Last night the refs decided they only call scoring chance penalties. Tampa trips, hooks, whatever along the boards and behind the net and it's all good tuff hockey. We impeded a guy breaking to the net and it's a penalty everytime. Playoff Hockey.

You did see that if Rooney doesn’t bang the puck so hard, Goodrow can get to that spot to receive it? Or no that doesn’t matter even though it creates the opportunity for the goal to happen, regardless of Goodrow being interfered with which he was.
If the rule book is followed, it doesn't matter.

If Goodrow isn't picked, the worst that happens is Sergachev dumps the puck into the corner. He wouldn't have had any time to make a play because Goodrow would have been on his check. All he could have done was a quick keep in. No pass, and certainly no shot.

Two misdemeanor assault counts and a discon. He will never get jail time for that, unfortunately, in NYC. The worst that will happen is he is forced to plea to the top count and gets stuck with two misdemeanors on his permanent record and probably has to do some community service time or anger management classes. Hopefully a lifetime ban from MSG as well.
Most likely, but who knows, the DA might try to play politics with it.

At worst, ban him from MSG, and the other local venues.

Hopefully everyone had a good sleep to get their heads back on straight after a tough loss.

This team has had an amazing season and made it farther than we ever expected them to. They are 2 games from the finals. Who wouldn't have taken that at the beginning of the year? We were just hoping to make it to the playoffs, maybe win a round.

We are now up against possibly the greatest team since the 80's Islanders. A dynasty in the making. They know how to win. You can see it in their adjustments and the way they "legally cheat." This is what the Kings were like back when we lost to them and a higher-level version of what the Staal/McD/Hank led Rangers were as well. The champions have had to adjust to US. Think about that for a second. The Rangers dominated them so badly in games 1 & 2, that they decided to just play trap, NZ style hockey in order to get into a game of "whoever makes the first mistake." Unfortunately, we have a very young team and are usually the ones who make those first mistakes. But it's an incredible sign that we pushed them into that type of game and even once they adjusted, games 3 & 5 could have easily gone our way. And we will learn. We will become the team that can win those games.

Our team, one of the youngest in the entire league, has hung with them nearly every game. Last night, they were the better team. They got the short end of the stick because of unlucky bounces, both against us in the O-Zone and for them in our D-Zone. How can you be mad at them for that? This series could very easily be 3-2 the other way, hell even 4-1.

The major difference in these two teams is one has a window that is opening. Now, our young guys have at least 20 games of tough playoff battles under their belts. Their hunger will increase. We've seen early 20's players rise to the occasion and prove they have the mettle for the playoffs. Chytil, K'andre, Fox, Laf and yes, even KK at times. Igor has also proven he can handle the load of a deep run (although he does need to get those shutouts once in a while).

This is not to say the series is over, but it is to say that whatever happens Saturday & Tuesday, we had an amazing year and hopefully it's just the start of something bigger. The pieces are in place. We've played THE TEAM of the past several years right to the edge.

There is nothing to lose the next game or hopefully two. I hope the boys leave it all on the ice, but whatever happens, happens. The future is bright and we got more out of this season than I'd ever imagined.

I don't even wanna kill Kreider but could have done a bit better on getting that puck deep and not let Sergachev completely stop him in his tracks?
100% He hesitated going wide and tried to stupidly go inside out like Panarin can. Should have used his straightaway speed or bulled his way to the net.

Not sure why they even gave that dude the option to refuse medical care. Hopefully he woke up this morning. Head injuries like that are bad news.

I don't think that part of the tweet is accurate...maybe he mixed it up with the other guy that was punched shortly afterwards...

Probably because he didn't want a NYC hospital bill that insurance may deny after an investigation into why he got punched.

There's no video of what led up to it. Although, one can surmise there was a heated verbal exchange.

Not saying refusing is all that smart; he's taking a calculated risk.

What you're saying is logical, but I doubt he had any wits about him to process that information. That guy needed to be in a hospital bed overnight under observation. I say that as someone who really dislikes hospitals.

The person on video did get help according to his friend. This "fan" also punched a witness who was trying to get him to stop. That's why he's getting 2 counts of assault.

What a douchebag. Going to sporting events has been less & less appealing to me the past 5 years. People like this are the reason why.

I've sat and thought about why I love things like hockey, or the music I like, and how they can effect me. I don't know why I love this sport. Sure I can say things like "it's graceful yet brutal", but It literally has ZERO bearing on anything in my life. The Rangers could win 50 cups in a row, and unless I either played for them, worked for the or had some kind of precognition in order to bet, at the end of the day, to most of us, it's a distraction from real life. Yet here I am, every game, talking to my dog and yelling at the TV as if t matters. As if something I do is going to affect the outcome. It's all pretty hilarious when you think about it.

I've been in my fair share of fights in my life. The perils of being skinny and loud. Still, in the context of hockey (and in general really), to do something as cowardly as to throw a sucker punch? I'm no fan of the legal system, but that dude deserves whatever he gets.

As for the game/team: A bunch of you have said it. The gas tank is on empty. Even if we were to advance, we'd get steamrolled by a rested Avs team. Is there still a chance? Always. That's why they play the games, but I do honestly think our run is probably over, and you know what? That's ok.

Just think about this: For our young core - We have them, contracts notwithstanding, for ten years. We have players of value (and some I'd rather just see disappear) to move in the off season that can yield even more pieces to the puzzle. Our kids got so much valuable experience, and as tired as I'm sure we all are of hearing that word, it's the truth. I think it was Vally who said Tampa is the dirtiest team in the NHL. Dirty within the very slimmest boundaries of the rules. It's something we need to adopt and learn. We're close, guys. Closest I've felt we've been even since 94.

Of all the f***ing things to complain about you chose the defenseman who is 4th in playoff points.
Relax bud. I am not complaining about him, he has played well, but he looks spent. He is going to be our #1 for the next 8 years, at least. He is going to log huge minutes, then he is going to log even more in the playoffs when the games get even tougher. He is going to have to prepare his body for whats to come.

Also, the younger players like Chytil, Kakko and Laf need to hit the gym too. Our seasons are going to get very long and tough now. These players need to prepare.

The first goal was quadruple screened and the second one deflected in the home plate.

Hank would laugh in your face if you told him he stops either of those.
ppl are weird with their goalies, it's like voodoo so they say whatever fits their mindset. Like 'need your goalie to make save'. genius take spewed by Maloney. or 'how often do we see a goal after a big save?' about as often as after a ho hum save, or as after a goal the other way.

Screened butt deflection from 5 feet out- oh but we 'needed' the save so it's on Igor. dumb af. i remember the bitching about hanks deflection bar-down goals, and when the opponent's goalie would have a deflection hit them in their stomach the morons would come out with 'oh i thought goalies aren't allowed to stop those.

After the misery of last night, I personally accepted that they are going to lose the series to a more experienced group. Trying to accept it.

But the fact is it isn’t over yet. Lay it all out on the ice and maybe we are the team to get a lucky bounce or two in game 6.

It ain’t over yet.
