They could easily be a far better team next year and get knocked out in the first round.I remember the Yankees window was just opening in 2017, only getting better from there as they exceeded expectations....how's that worked out so far?
It's not easy getting to the conference finals, don't assume this will be a yearly trek and we'll get over the hump to win it all for sure one of the next 5 years.
It looked like that billy goat looking head moved forward after the scrum and something may have been launched from its mouth in the direction of #13 in a blue sweater.theres pretty damning video on twitter....not sure how to post but hopefully someone does
Tampa figured out shesterkin. They skate to middle blocking his view and pick the corners from distance. Shesterkin doesn't peek to see he just stays square.
Hopefully everyone had a good sleep to get their heads back on straight after a tough loss.
This team has had an amazing season and made it farther than we ever expected them to. They are 2 games from the finals. Who wouldn't have taken that at the beginning of the year? We were just hoping to make it to the playoffs, maybe win a round.
We are now up against possibly the greatest team since the 80's Islanders. A dynasty in the making. They know how to win. You can see it in their adjustments and the way they "legally cheat." This is what the Kings were like back when we lost to them and a higher-level version of what the Staal/McD/Hank led Rangers were as well. The champions have had to adjust to US. Think about that for a second. The Rangers dominated them so badly in games 1 & 2, that they decided to just play trap, NZ style hockey in order to get into a game of "whoever makes the first mistake." Unfortunately, we have a very young team and are usually the ones who make those first mistakes. But it's an incredible sign that we pushed them into that type of game and even once they adjusted, games 3 & 5 could have easily gone our way. And we will learn. We will become the team that can win those games.
Our team, one of the youngest in the entire league, has hung with them nearly every game. Last night, they were the better team. They got the short end of the stick because of unlucky bounces, both against us in the O-Zone and for them in our D-Zone. How can you be mad at them for that? This series could very easily be 3-2 the other way, hell even 4-1.
The major difference in these two teams is one has a window that is opening. Now, our young guys have at least 20 games of tough playoff battles under their belts. Their hunger will increase. We've seen early 20's players rise to the occasion and prove they have the mettle for the playoffs. Chytil, K'andre, Fox, Laf and yes, even KK at times. Igor has also proven he can handle the load of a deep run (although he does need to get those shutouts once in a while).
This is not to say the series is over, but it is to say that whatever happens Saturday & Tuesday, we had an amazing year and hopefully it's just the start of something bigger. The pieces are in place. We've played THE TEAM of the past several years right to the edge.
There is nothing to lose the next game or hopefully two. I hope the boys leave it all on the ice, but whatever happens, happens. The future is bright and we got more out of this season than I'd ever imagined.

People who are saying this are just so Fing clueless.I can't believe people are saying the NYR lost because they aren't mentally tough enough.
This group? After all they've done?

I'm 51. I've been going to sporting events since I was taken to Shea Stadium as a 4 or 5 year old to see the Yankees during the stadium reconstruction. I was still a child when I went to MSG for my first Ranger game in 1979, during the heyday of the blue seat chants. I can remember a lot of absolute vulgar stuff that was yelled at those games, BUT, at the core of those chants and songs was dark humor. Attacking Denis Potvin's sexuality or his driving skills or something directed toward a team or player OTHER than "you suck" seemed to be actually less directly offensive toward an opposing fan. What a douchebag. Going to sporting events has been less & less appealing to me the past 5 years. People like this are the reason why.
Cmon man. The guy just played game 100 and is still playing a ton of minutes and has produced in the playoffs. A good portion of this team has played way more games than they have ever played before. Saturday will be 20 playoff games in 40 days which is insane. Any team would be gassed. Those 9 days off that Tampa had before this series is helping them right now.Team is out of gas. Reminds me of 2012. They better hit the gym this summer. Im looking at you Fox.
I replied to a similar comment, but you are taking my comment out of context. Fox has not played bad. Again, you can find my post defending his play all year. The comment is that our team is about to become a perennial playoff team with hopes of winning a Cup. They are going to be playing a lot of games every year and our #1 defenseman, Fox, is going to play a lot of minutes in the regular season, and then even more in the playoffs. He is going to have to prepare for that. Same goes for Chytil, Laf, Kakko, etc. who are all young and will need to prepare for rigorous seasons.Cmon man. Hate to break it to you, nothing you do in the gym will get your ready for 100 games. What you do in the gym in August won't affect you conditioning wise the following June.I replied to a similar comment, but you are taking my comment out of context. Fox has not played bad. I was not attacking Fox, he is simply the player that this is going to effect the most.
I can't imagine being in shape to start the season will have a negative impact on a players endurance throughout the season. By that rationale, no player should exercise during the offseason for fear of injury.Hate to break it to you, nothing you do in the gym will get your ready for 100 games. Want to have guys be fresh for this stage in the playoffs? Don't let games go to multiple OTs and multiple game 7s.
I mean we get the chances. We just flub the shot or do something stupid like overpass or curl back and not even get a shot or go full Ryan Strome.Their defense woke up. Check out Vallys scoring chances charts, we get no HDCs
Why would someone trade a #1 center for Kakko lolright now Kakko looks like hes' ready to be player moved in a trade for a #1 center.
not just him alone... him along with lindqvist, etc. a piece in a deal...Why would someone trade a #1 center for Kakko lol
So, Zibanejad isn't a #1 center?right now Kakko looks like hes' ready to be player moved in a trade for a #1 center.

It did look like he led with the elbow this time, imo. But people will call it out because it's way more convenient than trying to spin the previous hits.According to the main board, Trouba's missed "elbow" which wasn't an elbow unless hitting air is illegal is apparently the equivalent to pulling out a gun pointing it and not using it.
In today's age that is the example that is used? Are people this dense?
I think his elbow jutted out there once the initial point of contact was missed due the ducking of the hit. Like a reflex push off after solid contact is achieved. The contact never happened and he did the push off with his elbow out and almost caught him in the head with it. Would have been a pretty brutal elbow if he had though. It did look like he led with the elbow this time, imo. The bolded is what worries me. We could become a better team going forward and never get this far again. They could easily be a far better team next year and get knocked out in the first round.
There are way too many really good teams to even think advancing in the playoffs, or heck, even MAKING the playoffs is a guarantee.
Last game I went to was the first Rangers - Hurricanes game this season in Raleigh back in January. Only reasons there weren't any incidents were the sheer number of Rangers fans and it was snowing badly so people were more concerned about getting home than antagonizing each other.
right now Kakko looks like hes' ready to be player moved in a trade for a #1 center.
