Yes, overvaluing probably the most important player for our future so we should just takes picks for him. Without fail, if you don't agree to a bad proposal, you're overvaluing the player so you should just take the bad offer.

You lost me in that last sentence, Anaheim GM should get his head out of his #@* and get to work. Seems to me, the longer it drags out, his value will deminish. Can't trade for Trouba, cap, they need to trade Vatanen, but that still would not give them the room, depending what salary comes back. They could be absolutely trading a very good player for picks and lower cost prospects.

Lindholm's value is not higher than Jones or Larsson unless he is willing to take a 5M per long term deal and ANA is willing to take equal salary back.

Fact is that ANA is in a position of weakness with all the cap restrictions. They really should have focused on Lindholm instead of locking up Rakell and Vatanen

That's fine. Still doesn't make adding Stoner to Lindholm a rational idea.

youre probably right, but most of us are playing along based on that tweet that Lindholm could now be traded. If (big IF) that were at all true, just seems to me that the Jets are the most compatible trading partner.

One that asked for a trade out and could easily do the same to us if he doesn't like the ice time, the weather, it not being close to home, for whatever reason. Not taking a risk like that for a player who wants to actually stay with us.

Weren't there reports he wanted to play in the east as well? Ducks would probably just have to trade him after acquiring him if that was the case.

Why do people keep adding Dano to Trouba? Dano couldn't even stick with the Hawks who always need good cheap players. No interest in Trouba or Dano in the expense of Lindholm. And adding Stoner to a Lindholm deal completely defeats the purpose completely. If we trade Stoner, it's to use that money to re-sign Lindholm. Pretty simple concept that only Jets fans don't seem to get.

And without getting rid of Stoner or someone else (or bribing Lindholm), Lindholm can't be signed to a long term deal. Pretty simple too.

That's the crux of the issue, for sure. If Ana isn't in a win now mode (as in the next 3-4 years are crucial given the ages of Getz, Perry & Kesler. Beyond that, ya lots of defensive talent, but nothing up front that's going to win you much.

So fine and dandy to say that you don't need a Trouba, but think about it. Trouba, Vatannen, Fowler & all the young guys on D gives you as solid a back-end as you'll ever need. Forward depth is more than adequate now, but look out once Getz Perry are over the hill.

Trouba + Dano for Lindholm + cap dump makes so much sense for all involved. Its your get out of jail card, and makes them instantly cap-compliant and a very strong contender. Sure, they MIGHT be able to do the same thing by retaining Lindholm; just not clear how they do that and hold onto the rest of their D-now guys (Fowler, Vatannen).

It only makes sense if you're hoping for someone to throw your team a life preserver. To anyone following Anaheim, we watched several key forwards leave without adequate replacement.

Again, Ryan Murray + Sonny Milano for Lindholm. Ducks get a cheaper top-pairing LHD option and a good forward prospect (who in his limited NHL time has shown some flashes of spectacular offensive play).

If it's that easy to trade Stoner or clear cap room, then why hasn't it already happened? The Ducks are contenders, so it makes no sense to have Lindholm sitting at home waiting to join the team.

Because Murray has already said he wants to re-sign Lindholm without making a trade.

Nothing is going to happen till Lindholm's situation is sorted out.

True enough, if the Ducks are hell bent on young forwards, they could surely flip trouba for said need. Its abundantly clear that Chevy is not interested in any forwards even thought perhaps many have been offered to him.

In a world where Adam Larsson returns Taylor Hall, im sure the Ducks could flip trouba for something that meets their need... oh, but im sure some will ask "why even involve the Jets", the answer lies in that I still believe Trouba would sign a bridge to get a deal done, making him affordable for many more teams than what Lindholm is wanting.

Oh god Edmonton is 5-1 and their fans are coming out from hiding after being very bad for very long. :help:

Larsson for hall never really looked bad, Edmonton needed defense and bad, they had expendable pieces at the forward position and made a move. I think Larsson is a bit under rated because his offensive #'s, but the truth of the matter is oilers needed a reliable defender, people may think hall could get more but the chances of someone better then Larsson being available were pretty slim.

Ducks are not really in a situation like that, our defense has been fine this season (without lindholm despres). Our offense(particularly depth) has been bad. Trading lindholm for picks/prospects isn't exactly a smart move at all(jones got johnasson, Larsson got hall) lindholms value is higher then both those players... if your team was willing to trade hall for Larsson in what world is anahiem fan base over valuing their player.

Never been a question of his value. Problem is his value is too high for the Ducks poor cap management. Just saying they are wasting this value, by not doing something. I think they are in a corner with the walls closing in. Could be very good news for some team and do hope it's the Oil!

From the Isles . . .

DeHaan, Nelson and Witherspoon for Lindholm

Solid Top 4 D, solid Top 6 forward and a nice D prospect who already signed his ELC after one season. If you prefer Lee instead of Nelson that's fine too.

If Oilers add defenceman during this season, they lose Sekera to Las Vegas so it doesn't make any sense to do this now.

No . He has a NTC so he has to be protected .

Larsson , Klefbom , Sekera and new D can all be protected along with

Lucic , Eberle , RNH , and Draisaitl

Mcdavid , Nurse , Puljujarvi are exempt

Talbot

Pretty easy 8 + 1 . So what we can only lose one player and it will be a Pouliot type of forward or Davidson on D easy to replace during UFA

I don't think that's a valid reason to include the Jets in any sense other than it gets the Jets their perfect addition. Why trade the more valuable asset for another headache when, even though it's BS, you could just trade the more valuable piece for what you need in the first place?

Chiarelli making another bad trade doesn't somehow mean the market price for RHD is former 1st overall picks who are top-10 at their position.

A bridge deal doesn't magically make Trouba more valuable that Lindholm in trade. We don't need more teams to make him a high value target in trade.

McKenzie, Dreger, etc have all said all 29 teams are interested in Trouba, the implied headache argument is just not true. It has also been reported that the Jets have had many significant offers for Trouba throughout the summer and fall. The Jets have their price set, and it has yet to be met. The Ducks are in a quandary with Lindholm but he is a player that would likely meet the Jets ask... From there, they can have a player just as young (NHL proven) and cheaper (again assuming Trouba signs a bridge) that they could use, or shop to the 28 other teams that have been reported interested... You would think that once that contract is signed, as the Ducks not having as stringent demands as the Jets, they could easily deal him for exactly what they want.

The Oilers should still make moves to improve the team. 6 games means **** all. Or at least I hope Chia feels that way.

They should absolutely be interested in Lindholm, but I doubt he comes to the Oilers unless it's via a third party.
Would he really improve the Oilers that much? They've shown chemistry and really don't need to disrupt that

Start with drai or no dice
if Lindholm was a RHD yes, but he's not so nope.

29 teams would be interested if Lindholm were made available.

If we're trading a defenseman, why don't we just trade Lindholm who has more value instead of helping the Jets?

Not once was our record mention . Most Oiler fans are still not believes after 10 years of sucking . Seems other fans bring up our record . Are you worried ? Go to the Oilers board and you will see that most Oilers fans see the Ducks as a team that will pass them in the standings . So your comments are a little off .

As for everything else he said he is right . I am hoping this drags on and Lindholm misses the season and cause players to stay as far away from the Ducks as possible . It not going to be an easy trade because the Ducks want full value for Lindholm but don't have the cap space to take on much $$$ . If the Ducks are looking for a #1 D signed to a good cheap contract it just isn't happening . Why would any GM trade a signed #1 D tab a cheap contract for a unsigned D that is going to cost more ?

Lindholm while a very good young D is overrated . I would not trade Larsson straight up for him . I am not saying Larsson is better but he signed long term at a reasonable contract he is a RHD which are harder to come by .

Good luck getting a fair value deal for him unless it for a package of lessor pieces . I do wish it was over for Lindholm sake . Missing time as a young developing player hurts their long term ability to achieve their highest potential
