Ceci is on a cheap bridge deal which should be easier for Anaheim to fit under the cap.

Sens find a perfect partner for Karlsson.

Thoughts?

Ceci is a defenseman we have enough of them even if we trade 1 and Ceci has been a sub 20 min defenseman have no interest in him. Senators gain Lindholm and they become a better team making that 1st round pick be less valuable. Not trading Lindholm for that.

22 year old top 3 D man and a shot at number 1/ a top 10 pick. Ok.

When has Ceci been a top 3 quality defenseman?

Mark Stone alone is enough. Massively underated around here, since elevated to a top 6 role in December of 2014 his ppg is in the top 15 in the NHL over that time period.

His positive affect on his linemates is almost unmatched when you look at Turris, Pageau and Smith's career PPG compared to playing with him.

2nd on team Canada in scoring at the World championships despite inexplicably being started on the 4th line highest corsi rating on the team. Led team canada WJC in scoring.

Double the take aways of any player in the NHL last year.

I am fine with how underated he is every player on Ottawa is discounted around here.

Ceci is already a top 3 D man its not a what if.

Mark Stone alone is not enough a top pair quality defenseman at Lindholm age is worth more.

I don't know...Ceci and the 12th overall for Lindholm might not be bad.

It's not like Anaheim would be paying Lindholm's contract.

That is terrible for Anaheim

Anaheim does not need a player like Ceci. That is not a need. That you don't grasp what Anaheim has in its system doesn't change that.

We are giving up a defenseman with franchise ceiling. Just because you've convinced yourself that the cost of that is a player that tops out as a 2/3 defenseman and a 1st round pick doesn't make it so.

I think HF actually has a very good grip on the concept that whoever gets the best player in a trade is winning the trade 99% of the time.

It's funny because real GMs continually struggle with this and make bad trades as a result.

I totally see where Anaheim fans are coming from here. I think Stone and Lindholm are very similar in their current value and skill (again I am basing this off of what I read on HF, I don't actually watch lindholm play), and I know I personally would laugh hysterically at the idea of a top 15 pick and Ceci for Stone.

Ceci is a quality defenseman, and the 1st may be a top pick, but it's nowhere close to enticing enough for me to give up an incredible player like Stone.

I suspect that's how Anaheim fans feel here.

See, just because Lindholm may be worth this player + that pick + whatever doesnt make it a trade the Ducks should do. #1 dmen do not grow on trees, especially in quality for quantity type deals. See: Jones for Johansen.

Larsson for Hall as well good young defenseman are worth a lot. The fact we also have too many defenseman and our blueline prospect pool is our strength is another reason why this thread is bad for the Ducks.

Well that also depends on the position. Stone is a winger. He has less value than a same productive player at position...say center or defense.

Yet Stone is a solid young productive winger, and Ceci is a solid #3.

not even close, still.

Ceci is significantly below lindholm, and a 10ish OA pick doesnt come close to bridging the gap.

Stone + 1st would get the ducks attention

Not close IMO. I'm not high on Ceci at all, but really high on Lindholm.

A potential #3D (yes potential #3D) + a great pick (top-15?) for a #1D (potential to be a top-10 D). I don't like that value.

It's actually worse than that, because as soon as Lindholm is added to Ottawa, they're a better team. At least on paper. They should be better, at least. That makes the pick potentially even less valuable.

The value going Anaheim's way drops as soon as the trade is made. Considering there are only two pieces going Anaheim's way, and the only other piece is Ceci, that is a terrible move on Anaheim's part.

The reality is the Sens don't have a huge need for Lindholm, Stone is a bigger need, so I don't think they'd do Stone for Lindholm one-for-one.

I feel like the fact that lindholm isnt available isnt understood....the ducks WANT him and WANT to pay him, but they have to MOVE OTHER players for that to happen...only way lindholm is moved is if 1) he is demanding to be moved or 2) he is asking for 8+....and neither of those are a concern...

so I would say: try fowler if you looking at getting a impact dman from the ducks, of course stoner/bieksa/despres could be had to.

On paper, Ottawa takes on salary.

On paper, Anaheim saves money.

That's really bad, terribly bad for the Ducks.

Lindholm is a #1 and only 22 yrs old.He worth a lot more than a #3/4 D-man and a early rd draft pick.

Lmao @ people adding a lot over Stone to get Lindholm. Stone is one of the best 2 way forwards in the league, Lindholm is a top 20/25 defender. At worst you add a small pick with Stone.

I agree that 1st+Ceci isn't strong or enticing to Anaheim though but if its a top 10 pick then the value is close, imo.

Lol they wouldn't take Trouba and our 1st, nevermind Ceci. While Ottawa's 1st could be alot higher Ceci may not have the hockey IQ to keep up with alot of the Ducks good players.

What do you call a #3?

A decent(is say pretty good) 2nd pairing defenseman who's right handed and 22.

He's Ottawa's #3 because of Karlsson. The #2 is Karlsson's partner.

I'd call a #3 a guy who can carry a 2nd pair. Ceci is not able to do that at this point in his career.

Methot and Phaneuf are the #2 and #3 defensemen for the Sens. Ceci is more accurately described as the #4 defenseman.

Im not saying i disagree but Edm traded a top 5 winger for a decent #2 at best.... Value is all over the place. Extremely hard to know how gms value players. Lindholm should be pretty close to untradable or ducks tho. Would be extremely surprised if they let him go, he is a damn good player.

So much wrong with this

I'd be willing to bet they'd seriously consider Trouba and your 1st. Difference between Lindholm and Trouba is probably small enough to consider adding potentially high 1st round pick + getting a right-handed D.

Ottawa is probably a better team than the Jets, or at the very least they'll have an easier time making the playoffs in the comparatively-weak Atlantic Division and the easier Eastern Conference than the Jets will in the stacked Central Division and more competitive Western Conference. Thinking the Sens 1st will be a lot higher than the Jets doesn't make a whole lot of sense at this time.

And Ceci doesn't have bad hockey IQ. His hockey IQ didn't limit him from out-producing Lindholm playing on the Sens, so I don't know why you'd think he can't keep up playing on the Ducks.
