide right over to the Islanders...that's the only other long overdue coaching change I can think of off the top of my head.

I doubt he'd go there, actually. I wonder if Minnesota keeps floundering if they'd consider jettisoning Yeo. Sacco may not be long for the Avs, either, without knowing his contract situation.

Can't see how Patrick and the rest of the coaching staff that's been working with these guys all year is suddenly going to change anything? Mine as well kept Ruff if we're going this direction.

I posted from my phone earlier, I was out to lunch with some guys from work...I was literally so shocked and elated that I couldn't finish eating.
